Yup. 3 off spinners and 2 leggie swill give us our 4th ODI. The selection should be dynamic based on the pitch and opponent. After watching our performences for last 3 game, I know this is the winning combination.

However, this will sound idiotic to most cricket witz and will never happen.

Yup, doesn't make any sense to me. The spinners will get hammered in the first 15 overs. We atleast need one specialist seamer to bowl with the new ball. None of our spinners are really gonna do well with the new ball. The shine isn't going to suit any of them. Usually its the off-spinners that can bowl with the new ball. But, out of our three off-spinners, Durjoy and Moni are finger spinners, who will not grip the ball, so we are basically down to Rafique bowling with the new ball. Doesn't make sense. Rafique himself will be more effective when he can have the field he wants and the ball is older and grips better. And also, Khaled Mahmud will have to open the bowling with him! He got hit for 29 runs in 2 overs the other day. SA are gonna take him apart if he bowls with the hard new ball which will come on to the bat even better. This packing the team with 5 spinners may sound cool in theory, but it will majorly backfire in practice.

The only change I would make to the current side is to bring Monju back in place of Tareq Aziz. Thats it.

The pacers are getting hammered anyways. So spinners getting hammered wont matter.

Spinners are getting the wickets. Pacers are useless for BD in this pitch.

Durjoy can be taken off if you push too hard. Replace Durjoy with Masri and now you got Sujon and Masri for those 15 overs.

But I dont think we can stop getting hammered in the first 15 overs yet.

Well, Durjoy is not even in the squad, so thats not really an option. However, you do have a point about the spinners. What I would do is bring Sanwar back as an off-spinner in place of Tareq Aziz. He really has bowled pretty well. That would give us Tapash and Sujon as seamers, and then Rafique, Kapali, Sanwar and Ashraful as the spinners. Also, having Sanwar back strengthens our batting as well. Here is the team:

Opee
Ashraful
Sumon
Golla
Kapali
Akram
Sanwar
Mashud
Mahmud
Rafiq
Tapash

Masri is fully fit. I don't know why aren't playing him :( . Khoda box mredha was talking about it during btv bangla commentery. He thinks they want use masri in tests.

Well, my main point is we needed Moni as well as Rafiq. This is a spinner's pitch. He is not in the team. So what? We can get him. Even Moni, Rafiq, Sanwar, Kapali and Ash will give us a fighting attack.

As for Masri, I think we will see him in the test.

masri is effective for the slog over batting and as a good seemer. Why he is not been considered - there is no point in giving him rest while he is playing full swing in the league.

Dhaka is not really a spinner's pitch. It never has been. What it is is a batsman's pitch. There really is very little in it for the bowlers, whether seamers or spinners. The only difference is, our spinners are much better than our seamers so they tend to do much better.

I don't mind holding Masri back for the Test matches.

I would keep the same team that played India today. The only change we need is in bowlers only. We got to bring back either Mashraffe or Talha or Manjural Islam

Masri took 5 wickets in domestic cricket yesterday, against Mohamadan. Thats really good. Should get his confidence up in time for the Test series, when we badly need him because he is the only Bangladeshi bowler who can cause the SA batsmen some problems.

Then why not cause the problems today ?

Masri is the only fast bowler in the Bangladesh team who has some real FIREPOWER.

Some decisions we make are really hard to understand ---

We played the World Cup without Mehrab Hossain, Habilbul Bashar and Javed Omar.
Now we are playing the TVS cup without Masri. I can bet if Masri was in the team yesterday, India would have seen some GHOORNIJHOR. They were lucky because our selectors were WRONG!!

Ideally, I would not change the team at all. I think it is important that this team gets a vote of confidence from the selectors.

Tariq Aziz will prolly get dropped though. Putting Sanwar in his place sounds like a good plan.

Good thing that MASRI hasn't been selected to play. Let him recuperate playing under less stressful conditions.

Tareq Aziz may not be fully fit - or actually, if he's been bowling short, that could simply mean that he lacks ODI match fitness, i.e. stamina. Just speculating.

I say swap Aziz for Majnu baba.

And what about the technically superior Mashud ? Maybe he's just nagging for a position higher up the order - must have been evesdropping on his fan base here in this board.

I think they only used Tareq as a replacement for Talha to make TTMM but no replacement for Mashrafe....the TTMM would look something like this

Taposh Tareq
Mahmud Monjural

Except they dropped Monjural.....he should be brought back for Tareq

We need Masri all wickets were taken by spinners against India

actually didn't tariq aziz look better than tapash for the first 3 overs, before he got pelted for 16 consecutive runs (luckily I was in the garage for a few minutes and didn't have to see that). all these spinners sound great, but unless moni was coming back I am in favor of leaving the team alone for just one game, which in itself will be another accomplishment.

as for masri if he is to play please send an armored vehicle to escort him to the ground, you don't want him jumping on a scooter and hurting himself on the way over.
