What is the official age-limit for players in U-19 World Cup? Isn't it less than 19?

I was looking at scorecard of today's Zimbabwe vs. Uganda practice match and the name "AG Cremer" in Zimbabwe squad caught my attention. AG Cremer (Graeme Cremer) played 6 tests and 21 ODI including the 2005 test series against Bangladesh.

His official age is 19 years 135 days!!

TheWatcher

I believe the official restriction is that a player has to be born on or after September, 1986, to be eligible to play in this tourny. I am not sure why ICC is allowing 19+ years olds, my guess is since the tournament was supposed to take place in some other country (England?) earlier, but got shifted to Lanka this February, ICC did not change the restriction to let teams continue with players they initially selected.

#14 must be the official - may be the computer analyst. The squad consists of 14 players - not 15.

#3 = Kamrul Islam

By the way, there was a picture of the U-19 team that toured Australia last year in a certain thread. Almost all the name-matchings were done for that photo. We could probably get a few more names if anyone takes the trouble of digging that thread out. My search parameters didnt have any luck.

I am pretty sure #10 is also a staff member. He has a different dress too, well... not wearing the team tie.

Might be Mehedi Hasan, because I remember someone asking McInnes why Mehedi looks so emaciated in some other picture.

Oracle can say better, but #9 looks like Shirajullah.

it is the natural new technique of taking a team picture these days... not your usual standing/sitting side by side looking like puppets of the cameramen.

Unfortunately, the ICC owns the rights to this and will not allow us to do ball-by-ball coverage even though we were in place to do so. We will have hourly updates during the initial rounds and live BBB for the semi-finals and final.

The ICC will have live scoring for selected matches, two featuring Bangladesh - v Pakistan and Uganda.

Martin, perhaps my understanding of sports coverage rights is off, but in America, statisticians ran into the same deal with major league baseball when sabermatics first came to fore in the 90s. And the law came out in favor of the sabermatic guys.

How is it that ICC owns the right to ball-by-ball commentary?
As long as one is not doing it via audio or video you aren't stealing anything are you? And why oh why would they NOT want cricinfo to provide it even if they do have the rights to it? CI provides it for everything else - and it actually helps globalise the game, which is a stated ICC objective.

Nice to see ya back. Tell Andy he needs to stop by more often too.

It's actually the opposite of that. Any matches on TV can be scored as they are public domain - despite attempts by various bodies at various times, notably during the last World Cup, to claim that this was breaking the law. Other matches where we have to be on the ground depend on the local boards. In South Africa, for example, we do score live, but in Australia and England they are very protective.

For ICC events, the "rights" to BBB scoring are controlled by the ICC or its business partners. So they can refuse to allow us to score live and throw us out of the venue, or even banish us from all grounds and remove media accreditation, if we break that rule. That is why we can score the semi-finals and final as we are able to do so off TV.

Frustratingly for anyone following the tournament, the ICC will not be scoring every game live - only two of the four each day - so it is inevitable that some Bangladesh games will slip under the radar. I am sorry about this but there is nothing we can do, although I would point out that our early planning included BBB from every match.

Well no one's gonna blame CI - we can see which august body is pulling this gem off. Could the ICC act any more stupid? Don't answer that - it might frighen us masses :)

Practice match'a India England'er kasey harlo. Regular match'a Uff!!! Under pant'o khuley mathey rekhey ashchey. lost by 234 runs!! So much so for practice matches. If there was a way to convert the score to a soccer score it would be more like 12-0 with 6 in each half.

hats of to Prasad for taking the revenge. (he told his players to be ruthless, lol)
