I really smell that Tamim is going to kick off the proceedings for Bangladesh. NewZealand must have to endure a tough day at the office. We just need to win the toss. Toss will be vital in this match. From there on the rest will follow.

These U19 boys will make it my day for sure. From the word go, they will have to jump on the opposition. Have to be ruthless with a killer's instinct. No letdown. No catch dropping. No complacency. No mercy. There is no option but win.

right. i agree. i'll be happy as long as we put up a decent show on this tournament - i don't expect our boys to win the cup or go to the semis or anything of that sort. keeping my expectations under check here - we're not facing easy opponents here.

My predicsion:

If batting first: BD will win by 5 wickets

If batting second: BD will win by more than 60 runs

NZ will not post a score of more than 200

ICC will NOT provide live coverage for the Bangladesh vs. New Zealand match. For preliminary stage, we will get ICC live coverage for Bangladesh vs. Pakistan and Bangladesh vs. Uganda matches.

Information source: MartinW of Cricinfo.

if win this match, it should set us up for a semi appearance or even the cup itself.

if we lose, it may very well result in yet another plate championship (or worse).

if u-19 wins big (gets to the semis at least) think of how much time it will buy for the national team.

this is one thing which i realized not too long ago.

if u-19 does well, no matter how poor national team plays, we won't be demoted or anything.

True.

A lot of you seem to be scared to fall from too high. How often have you ever seen a BD team to shoot for world championship? If this doesn't get you up nothing will. If we fall, we fall. So what. Lets feel this now. Lets take some risks. Life is short. :fire::fire::fire::fire:

pagol bhai,

i am fully with you...i am in the upper quarter of the members here in terms of u-19 hype.

i firmly expect a semi final appearance, and failure to do so would be a dissappointment.

in terms of overall strength, i think we have a top 3 squad, and therefore winning the whole damn thing is not at all out of the equation.

but all teams can have a mental block, and i know our boys will have one. even if they beat NZ by 100 or 10 wickets, they cannot claim that pressure wasn't there.

its just how they handle it.

and i think they will do just fine.

my predictions:

55 run win or 5 wicket win for our boys.

ICC has capability to provide live coverage for only 2 matches per day. So everyday there will be no coverage for the other 2 matches. There is no other radio or TV coverage for the preliminary round. ICC themselves can not cover the remaining 2 matches of the day and still they are not allowing Cricinfo to cover those matches.

I hope it doesn't rain but, I need to know the numbers. One of these days I'll read DW.

For a team chasing a target, D/L will set adjusted score based on the runs scored, number of overs used and number of wicket fall before the rain.

Suppose rain stopped the game after 25 overs and BD scored 75 chasing 176, then BD will be in winning position if their score is more than:

With 1 Wicket Fall: 60 run
With 2 Wicket Fall: 67 run
With 3 Wicket Fall: 75 run
With 4 Wicket Fall: 85 run
With 5 Wicket Fall: 99 run
With 6 Wicket Fall: 114 run
With 7 Wicket Fall: 130 run
With 8 Wicket Fall: 147 run
With 9 Wicket Fall: 162 run

So, if BD score just 75/1 in 25 overs, 61 runs will be the winning target. So if play does not start at all, BD will be the winner.

So
Bangladesh wins even if at 10 overs we have

With 1 Wicket Fall: 60 run
With 2 Wicket Fall: 67 run
With 3 Wicket Fall: 75 run
With 4 Wicket Fall: 85 run
With 5 Wicket Fall: 99 run
With 6 Wicket Fall: 114 run
With 7 Wicket Fall: 130 run
With 8 Wicket Fall: 147 run
With 9 Wicket Fall: 162 run.

Correct? Its logical. Its like we forfeit the next 15 overs and still win by DW.

If there is a chance of rain we can let loose for sure and get this out of the way. Thanks for the relief BabuBangla.

According to the U-19 WC Playing condition, at least 20 over has to be bowled for match to be considered as a valid match. So if play stops after 10 overs and no more play is possible, then it will be "No Result" and both with will share the match point.

Group A: New Zealand 175 all out (45 overs) v Bangladesh (t)

Having lost warm-up matches to South Africa and the West Indies, the New Zealanders failed to impress as they surrendered for 175 to the promising Bangladesh under-19s.

Bangladesh vice-captain Mehrab Hossain picked up four wickets, with Sohrawardi Shuvo taking three and Nabil Samad Chowdury two. Captain Mushfiqur Rahim was effective behind the stumps, effecting five dismissals.

With the likes of the exciting Tamim Iqbal in the Bangladesh line-up, the target of 175 shouldn't be too difficult for the tournament fancies to chase down.

New Zealand: M.Ellison (c), M.Guptill, T.Astle, K.Noema-Barnett, A.De Boorder, S.Fitzgibbon, C.Munro, R.Hira, T.Southee, J.Donnelly, H.Bennett. Super sub: R.Karaitiana.

Bangladesh: Mushfiqur Rahim (c), Tamim Iqbal, Roqibul Hassan, Sakib Al Hasan, Md Shamsur Rahman, Mehrab Hossain, Md Sohrawardi, Sirajullah Khadem, Dollar Mahmud, Nabil Samad Chowdhury, Kamrul Islam. Super sub: Mehedi Hasan Siddiqui.

Can't see much of difference from the senior version! Same old early wickets.

we need just over 3.5 per over....time to put our heads down and consolidate...whats the rush...take singles...conserve wickets...no need for unnecessary bravado.
