you are satisfied too easily aren't you ? you can say no negatives only when the team wins against Aus or Ind by an innings.

Good one Neel Too much of Siddons bashing was going on here. Although I'd Imagine they could do much better than this with the bat. Rokibul needs to find the gap/rotate the strike. Junaid wasn't his self today, he should try get more boundaries.

I caught the game from the 13th over of the Kiwi innings and here are my observations:
- There was good body language. Even prior to Shakib's double wicket over, the team looked confident (even though Mash was done for). The team seemed to be having fun being on the field despite McCullum hitting away. This is something that was lacking most of the year.
- Everyone chipped in (although it was Shakib's show) from all the top order batsmen to the bowlers. Riad and Naeem made up with the ball what they couldn't do with the bat. Its much better to see a well distributed 228 as opposed to a one century score.
- Again, of course, it is our bowling that wins us the match
- Couple of easy missed run outs towards the end which shows that correct communication on the field is still lacking
This was a pleasing win. Despite all my criticism of the team and especially the coach, I still go into each match believing we will win. The only difference between this one vs. the past few wins is that I wasn't surprised by it. Thats a good thing which means this was win to match up to expectations. Hopefully we can get one more from the next two and make the Black Caps sweat out the entire series.

Ya batting has to improve by a lot..we're lucky Shakib got us to a competitive total..too many starts and no half centuries..I'll start with Imrul..he was blocking everything with a dead bat..he needed to show a little more intent then that..he's been our best batsman statistically but it didn't look like it at all when he was in the middle..SN showed really good intent but his technique is so faulty..he had some nice looking shots but he was lucky he wasn't out earlier and I thought he was supposed to be good against spin? Didn't look like it to me but I understand he hasn't played international cricket in a while so I won't be as hard on him..Zunaed still doesn't seem to comfortable with spin still which is worrying since he's gonna face a lot of Vettori..he got bogged down 2 much in my opinion..Rock was horrible from the start..played all of his deliveries with either a dead bat or straight to the fielder..I just can't understand why he was so bad after that impressive 76 against England..same thing with Mushy..he could have easily put some deliveries through the gaps but hit it straight to the fielder and then all of a sudden went for a poor shot..and then Naeem and Riyad were the worst..all they had to do was 2 give Ice Man the strike and instead were just focusing on blocking..ya we have a lot of work to do on our batting..the pitch was a bit on the sluggish side but our batsmen definitely have to improve their performance..its not every day where we can win matches like these..

It was a good win. But please don't forget that basically we won because of D/L method. I am not taking anything away from the win, yet we should not forget that we didn't score enough runs on the board.

Hate to admit this... But first year of Jamie Siddons.. he said.. I dream of a day when BD will win collectively and not by one person performing... Although Shakib performed brilliantly... everyone chipped in... I like this.

It is a good win and we are happy for now.
But our pace attack has dwindled sharply, Mahmudullah and Naeem are struggling.
In case Shakib does not perform brilliantly, I wonder what will happen then.

I agree Sadi bhai, it was a good win, full marks to the boys for the fight and achieving the win, but we are coming to a stage where we also should see the improvement areas even we win against G8.
Batting was really mediocre. It was a better pitch than this. We got away by some good spin bowling and inexperienced NZ batting. Riyad and Nayeem still are the concern. I still think only one of them should play in the XI and we should have an extra bowler. Though Nayeem did bowl well, but he is not a solution for the 5th bowler.
Again, no plan for batting PP. They are thinking negatively as if they would better off if there was no batting PP. We need to utilize this, like PP could have been taken when Sakib and Mushy was set in the crease.
Glad to see Razzak bowling well. He is a very important player in the line up.

I can't think of any obvious mistakes like dropped catches, apart from two simple run-outs missed at the end of the New Zealand innings, but I think that was due to nerves rather than technique.
One fielder I was impressed with was the sub, I think it was Shuvo (the bearded guy). He was brilliant in the field saving runs, particularly during the end of New Zealand's innings when the pressure was intense, he collected the ball and threw it back with sharp accurate throws.
However some of the umpiring was very dubious, in particular the 3rd umpire, who was simply awful. It seemed like he didn't know the rules which is very worrying. He failed to give Junaid Siddique out after a he was stumped where it was very obvious from the replays that no part of his foot was behind the crease line. Also he inexplicably ruled a waist high full toss from Riyad (spinner, so shouldn't be judged a dangerous ball) as a no-ball, the ball was hit by Vettori and caught. It was quite a farce as the umpires on the field gave Vettori out but he stood his ground and asked for a referral (against the spirit of the game), and then the umpires cowardly submitted and referred it to the 3rd umpire.

BD leads 3-0 ! I knew a situation like this would be a matter of time and hoped I'll be around to record it in this thread, but frankly hadn't expected it to happen so quickly !
that too without tamim and mash !! well done guys !
now for the first proper test and then test series win. (kindly don't bring the WI win into discussion, it was an achievement alright but people will always add footnotes to that win. BD can do much better.)

Now I do agree that signs of improvements are unmistakable. But the signs of improvements are visible mostly in bowling and fielding. The credit should go to bowling and fielding coach for that. Batting also has some improvements though not much.
The place which needs most attention is strategy. The boys now have killer instincts. But the head coach doesn't.He is happy with so called 46-50 overs PP strategy.

Players certainly have made a huge leap in mental strength in the series (which was so frustratingly lacking in large part of Siddons era).
We finally got a specialist fielding coach which certainly seems to be making a difference. At same time Salahuddin now can solely concentrate on spinners which is also making a difference.
Rubel and Shafi now seem to know better what line and length they have to bowl on Mirpur, don't know if this because experience or Pont.
Shakib and Tamim (in the previous tour) seem to be growing from strength to strength as batsmen. Imrul also seems to be developing.
However, rest of the batting side seem to be regressing. BCB had a great idea in hiring Ganguly as a consultant till WC'11, unfortunately they have not fallen through with their decision!
