My friend lives a few blocks away from Aldgate East station. Just had a talk with her. I could still hear the panic on her voice. She was about to catch the subway on her way to work when the bomb blasted this morning. This is horrific!

Another cowardly act by the Terrorists!!!
Here is the message I got from Asif (Srabon):
"We are all okay, guys! Thanks! Scary bit is the Altgate East stop where a lot of injury happened is where Eeshita get off for work one hour later.
Anyway, all is well. Very depressing and having dreadful memories of 9/11.
Will be a long walk to home today as Buses and trains are closed. The ambulances are running outside. Every one is stunned. Specially this is coming after yesterday's news of the olympics and people were really celebrating. They said it was inevitable and this has happened today."

During the press release today one of the press asked if Islamic Terrorists were responsible? The spokes person answered that it is irresponsible to put the two words together. Islamic and Terrorist. He said that it is not appreciated by the Islamic community and they do not condone such actions. He said that if the terrorists think that they are Islamic, they are sadly mistaken.
I think we've (the rest of the world whom is non islamic) come a long way since 9/11 to separate the difference. So far all the news reports on CNN and my local radio station have not put the two words together. Lets see if that holds up. I will do my part to correct people up here in Vancouver, Canada.
They said on the news that a group claimed responsibility on their web site. They are al-Qa'ida of Europe. I have not been able to find them. Anybody got any luck? Please post site here if you find it.
Thanks.
Good luck to all Londoners getting through this day.

Live minutes from Edgware Rd where 7 people died. Apart from the sadness and anger from the community at large, (many of whom are muslim) life goes on as usual. Friday prayers was an unusally quiet event with less people at the mosque and around the area than I have ever seen before.

You are right desi-pride. And some of the commentators on CNN say some pretty stupid stuff. Like today, one idiot said, "we need to go into these neighbourhoods and do a sweep, and find the terrorists. If 99,9 percent are not terrorists .1 percent are" I said to myself like, What the [ ]? I live in an south asian, middle east area myself, even though I'm white. The street sighn here infront of my house are in hindi. Anyway, it stupidity, you can't find or prevent kids who do this. Whether it's these kids, or Timothy Mcvay, or the Columbine kids, etc, etc. They were white, American kids. Why not go into those white neighbourhood kids and root out the evil problem. Even though 99 percent of those neighbourhoods are good, we need to find the 1 percent that are not.
Don't despair, sometimes, people just don't hear themselves talking. Most Amercans are pretty level headed people. As for the people dying in Iraq,, Palestine and Afganistan, etc, I totally agree with you, and so does most of the western world's people, incidently, just so you know. But not everyone can have power, and unfortunately those that have it, may be making some errors right now. I think Iraq sure was.
