Enamul Haque Moni
Career Sketch by Miran Rahman

Ageing, languid looking left arm spinner who has been a stalwart of the side
for a long time now, helping to steer Bangladesh through a sizeable period
of Associate status.  Impressed television commentators with his classical
bowling action in England in 1999 but has had little success in ODIs.  Like
his fellow slow left armer, Mohammed Rafiq, he has struggled to dominate on
unhelpful pitches but in Bangladesh, in the longer version of the game, he
has contributed some miserly marathon bowling spells.  He made life
difficult for England 'A' in 1999 and also seems to do well at home against
West Indian sides, (see below).  Like Rafiq he is a competent batsman but
plays in a much more measured and orthodox style.  An excellent debut
first-class domestic season, (over fifty wickets and handy contributions
with the bat) means that he remains an option for the selectors, despite his
age.

Career highlights:
  • 5/57 and 32 in first-class match against the West Indies in 19994/91
  • 76 and 37 in first-class match against West Indies 'A' in 1998
  • 74/3 from 43 overs against Zimbabwe (First test, Nov 2001)
  • 4/25 in one-dayer against West Indies 'A' in 1998
  • 4/107 (49.2overs, 16 maidens) in first-class match against England 'A' in 1999
  • 3/24 against Kenya in warmup match for 2000 ICC knockout tournament
  • 4/45 in day-nighter against Australian Academy XI in 2001
