The BCB is planning on changing it's name to what it used to be pre-Saber era - BCCB. They are claiming that the name has to be changed back to BCCB in order to comply with the National Sports Council Act.

Why can't they just focus on trying to improve cricket in the country instead of trying to undo everything that's been by the previous board and start from skratch? Will Bangladesh ever see the day when sports federations will have boards that are free of political affiliations?

I am not really convinced that this is a political move. If you read the entire article, you will find that the BCB wants to keep the BCB name, or so Nuruk Kabir Shaheen MP claims, but might have to change it unless the NSC amends the act. I don't really know why this has come up now all of a sudden, maybe it is political, but whether it is political or not, its downright silly!

My point exactly. Shouldn't the current administration looked into whether the name complied with the NSC act when it took office? And why didn't anyone say anything when the name was changed in the first place. Sometimes I feel the country is run on politician's every whim.

actually the country has ALWAYS been run on politician's every whim. the quality of available politicians have declined over time, so now the whims seem even more nonsensical than before.

There are some legislative connections to sports bodies that are used to avoid doing any real work. eg "we can't do this enless such and such Act is amended by Parliament". Say what?? The more backwards a nation, the more convoluted these laws.... making it that much tougher to break free from them.
