Looks like BD and SL are the favorites of the Tournament. BD-U19 just had 3 back to back wins against Zim, Pak, and SA in the AAC. SL, likewise, won against these 3 teams. They also defeated BD by 8 wickets. They will be playing in the final against India. (SL lost to India in the same tournament by a massive 140 runs, while BD lost to India by 4 wickets).

Analyzing all these, and considering the advantage of home front, I am hopeful that BD will come out at the top. Furthermore, I think some of the players in the HP squad that trashed Eng- U19 recently might be called up for BD U-19 (just speculating) . Eng U-19, on the other hand, are hopeful too. This is what they have to say,

Pick confident of improvement

England Under19 coach Andy Pick is confident his side will hit form when they take on Bangladesh in the first match of the Tri Series, starting on Wednesday.

England will compete in a triangular tournament involving Bangladesh and Sri Lankan after a run of five consecutive defeats in their first five tour matches in Bangladesh.

Pick’s side collected their fifth defeat on Friday against a Board XI but there were plus points that bode well for future matches.

“We completed our 100% record of losses - but there were good points to take from the match with Rory Hamilton-Brown making a half-century and we produced two or three significant stands in our innings," Pick told ecb.co.uk.

“Our boys are learning how to adapt to the conditions and are gradually playing the spinners better which is important because each team we have played against has had good spinners.”

Both Dhiman and Nadif are surely too old - did not they play in last Youth World Cup?? not sure why cricinfo is showing that- but anyway - the team is very good balanced - why would you say that there are too many SLA bowlers - especially as they can all bat well enough??
Also, how come nobodu has mentioned how good the teams management is going on - NAtional Selectors are getting things RIGHT and everyone involved with both HP and U/19 teams are moving forwards in right direction - give credit where credit is due please!! There are smart people doing smart things and this should be recognised by everyone instead of being critical when opportunity presents!
BD are in better shape at juniors level then ever before!! Game development in BD is very good area
:great:

I thought Nabil Samad was a leggie as he has played for Sylhet before in the domestic league.

I watched Ishraq Sonnet in England and his bowling is just military medium!! don't know why Nazmul Hossain Milon has been left out as he was doing OK.

They should win the first match to set the tone.

A point to ponder would be to test the spinners as they are expected to do good against teams who are outside of sub continent. We might go for 3 spinners in 2/3 matches to see if we can have edge over Eng U-19 (obviously, Mehrab is an opener cum spipnner) . However, we should play all 3 quickies against SL U-19s.

By the way, does any1 know who became the champ on Afro Asian U-19 in India?

Well Sakib and mehrab Jr are batsmen who can also bowl. So I don't see any need for more SLA in the main eleven. We should include more pacers and allrounders and see how they do against England and Srilanka.

Match by match plan should be focused on developing a proper game plan. I think spinners are vital against countries outside sub continent and for them we need batsmen who can bat well against pacers.

On the other hand we need pacers and batsmen good against quality spin for the matches against sub continent teams.

However, at the end of the day it is a good balanced team that can win the match. So we don't need any match winner, if everyone can put forward their 100%, a win is not impossible in any game we play.

Cricinfo doesnt recognise anything BD does in success wise. IF they loose a game then they are ready to fire away. You cant find anything about BD -19 beating SA on that site. And no news about this triangular series let alone commentary.

if someone says about taking away the test status of BD, i bet they are gonna make it headline there. All Crap!

Does anyone know how many people attended the England-SL game at Fatullah Cricket Stadium, Dhaka? It was a good game. At one stage SL were 156/8 whereas Eng were 180/8. The English tail could not hold on. One got stumped and the other runout with 10 balls remaining. SL just won by 13 runs. BD should be able to put up a good show against SL.

SL had to struggle to win against England. We might have a good chance to beat them tom.

I have noticed that bro. But it was there after like 2 days of the game. There is no link of the U-19 Triangular series in cricinfo. Noone even knows its going on. Granted its nothing comapre to the Eng-pak or other big match ups. But at the same time, they are showing league match infos of india, england. But wouldnt care to show anything happening in BD. BBC even did the live score update on the game.

Cricinfo probably doesn't have enough manpower in BD.

And local first-class leagues in India and England (county) have a much older heritage than our nascent first-class competitions.

Let's hope CI will improve its coverage in BD.
