View Full Version : BD playing Canada and Bermuda in prep matches for WC!!!
February 25, 2006, 09:40 PM
On the last week of February 2007, prior to regular practice matches for WC, ICC wants to arrange a triangular series involving Canada, Bermuda, and us (venues will be somewhere in West Indies).
I guess we are finally getting our revenge match with Canada and are getting to know the Bermuda team before we meet them in the grand event. But, hopefully, BD will get to play some stronger teams in practice matches in their run up to the main event (we all remember how much an ODI series against Namibia helped us last time  ).

ICC giving us way too many matches to play against associate members, and I dunno how healthy it is for us to be playing so many. So nice, India and a many other test nations avoid playing associate members.

Don't think ICC forced anything on us, it is BCCB who can't find a Test playing country to play us outside FTP (even within FTP incase of India and England) and filling up long gaps of time with matches involving associates. Don't worry, Janakantha rumor is that BD team will get to visit Zimbabwe in next July.

Plyaing with the associates is our only way to win a series.

It si not that bad, we should just try to thrash them hopefully. Winning is a habit and we will insallah continue it in the world cup. :P

We should not play Bermuda. We have a history of losing to teams in the big occasion after beating them in friendlies/unimportant matches. Take the under 19 team for example, we lost to the very team we shut out at home. The chance of us repeating that kind of result against Bermuda is very high.

If we expect big teams to play with us on a regular basis, then we should try to play with smaller teams on a regular basis too. Only then, it is fair game for everybody!
Let's not act like over zealous Indian fans who thinks playing with BD is a waste of their time.

They can't still forget the sting of the ODI defeat in Dhaka.

usually the Bangladesh plays 15 to 18 ODI a year against the bigger opposition. I really believe Bangldesh should play 25 to 20 ODIs a year. This will increase the records of the players and will give additional experiences.
Bangladesh should really support the associate countries like we need stronger countries to play against us.
I really believe Bangladesh should play a tri series regullary every year against two assiciate countries.
Also, Bangladesh should play 2 to 3 ODI matches against one associate country before every major series like with Australia, England, Southafrica, etc to keep in form and to improve confidence and to get enough match practise before the series

That choto bhai-boro bhai thing does not work in international cricket, BD team needs to be professional and at the same time ruthless toward every opponent they face. They specially need to remember that particular match against Canada every time they face so called choto bhais of cricket so that they won't be slacking and repeat the mistakes done by Pilot & Co.
