Players will score points for matches in the 2003 Cricket World Cup as follows: BATTING: Every 10 runs scored = 1pt, Every 50 runs scored = extra 3pts, Player out for no runs (excluding bowlers) = minus 2pts. Scoring Rate (20 runs minimum): 0.00-49.99 runs per 100 balls = minus 1pt, 50.00-74.99 runs per 100 balls = 0pts, 75.00-99.99 runs per 100 balls = 2pts, 100 runs per 100 balls and over = 4pts. BOWLING: Wicket taken = 2pts, Every 3 wickets taken = extra 3pts. Economy Rate (5 overs minimum): 3.50 or less runs per over = 4pts, 3.51-4.50 runs per over = 2pts, 4.51-5.50 runs per over = 0pts, 5.51-6.50 runs per over = minus 1pt, 6.51 runs per over or more = minus 2pts. actually, i just wanted to see how they fared in comparison, wasnt really all that serious to begin with. But now that they have proven they well and truly suck...i am not doing any more experiments.

for bd players, what was required was a control experiment. thus i have 2 teams, one with and one without. while my bangali-free (no kapalis, no gangulis) team will ultimately beat the board member formerly known as habibul-fan, my team with 2 deshis is languishing in second last place. even my son, currently in last place because he was disinterested early on and thus didn't have any phase one points, may beat that team.

I concede as well. I have 7 players to change! I was sure SA would go through and WI. So I have two players from each, while I didn't pick any NZ players because I thought they would be the ones to miss out. Almost got it right as well, if SA had just scored one more run! Also, I thought England would go through after beating Pakistan so comprehensively. Again rain had to spoil that by washing out Pak-Zimbs. There is on way that Pak would have gotten the required RR to go through, but at the same time, they probably would have beaten Zimbabwe. Oh well, hopefully I'll have better luck next time.

Thanks to the god forsaken rules, most of us are stuck with players who are already out of the cup. In a way, it makes sense, it a test of our prediction skills and we missed out on predicting who will go through to the next round.

Anyways, I see that my better half is kicking my arse horribly. I must plan sabotage (I know her password, muhahahaha) or i won't hear the end of it ... :0

Why does this always happen to me ? She supported kenya and they are almost in the Semis and I supported BD, if rain did not come down on WI, we'd be bottom of the 14 team tournament. You know how sad it is for a test nation ?

aargh - totally forgot phase 5 transfers - too bad as I didn't have any kenyans on my A team, and just one on my B team. my strategy was going to be to change the same players I shared with james - looks like 3rd place is the best I can do. I need to give props to my son who missed all of phase 1 (and phase 5 transfers) but has managed to pull himself off the bottom and will probably beat my B team before it is over! and they were mostly his own picks with just a little help...

ps no thanks to hayden, he was a dog the entire tournament !
