This is what he had to say after the Lord's Test about us:
I would put money on us to beat the current Bangladesh line-up any day of the week
Before replying to this, just want to remind yourselves that we were beaten by Scotland in 1 out of 2 One Day practice matches during 2004 in Scotland, We beat them in the 1999 World Cup in Scotland in a One Day International, and before that, we were beaten comprehensively by them during our 1998 tour to Scotland in both the One Day matches as well as the longer version 3-day matches, and before that, we beat them in Malaysia during the ICC trophy 1997. So, our win-loss ratio quite is even-stevens.

Oh well. He can think whatever he wants. Scotland can beat us but not any day of the week. Sometimes maybe. Our team is much improved.
Although they can beat us if we bat like we did in the first test.

The reason is Scotland get to play county cricket to improve their game. But we never did, dont get it, will not get it. And wat a luxury for players like Hamilton, can play for England or Scotland. :P Mushfiqur Rahim did not even play against any A sides. Thats why it is not ok to give chance to a youngster suddenly. We should have tried to bring back players like Sanwar and Tushar Imran by playing them in a BD-BD A tournament. :umm:

I am pretty confident that the current BD team can handle Scottland with ease ... mainly because the mental pressure will not be there.
By the same token, cannot blame this guy for talking like that. He got his chance and we gave him that chance.
A relevant and well known story ...
Someone molested the lioness and the lion was looking for the culprit. The fox was seen speeding across the forest. When asked why he was running so fast, the fox said he was scared that the Lion would suspect him of the crime and that's why he wanted to get out of reach.

We had drawn the 2 three-day matches with Scotland national team and we were beaten in 2 Cairn Trophy One Day matches by Scotland national team during 1998. Below is the brief scorecard:
Bangladesh in Scotland
July 4 - Bangladesh vs Scotland (Cairn Trophy, Match 1)
Scotland 246/7-50.0 (G Salmond 81)
Bangladesh 207/10 -49 (Aminul Islam 70, Mohammed Rafique 58)
Result : Scotland won by 39 runs
July 5 - Bangladesh vs Scotland XI
Scotland XI 207-6 (A Simpson 45)
Bangladesh 208-8 (Faruque Ahmed 45)
Result : Bangladesh won by 2 wickets
July 7,8,9 - Bangladesh vs Scotland (3 Day Match)
Day 1 - Bangladesh 339/9 (Akram Khan 105, Aminul Islam 80) declared
Day 2 - Scotland 252/7 declared
Day 3 - Bangladesh 183/4 declared, Scotland 161/2 at close of play
Result : Match drawn
July 11 - Bangladesh vs Scotland (Cairn Trophy, Match 2)
Bangladesh 97/10 - 50 overs (Faruque Ahmed 50)
Scotland 99/3 - 33 overs (Hasibul Hussain 2 for 20, Morshed Ali Khan 10-5-6-1)
Result : Scotland won by 7 wickets, and won Cairn Trophy
July 14,15,16 - Bangladesh vs Scotland (3 Day Match)
Day 1 - Scotland 199 all out (Mohammed Rafique took 5 wickets), Bangladesh 19-0
Day 2 - Bangladesh 138 all out, Scotland 75-6
Day 3 - Scotland 178 all out, Bangladesh 187-5 (Aminul Islam 109 not out)

The current team, albeit much younger, is stronger than Scottland on both paper and the field. On an English pitch Scottland would fight almost equally (my guess). But on a subcontinental pitch, Scottland will get blown away.

Its a silly comment from Gavin Hamilton. Bangladesh is way way better than Scotland.

Why are you getting your knickers in a twist about this? This site seems to specialise in seeking slights wherever possible! A cricketer backing their own ability and the ability of their teammates. What do you expect their attitude to be? What do you think the attitude of cricketer towards their own team should be? So he would back his side to win. He didn't say every game.
He has some right to an opinion having actually played Bangladesh and would perhaps have won that game himself but for a freak runout. There is some justification for the players of that time looking surprised that they had just been playing a soon to be test team.
Anyway is this a formal invitation for further games or a tour? :) I'm sure Scotland would welcome the opportunity. For such a team these are the significant games in an international context. At least it would change the score from three all with one draw
PS: I do think your U19 players knock spots of Scotland's. It is just a pity that they are being asked to step up immediately to test cricket!
PPS: Yesterday we beat the county champions Warwickshire in a league one dayer bowling them out for 113 with a scot top scoring for them! Although typically we almost blew it. It appears to be a national trait. ;)

one thing scotland has over us is regular playing experience in england. Bangladesh would struggle against scotland if they played them over there, sad as that may be. But I doubt if Bangladesh would lose a series to Scotland anywhere. So we are back to comparing ourselves to non-Test teams? Where is Kenya?

right above scotland, given that scotland are right above us.

He can say what ever he wants to but there has to be logic behind that... Yeah only Asussies can say they will win against most of the teams all the time cause they have shown that but we have beat Scotland in Scotland (yeah it might be freak accident but if the umps where fare he could have been given out way before that).. So how can he say he can beat 10 out of 10? I would imagine him fare if he also mentioned that they don’t have a high chance @ BD like they have @ Scotland and beside we r not plying against you so why talk at all these B**l Sh***, seems like he has an agenda so that’s why people r pissed of on him and on his Piece of S…t mouth……

Trueblue,
I want to send a message to Gavin Hamilton through you as you seem to know him well.
My Massage:
My grandpa said he can bowl Gavin out with every single balls of every single over of every such attempt.
(the good thing for Gavin though is that my grandpa never really played this big guy's game cricket. He watched it from a distance all his life, and couldn't help but witness his grandchild joining the big boys):cool2:

well last time we toured scottland was in 1998. that was 7 years ago. we beat them in the world cup. i believe that we are much better team then 1998. scottland team didnt even make it to last years world cup. and their u-19 team got killed in bangladesh in last years world cup. so i dont know why he is running his mouth. maybe they should visit us in bangladesh. they can pick the days(because he said he can beat us any given day) and bcb should have their a-team or u-19 team play them. i dont believe that scottland team can beat our a-team in bangladesh. but in their home field they may give us little more trouble but i still dont think they are any match for our team. scottland needs to beat teams like usa, holond, namibia in regularly before he can start running his mouth. i believe kenya is the strongest out of all of those teams but at this moment i strongly feel that we can beat kenya too. for us we shouldnt look down we need to aim higher and which is westindies. i think we should invite them sometime next year to play a series. in our soil we will give them really tough time. and if it is our day i believe that we can beat them also.
