Federer just won his seventh Grand Slam title. 7 of 7 finals. Great accomplishment. He is at pace with Pete Samprass. At age of 24 (Pete - four days younger) also had 7 titles. ATP tounaments Pete had 36 Federer has 35. 3 titles in a row! Last man to do it was non other Pete Samprass(Wimbledon and the U.S. Open in 1993, and the Australian Open in '94).
Federer in an interview said, ""It's quite scary if I compare it," Federer said. "I'm on the same road, but I've got to maintain it. It would be great to challenge it, but it's not my first priority.
"Obviously, I know the importance of winning the French, what it would do to my career. But Wimbledon is the one for me. And if I keep on winning Wimbledon and not the French, I'm very happy about that, too."
All Federer has to do is stay healthy. He is half way through. His competition is also falling behind. At Grand slams he puts up another notch.
After beating Baghdatis, Federer broke down in tears in the prize ceremony. Emotions were high just by the presence of Aussie great Tennis Icon Rod Laver, the last man to sweep all four Grand Slam events in the same year, in 1969.
