Tunisia can still qualify if they can beat the Ukraine.

Sweden is dominating the game now. Gerrard made a goal line save.

Sweden equalise! Henrik Larsson!
Doesn't really change anything as England would still win the group.

I hope Ecuador wakes up in 2nd round against England. They are much better than the way they played against Germany today.

that second one from sweden shouldn't have gone in at all...that was like the lamest piece of defending that i have seen in quite some time...it just rolled in. they just can't beat the swedes, can they? whatever happened to the so-called best defence in the world? couldn't hold on to the lead for 7 minutes?
damnit!

France has scored 1 goal in the last two world cups. how many did Saudi's score? Just against the Tunisia they scored twice as much. At least they qualify for the world cup fair and square. Not like france. Couldn't qualify in 1994. Wouldn't qualify if they weren't the host in 1998. Rigged the final sent Ronaldo to the hospital hours before the game. In the match we all saw how much drugged he was.
And there is Zidane. Twice he intentionally used his hands and got unpunished in the last match. He was suppose to get a red card. Anyways, he is not going to play the next one. I don't want to see a dirty player.
Both England and France will pay for their sins. Eng 66. France 98.

J Cole's first goal could very well be the best one in the tournament. The way he dodged the Swedish defenders to put the cross across to Gerrard for the second goal was also very impressive.

There is no reason for you to use profanity. If you can't argue then don't post at all. May be you are a blind supporter of Zidane and you fail to see his faults. But that doesn't make him pure. Didn't he receive another match ban in the last world cup too? He may be talented but is a dirty player and a cheat. I don't like these type of players.

It may sound stupid to you cause may be you have not watched the games. Find a rerun of the last Frances game against Korea Republic and see how many intentional hand ball did Zidane commit. Go to the Stat books and see how many goals France scored. Read the papers before 1998 finals and see what happened to Ronaldo.
Some members were discussing there is no reason for Saudi Arabia to be in this World Cup. I ask the same question why wouldn't it be the same for France?

Interesting point Cats_eye... do you really think France did something to Ronaldo before the final in 98? If so, can you give us a little more details...

I also heard Ronaldo was drugged before the final. But I heard it was not by any French citizen but an alien from Mars who happened to be a French Supporter. The drug was unknown and un-traceable to human mankind; therefore the diagnosis in the hospital was inconclusive.

The owner of Ronaldo's Italian club, Massimo Moratti criticized Zagallo for allowing Ronaldo to play after he suffered from convulsions just hour's before Sunday's World Cup final.

Ronaldo's fit caused hotel panic
PARIS (CNN/SI) -- Cries of "he's dead, he's dead" filled the Brazil team hotel after Ronaldo was found having a convulsive fit on Sunday, the hotel director said in a radio interview on Wednesday.
Ronaldo became sick in his team's hotel on the outskirts of Paris just hours before the World Cup final, and he had to be rushed to a hospital. Later, he played poorly against France in Brazil's 3-0 win.

Neurologist questions Ronaldo decision
Convulsive fit likely hampered striker's performance

If this is not called drugged that what is drugged I have no idea.
Brazilian newspaper Lance claimed last week that Ronaldo had eight injections of the pain-killer xylocaine during the 1998 tournament, causing a fit before the final against hosts France which Brazil lost 3-0.

Many people were baffled at the time as to why Ronaldo, who played the entire 90 minutes despite looking dazed, was fielded in the first place and have not been convinced by the subsequent official explanations.

A simple google search can shed more light. I want to end this matter because this is 2006 match thread. i don't want to beat the dead donkey. It will not change anything. People who like France will continue to ignore the facts.

Happy for the Ivory Coast, come back from 0-2 to win 3-2. Dindane with 2 goals could of had the hat-trick decided to give the PK to the Kalou who's probably making his last cap for the Ivory Coast very classy.
Overall very entertaining game chances for both teams, bad officating with lots of cards which made it even better.
Mexico-Portugal was another fun game to watch, surprising to see a world class player like Márquez to stick his hand out like that even better to watch Omar choke on the PK for the tie.
Glad I didn't watch holland-Argentina, saw the staring lineups and saw that crespo was sitting. Didn't see it but looked like Riquelme had the one good chance. Messi probably plays better when he comes of the bench late in games

Holland-Portugal should be interesting. So should Sweden-Germany.
As for the other two second round games that have been decided so far, the results are pretty predictable. England and Argentina should qualify to the QF's without much of a problem.

i think, brazil was beaten fair and square by a better and tougher french side. ronaldo simply didnt receive that many quality balls which he is used to, because france had a super midfield and defence in that WC. also ronaldo i guess is over rated, he simply wouldnt be that good a scorer if he was with any other team than brazil.
