The stats brigade will be all over you and say Nasum needs to be in the team or there will be guys accusing of you not watching t20 as this is normal in T20.

This game is a write off. A harsh reality of what Bangladesh batsman are really like as they got many chances in the past few games due to poor fielding from the Irish.
I dont care what the intel says, but Rony is a domestic hack. Nasum should only be selected on spin tracks.

Shoriful shouldn't go to India. Not good enough.

There is a place for hacks at the top of the order in T20. If he's getting runs and getting them quickly I couldn't care less about his footwork. Unless you want Anamul and Naim playing run a ball innings at the top in 2023. We can't have a player in the squad for Mirpur only. Get Tanvir in and give him an extended run.

Without any footwork I doubt he will make much runs. Reality is Rony is a walking wicket as he doesnt have that talent against quality bowling.

And because I was recently accused of not watching other t20 matches, such nonsense bowling by Hassan Mahmud is common among leading international bowlers

Hasan Mahmud certainly has many things to improve on, however, he is still one of our top bowlers. I don't really care much about T20 bowling as all bowlers can be expensive, but he has decent start to ODI so far: 7 innings, 13 wickets, 22.15 ave.

I'm actually stunned we won a game. Proper convincing victory too, albeit BD clearly rotated a bit.
Can't wait to see us play in whites again, even though it'll be brutal viewing. 5 damn years without a Test, ridiculous

Liton would have feasted on Punjab bowling on this pitch. Shakib wouldn't have gotten a spot. Silly BCB - afraid of losing to ireland in test in mirpur

Despite the advice by many BCB directors, Papon didn't back off - both Shakib and Liton are included in the Test squad.
As expected, Shadman got a recall while Zakir is still nursing his injury. Selectors stuck with Joy despite his recent poor form. On the other hand, BCL top scorer Jaker Ali has been ignored after participating in net sessions with T20I team at Sylhet.
Test Squad:
Tamim Iqbal, Shadman Islam, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan (capt), Liton Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Khaled Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, Shoriful Islam, Mahmudul Hasan Joy
IN: Tamim Iqbal, Shadman Islam, Shoriful Islam, Ebadot Hossain
OUT: Zakir Hasan, Yasir Ali, Nurul Hasan, Rejaur Rahman Raja, Nasum Ahmed

If we can't win a test without Shakib (and liton - not as impactful as Shakib) against a depleted Ire squad, where is our test cricket going then? Lol

I don't think its fear of Ireland that caused this decision from BCB/Papon. The way Ireland were trounced this series, the only reasonable prediction is that Bangladesh should win the Test by an innings or 300+ runs or 10 wickets.
Of course if Zimbabwe could beat us in 2018 and Afghanistan in 2019, then Ireland could also potentially win. No matter the odds, the game is only played on the field.
Its not often, but I wholly agree with Papon on this Shakib/Liton IPL matter. Missing one week of IPL won't hurt them. And I also don't understand this fascination with the overhyped IPL. No one outside India cares about this league. Yes, its the best of the franchise leagues, but that ain't sayin much.
Players don't get better from playing in IPL. If this was the case India would have won more ICC events than they have since the IPL began. Shakib and Fizz have played many years in IPL and they are the same players they were back when they first started. Ditto for any player with perhaps a rare exception.

Praying we can bat first and scrape 250. It'd be a miracle. There's every chance the first innings is over before I even wake up

Besides bowling only three overs, he let Tamim be the field captain as well. With Papon being such a nuisance for him, I will not be surprised if he retires from Test cricket all together before Afghan series.

Papon is scared of losing against IRE. We are actually in a spot of bother.

With shakib I am not surprised, no matter who is being a nuisance for you, you just don't do this not caring when playing for your country.

We are just a very mediocre team when it comes to Test Cricket. I can understand why Papon and others asked Shakib to stay back for the IRE Test. Hopefully Shakib gets compensated.
