World Cup Prediction Game
Like in one day match let's start a game on result of matches in world cup.
Here are the rules.
1. Prediction would be closed one hour before the match start.
2. Any body can predict any number of results of one single match. But the last one would count.
3.The point system would be as follow
a. Perfect Prediction (correct winner and score) 4
b. Correct Prediction (correct prediction and correct difference of score) 2
c. Allmost Correct Prediction (only correct prediction) 1
In cases of drawn matches c would be counted as b.
For example. Team A beat Team B 2-0. X predicts Team A beat Team B 2-0.Y predicts Team A beat Team B 4-2 and Z Team A beat Team B 3-0. In this cases X would get 4, Y would get 2, Z would get 1. In another match Team C and Team D draws match 0-0. X predicts the match 0-0 and Y predicts the match 1-1. In this case X would get 4 and Y get 2.
So Let the game begins

Forget prediction games in a forum. If you want a pool there are some online, I am doing one at work and with some friends at www.jocandi.com . It's straight-forwarded, allows you to predict each game upto 5 hours before kickoff, calculates rankings of pool participants, and costs $1 or 1 Euro to play (payment by paypal to purchase seats). Downside is you have one day to organize and get people signed up. If anyone is interested in my pool ($10, winner takes the pot), send me an U2U but we don't have too many spots left. thanks

rafiq bhai,
that would be gambling. I suggest you walk away and join in this forum prediction thread. No money involved no harm done.

With less than 24 hours till the first game, maybe we should start predicting and thebest can allocate the points later (providing he doesn't make an appearance before the match starts)...

thebest bhai shud be the point allocator, everyday there will be a new thread for our predictions (no matter how many games) and we can make 1 post with all our predictions for the day (we can edit the post 1 hour b4 the match).
After the games the points can be allocated and tallied in a table maybe.
When we used to play this prediction games the point system was much simpler, 3 points for a right prediction with the right scoreline (includes predicting draw), 2 points for a right prediction and atleast 1 right score (for e.g u predict 2-0 and the game ends 1-0, or u predict 8-2 but the game finishes 4-2) & 1 point for only the right prediction.
But as you started the idea, we shud go with ur point system. Hopefully this will be fun.

Also, forgot to mention, in some of our prediction games (way bak in high school) to make it more fun... we had Bonus Challenges, if you can predict the winning team (or draw) + 1 right score + 1 of the scorer (in any side) you get 6 points !!!!
But if all ur predictions are right but ur predicted scorer doesnt score you get 0 (its like dare).
So just saying Brazil & Ronaldo doesnt give you 6 points (with the highest probability of this being correct), you have to get atleast 1 of the 2 scorelines correct to get the 6 points...
ahh those memories....

i guess someone/organiser should start a poll for the games in that day and schedule it to close before the start of the game. only the polls can be scheduled not a normal thread, so people should just reply to that post with predicted score. organiser should have another thread where he will calculate each day how many points the participants have earned so far. it will be fun.......

1 more hour to predict for Germany - Costarica and 4 more hour for Poland game. So far we have 3 prediction
Best, Cat's Eye 2- 0 in favor of Germany
Banglatiger 1-0 in favor of Germany.
Regarding bonus mentioned by ialbd we may discuss later because there is some problem. If one predicts 1 goal each by x and y and another predicts 2 goal by x, though both predict 2-0 and incidenly x score the only goal whom to get the bonus and how? It is like spread betting? If somebody willing to take care of bonus, i could add it in point tally.

Damn! I'm too late for the Germany - Costa Rica game (would've gone for 3-0) but I will predict that Poland win 2-1 against Ecuador.

Point Tally After First Day
No one has a perfect prediction in any of the match; We got horribly wrong on Ecuador - Poland match. Cat's eye and I lead the board as we predicted correct difference of score. So the point tally after first day
Cat's Eye 2
The Best 2
Banglatiger 1
Miraz 1
Abdul W 1 (for this time I consider you as you have submitted just after the scheduled close but well before game started)
