Tigers_eye
August 10, 2005, 09:32 AM
Experince wise I Salisbury (287 and 243) has almost the same amount of games under belt as the entire BD-A team in First class and List A. Add in Mark Butcher and Saq Mushtaq it is not comparable. So this would be a good experience for this young side.

cricman
August 10, 2005, 10:52 AM
15 overs for us to bat an Ideal score for us would be 65/0

But what i think whats gonna happen is that it'll be 70/2 with Tushar and Abir on Strike

Can't agree more. Alok needs to be added to that list also if he is not bowling. Cause he is not a batsman. Including him as an allrounder and not letting him bowl is just taking up someone elses place.

The thing with stats is that it assumes an 'all things equal' background. Now can one honestly believe that if a 19-20 year old England bowler has played 15 first class matches over two years (plus countless reserve matches), he would be less prepared that a BD counterpart who has played two whole (16 game) season of NL?

These A-team tours are about learning not results. For e.g. Shahadat still prolly needs to learn how to bowl fast w/o giving a hit-me ball or two every over. He needs to learn how to change angles and pace when a batter is coming after you. Enam needs to learn to be patient. To not tr a wicket taking ball with every delivery. He doesn't need to become Rafique - ami khali line/length bowling koira jamu - but there is something to be gleaned from that kind of discipline that has let Pagla get more pheiffers than any other BD bowler.

August 10, 2005, 11:46 AM

Agreed Ian, just wanted to find out some positives from this innings.. It was nice to see that all of them scored little bit, usually in other matches, we always some good kncoks from 3 or 4 batsmen and the rest just flop..

why isn't Enamul bowling now?? This is third day pitch and the spinners should be operated more than the pacers! They might go for a few but they will pick up wkts also and thats what we need!

Lets just hope BD- A bat sensibly and save this match!

Tigers_eye
August 12, 2005, 09:02 AM
Yes! if they get 300 then there will not be enough overs to get a win. All BD could do is then is play for 40 overs and play a tame draw.

kaisermatin
August 12, 2005, 09:56 AM
in 2 hours BD will probably get 30 overs. so their target should be to make at least make a decent run rate. I would love to see agreesive batting. TARGET:
should be 200+. This will prepare them for the next 3 day.

Tigers_eye
August 12, 2005, 10:00 AM
Surrey batted 76 overs; 16 previous day! that means they already batted 60 overs today. That leaves 30+ overs for BD. This should be good enough to bat out. So a draw is on the cards. Unless someone bats like ash or there is a severe morok on the batting order.

I think we already have a moral victory here. Surrey did not feel comfortable declaring at a stage where BD could have a chance. A draw is inevitable here - still BD boys should score a decent total without losing too many wickets.

at the end of the day The Score count most..not merit.

we need more of these type of lower-end batsmen who contribute for the team-cause(& who cant handle a bat properly but scores),rather then the so called meritorious batsmen like kapalies

At the end,, it was not those test discards,, but the young BD A players that mattered for the impressive records the team is having. Nafis, Alok, Mushfiq etc. didnt shine as much as SK Russel, Tusher, Shahrier Nafees, Nazim and Mehrab did.

Good point. Is there a place where we could see the stat of the whole tour. Thanks.

Also Shahriar came in really strong at the end of the tour. His beginning wasn't good. I wish Nazim had the chance to bat 2nd down to show his skills a little better. Next game Nafis should replace Alok and Nazim should come 2nd down.

Why aren't our bowlers getting wickets in England? Not even the natiaonal team.
