Mohammad Ashraful Matin
Career  Sketch by Miran Rahman

Classy looking opener and attacking leg spinner. Arguably the most promising young player to make his mark in Bangladesh's first, first-class  season of 2000-2001, excelling with both bat and ball, (scored 157 and took 7/99 in one match against Chittagong).  Still rather inconsistent however. Hit a fine, unbeaten century against the Australian Academy in a fifty over match in 2001.
Career highlights:
  • National League 00/01: Scored 157 and took 7/99 in one match against Chittagong in the Super league.
  • On his ODI debut against Zimbabwe (04-11-01) he scored 9 runs and took 1 for 24.
  • Test: His 114 against Sri Lanka on debut made him the youngest test centurian.
  • Scored 76 in the second test against Sri Lanka, July 2002.
  • Scored 75 in the second test against Pakistan, 2003
  • 108 for Bangladesh A in the Patrons Trophy, Pakistan, 2004
  • Scored 98 in the first test against Zimbabwe, 2004
