Portugal has some sort of historical connection with us..

1. their flag is also RED and GREEN..like us
2. they used to be a regular trading partner back in the 1700
3. most christians of our country we're converted by the portugese
4.we still hv portuguese churches in some part of the country, eg, barisal

so everyone..let us support Portugal and hope the world gets to see something out of the ordinary.. we dont want the world cup to be a divine right for some exclusive countries.. it need to go around...
If you insist on justifying your support this way -- I guess I should remind you of the French artillery officer Monsieur Sinfray, who along with 40 French soldiers under his command, fought in support of Nabab Siraj Ud Daulah in the Battle of Palashi.

Did I just convert Sydney's support from Portugal to France?

My choice of the winner and support in the order
France: The most artictic team still remain. I want Zizu; the greatest player of his generation to retire as a champion.
Germany : Playing the way it should be play. The new Holland. Though I hate them for beating Argentina. But it is more for Pekerman then Germany. So I forgive them.
Italy : So boring but play fair (might be australian supporter disagree)
Portugal : They are still pirate (Battle of Nuremburg or the way they persude ref to give red card to Roony; I know he deserved

Two beautiful goals in the last 3/4 minutes and Italy is through. They played it smart. Their defense can take them all the way.
As for Germany, they'll put up a great show in the third/fourth decider.

Hard to admit that Brazil was outclassed and outplayed, eh?

C'mon, you know it: the way they played this tournament, they didnt deserve to reach the semis :p

Brazil didn't play upto its potential.Ronaldinho was totally off-color in this World cup,Ronaldo was not in his best .Pele said he was missing that fighting spirit like Zidane, for whom every match was like the last match of his career.France did all the attacking after the first 20 mins.Man to man Brazil was a much superior team but to win it needs to outclass the opponent on the field ,which Brazil failed.I don't like the way France play their football.

Italy are a class act. They mightn't be the most entertaining football side but are so very solid at the back. Keeping Germany to 0 is quite an achievement. Event when they're dominated such as by the Socceroos I was never comfortable in that game because I knew Italy could respond at any moment and take the barrage of attack. I'm certainly not angry with them as I am with Croatia

no mate..im not denying the France played better football THAT day...
its just that i never liked France in world football( i like them otherwise)

the problem with Brazil was they were over-confident...
and lead to their ruins...

No offence, but that statement is simply not true.

The French defence is better than Brazils, while Makalele and Vieira are 2 of the best defensive midfielders. On top of that Henry is a better striker than Ronaldo ro Adriano. The two teams are equal more or less in terms of strength
