rana is nominated among the ICC emerging player of the year award
there's a good news after the gloomy day after.
manjar Rana is nominated along the likes of Kevin Pietersen and Ian Bell for this years best emerging player.
though, he doesn't have any chance at all versus KP or IB,this ugly (among the mega star full-baboo's) but a real fighter brings the very mention of Bangladesh for a positive & bright (which is very rare like bd is competing a test for 3 or 4 days) cause.

Nope. This is pointing to our selectors that "you are all rubish. You select players who have potential not who performs."

Yes, it is.
Unfortunately, this is going to stir up Rana fans. Just when I though I could quit Rana bashing, since he's now officially considered as Chacha's replacement and not going to be in the test XI easily

Manjural is a good young player, and is just as the award states....EMERGING player. We should be proud and happy for him, and also open mindedly think well if the world are considering a Bengali....MAnjural in this category, he must be doing sumthing right, and why does he not get into our teams...only if there is an injury.

Good on Rana! I hope this spurs him on to really work on his game, and go from strength to strength. Best of luck! Make us proud.

Manjarul Islam Rana- The Emerging Player 2005 ICC
Here is Manjarul Islam Rana for you. The most underrated player and left on the benches or being a super sub and not getting a test place but look the ICC recognizes his talent and they are wrong at all. He is the most consistent performer for Bangladesh and he is a damn good allrounder. Looking at his stat, what impressed me most was his ODI econ. rate the most important as a bowler, which is even better than our supposedly best bowler Mortaza (5.07) while Rana has a econ rate of 4.1. And been the man of the match in atleast 2 occasions if I remember correctly!
I see many members with player A and player B, but I am angry and disgusted of the selectors and the management. And yes the coach to an extent! This is guy is in the list with another Bangladeshi guy, Aftab, and Kevin Pieterson.
I hope this will make one and all understand his potential as a true performer and solidy his position more in the team.

As it was mentioned many times before, his bowling is not suitable for tests. Look at his test average of 80.20.
However, his batting is really considerable and probably better than most of our top order, he can come in to give us solid 25 or so. Question is, is regular 25 better than once in a moon 150+?

I would take the century scorer. The century scorer sometimes may look bad compared to the 25 scorer, because if the century scorer 25 then we think he's underperforming.

This is neither a joke, nor an attempt of ICC to dig out anything positive possible from Bangladesh. This is true recognition to a player who works as hard as anybody and have performed more often than not when called upon.
I am not a member of any so-called Rana fan club, and yes there could have a better nominee from Bangladesh in this category, but Rana's nomination is fully deserved.

Ok ...this is the way i see it...
when ever a Bangladeshi isnt nominated or selected for anything... its unfair
when ever a Bangladeshi is nominated....its a joke...
Anyway.... Rana definatly is an emerging player and the nomination is fully deserved.
