BD-A vs WI-A FC Series, May 2023

Bangladesh A-team will play three FC matches against visiting West Indies A-team. All the matches will be played at Sylhet.

Schedule:
1st Match: May 16 - 19
2nd Match: May 23 - 26
3rd Match: May 30 - June 2

Shadman Islam, Zakir Hasan, Saif Hasan, Mohammad Naim, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Afif Hossain (Captain), Jaker Ali (WK), Shahadat Hossain Dipu, Nayeem Hasan, Tanvir Islam, Rishad Hossain, Rejaur Rahman Raja, Musfik Hasan, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Ripon Mondol

Momin said in an interview last month that he was hoping to be in the team for this series, as he has been out of competitive cricket for quite some time. Looks like selectors preferred Naim over him as Naim is the current leading scorer in DPL, though he doesn't have FC stats to back this selection. Another example of picking a player based on performances in the wrong format

Also, I wonder on what basis they picked Afif and even made him captain!

Overall, looks like Abahani players are preferred over many others more deserving of selection in the long format. Out of the 15 members squad, 8 players (Naim, Joy, Afif, Jaker, Tanvir, Rishad, Sakib, Ripon) are from Abahani. Which would have been fine if they're deserving players. But Afif, Naim, Rishad, Sakib, or Ripon have not really done much in FC format so far to claim those spots.

Afif leading the A-team in a FC series is a joke. He's taking the opportunity trying to impress the selectors to pick him back in the ODI team. Saif also seems to have the same motivation, though he has done better to score some runs.

Find of the series so far is Dipu who has shown sound techniques and temperaments scoring his runs.

Shadman is making a strong claim for a recall to the Test squad ahead of Zakir.

For the third and last match, five new players will be added to the squad - Momin, Yasir, Nurul, Shoriful, and Mrittunjoy.

Resting Shadman and adding Test players to the A-team backfired badly. Innings defeat in the last match looks inevitable.

Very true. Bangladesh is too far behind other test teams.

A clear non-run out given. These will happen in cricket. No point making a mountain about it. Victim complex like this doesn't help the team and is just an excuse. If we will be world champions, we should carry ourselves like one.
