Pujara, Umesh could be part of India A squad for Bangladesh
Quote:
Pujara, now a virtual specialist red ball batsman for India, will play in the two-match 'A' series that will precede the senior series. He may even be asked to lead the A side but that decision has not yet been taken.

Apart from Pujara, the selectors may also include someone like Umesh Yadav in the A squad that will leave for Bangladesh after November 20.

There is also a similar case for KS Bharat, the reserve wicket keeper in the Test squad, but it has not been finalised.

Sarfaraz Khan, the highest scorer in the last Ranji season, will be part of the squad. There may be a case for Bengal top order batsman Abhimanyu Easwaran too.

In the last 20 years, I don't think we have ever played an A series with India, England, Australia, or New Zealand. Whatever the reason, this is a very big and important A series for us.

Decent A squad. Would rather have seen Yasir or Nurul ahead of Mithun. Hopefully Musfik plays the 2nd match.

Hope it’s streamed in decent quality.

Mosaddek has been a better batter than Yasir in all formats, it's puzzling that he has been left out of the ODI series to make space for Yasir.

Why was Zakir sent to open?! Are not our team management aware that he bats at #4 in longer versions?

It's time to drop Joy back at his natural position #3 as well. We should not be using makeshift openers at this level.

I honestly don't recall Mossadek ever doing anything in all the chances he has gotten. Oh yeah, he scored some runs against Ned in T20 WC. He has been utter mediocre in all the formats despite the chances he got.

Yasir is a decent prospect. So is Mosaddek. Problem is Mosaddek is wasted down the order regardless of format. He is a top 5 batter but routinle bats at 7 or 8, and occaisionally at 6.

excellent fightback by Shanto and Zakir. Zakir looks pretty good from what I have seen. Decent prospect. We already know about Shanto and Mosaddek's talent. Its a matter of getting these guys quality opportunities like this.

Part of the issue for us has been that our Big 4 has been so solid across formats, that its given very limited opportunities to next generation to cement their spots. Thats where A team fixtures like this is very important. Not just playing random Academy sides, but proper A teams from top 5 countries, and when that is not possible arranging A team tours of West Indies, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Ireland.

Match drawn!

Zakir with a valiant 173. Shanto and Mosaddek had the only other decent batting performances with half centuries each. All 3 should be in the Test squad IMO. Zakir has batted well for quite some time now I believe.

For the second match -

OUT: Shanto, Taijul, Khaled, Shoriful
IN: Shahadat Hossain, Hasan Murad, Musfik Hasan, Ashikuzzaman

Zakir Hasan has been injury replacement for Tawhid Hridoy from first match.

Our performances in this series are absolutely mortifying with so many actual test players involved. What the hell is going on?
