View Full Version : Shame, Shame ...

Two debutant youngsters - Mushfiqur Rahim & Shahadat Hossain can stay at the wicket long enough to take Bangladesh pass 180 mark, and yet, the rest of the youngsters - from Mashrafee to Ashraful, nobody can even put their heads down and try to save a losing match.
Now if that is not shameful for Iqbal, Aftab and Enamul Junior, who have already played for Bangladesh for almost over a year, and also for experienced youngsters like Ashraful, Rajin, Mashrafee & Talha, then I don't know what is.
And let us forget about Bashar - he is experienced and successful enough not to play in any practice match.

The problem with BD players, at the begining they tried at their best to get a place in the team. While the place is semi permanent they become another Ash, Rajin, or whatever.
Hope this group (SN, MR, SH) will be different.

In your "leave alone" list, I would also add Mashrafee since he's a proven consistent performer like Bashar

Is he? He is not exactly a 'successful' player in either Test cricket or in ODI cricket. He never took a 5-for in either Tests or in ODIs. And if you call him an all-rounder, then how many times did he take 3 wickets or scored 50s?

Mashrafee is not yet considered as an allrounder, he's still a bowler who can bat somewhat.
And Mashrafee's bowling stats is way better than Irfan Pathan, if you take out their bowling against BD and crippled Zimbabwe out of equation. Then Mashree's test bowling average becomes 36 and Pathan's average goes way higher (~67, IIRC). With this same method of calculation, his strike rate also becomes much better than Irfan Pathan.

I don't think the glass is half-empty. The way the two debutants carried it through is encouraging to say the least. Obviously both of them are playing to get in the first-11.
I'll bet that at least a couple of guys who thought they are permanent fixtures in final-11 are taking notice and will try to come back well in the 3rd practice match. One of them is Rajin, I'm sure. This is healthy to have intra-team variation of fortunes.
Btw, you sound extremely depressed. So does a lot of others in the forum. Guys, don't stop eating or sleeping. Pls stay healthy. Staying up late nights at a stretch for 5 days will be draining :-)

Arey shame er ki asey ? What's the point of the thread like this ? That was expected caz we have given more than 500 runs in their first innings and it's so obvious we can't make that many runs in 3 innings even .
I am not sad for the defeat caz it always proves our class and reminds us how bad we are as we are , so we have learn more and more ......

completely true. facts are what people go by.
THE ONLY 2 consistent perfomers we have are basher and rafiq whose stats are good in test cricket, but no where near respectable figures in ODI crickets, hence why we struggle.

mushfiqur rahim has to prove himself more. an innins of 63 against weakened sussex team is not enough for him to make test debut. but i must say he is impressive after his senior failed. he reminds me of partiv patel of india. who also showed great talent in the beginning. i just hope mushfiqur rahim doesnt end up like partiv patel. that is why he should wait for some time before coming to the national team. and we have khaled mashud who is one of the best keeper in asia. musfiqur should stay with pilot and learn from him before selected to the national team.

First of all this was a practice match. The goal of a practice match is to practice. I think we think we had plenty of that, specially for the bowlers since they bowled for 116+ overs. For our batsman, I guess they could have stayed a little longer in the wicket. But, I am completely puzzled by the fact that people are upset because our bowlers, Mashrafee and Jr., were not able to stay at the wicket longer. May be I am just strange that way.
Anyway, when I watched the vedio, it looked like our pacers had no pace! Sussex pacers (lewry and van darth) had more pace than our pace trio. Is that just in the vedio? All the banglacricket fans that were at the groud, can you guys confirm that?
