This comments are for Mr Faruk ( our selector) and habibul Bashar:

1. Why did u choose alok Kapali ?
{ answear...his main job is bowling..he came into the team as a bowler and now he is a Specialist bats man}

- Then Why bashar didnt let him bowl??

2. What was wrong with Aftab ?
{answear: he is an Oneday Specialist}

- Then why do u seek for an alrounder who can ball and bat??

N.B:....Ashraful can Legspine as well...why didnt u let him bowl...to make a variety of mixing in bowiling?

Lastly...After Seeing a performance from Alok Kapali...In 2nd Innings....please Do not say...u are going to stick with the same team ! even BD wins the Test match..do not stick with the same team.

because...There are Players Who deserve to play..and make sure u prepare mashrafee for the second test. Well we all hope...

Today we clearly saw how the team was missing mashrafee's Bowling !

also...Give a chance to Mushfiq...he will play Much better then some players...and think about Replacing Aftab....instead of playing a Specialist batsman (kapali) and never gets a chance to bowl !!!

Disgusting !!

Be ready for the following explanation:

"None of us have any sort of experience in selecting team for test or ODI. So why dont we let Faruk do his business"

It is indeed surprising.

When Maharoof seemed like irritiating the ehll out of BD fans, why wasn't Alok allowed to bowl for a longer duration. The regular bowlers weren't making any impression anyways.

If Alok was picked for batting, then that is another selectorial blunder. He is a bowling all-rounder and not a specialist batsman. I wonder what will it take for BD selectors to understand this.

"The bowlers looked tired in the final session. I think they desperately felt the absence of a genuine bowling all-rounder in the team. If there was a genuine bowling all-rounder -- be it a spinner or a paceman -- it would have lessened the workload on the main bowlers.

Alok Kapali bowled only one over while Mohammad Ashraful got three. So, you can't brand them as bowling all-rounders in the team."

If they continue to use 4 bowlers all day, soon Russell and Shahadat will be injured, like Masri and Sharif.

Why did Bashar make Ash bowl 3...he aint a great bowler...alok shld've bowled coz the selectors put him in the team due to his leg spin bowling also...

Ash doesnt much bowl, so why make him bowl then. He wont ofcourse do any gud in bowling coz he hardly bowls....

I think you guys are over delighted with mushfiq issue. Yes he played well in the u-19 WC and played a test match but still he needs time to feel the pressure of top level cricket. If he comes to the team as wicketkeeper then Mashud should go away but he isn't perfoming so badly and again if Mushfiq comes as a batsman then I think he hasn't done anything special recently .Considering his age I wana say in past we gave lots of
youngster chance in the national side and we spoilt a lot of them as well.So we need think second time whether the younsters are ready to play in the top level.

Sorry

I think shuffling the team will be good for the future and certainly will not alter the outcome of the game. Let the guys play a bit and be matured.

Exactly....Right u are....but one thing is,....Why Sharif? Why not Taposh...he is a Good bowler too.....even though he is injured we should be considerable with him......he's done lots of Hard workfor BD...and he will be back soon.....:-/

To me Sharif is a better bowler than Taposh in all sense.

Now to be fair with Bashar... would you use your bowler more if he has a past record in TEST as follows?

Test: 16
Balls: 1085
Run: 697
Wicket: 6
Average: 116.16 (for each wicket).

So to get 2 wicket out of this bowler team have to give up 232 runs....

Ok may be still you would.... but atleast that may explain why Bashar couldn't trust with his 4th Spinner (and 6th Bowler in the team) with the ball.

Good questions. I have all the answers:

1. Why did u choose alok Kapali ?
{ answear...his main job is bowling..he came into the team as a bowler and now he is a Specialist bats man}
Wrong! The right answer is: Because I like him, and I have the power to do so. Just the way Mahinder used to like me as a captain ahead of Akram, Nannu or Aminul

- Then Why bashar didnt let him bowl??
Because, Bashar is too shaky a captain to go out of track to do something else. (But I wished Bashar dis that because he did not like Kapali)

2. What was wrong with Aftab ?
{answear: he is an Oneday Specialist}
Aftab needs to be out of the team. He has to make way for my son - Kapali

- Then why do u seek for an alrounder who can ball and bat??
Well we seek a alrounder because there is something called alrounder in each cricket team.

Yep. Looks like Bashar got some spanking last night from Faruooq.

May be, during team selection, Basher wanted the one day specialist?

The worst thing about the selectors is that they are creating a bad, bad example. the expression they are giving to the young generation and upcoming players is that all you need to cement your place in the 11 is to gain a name as talented. no need to perform or anything else what so ever, as long as you can create a notion that you are talented you will not be dropped.

how does that effect the game? everyone will try to play the fency shots and only thing will be in their mind is display. even if you get out after playing two three nice looking shot, that is enough. that already proves, you can play good shots, and thats enough. what happened to the team, who cares.

I think that is the main reason most of our players are not responsible and determined. because these qualities has never been rewarded by the selectors. every time a player goes out playing irresposible shot, the selectors has to take some responsibilty of it.

personally, i'm not very bothered with the selection for the first test. the exclusion of aftab was wrong (well at least the reason for it was), imo, but i don't think it's worth talking about it now. kapali has another inning to display his karishma (if he has any left), and i say we wait and see what he does.

besides, it's not like the selectors are totally writing aftab off either. i'm sure the door to the test team is still open for him - this is just one match, and it's not the end of the world; he's still pretty young.

i think the selectors actually did a good job in putting together this team. i would've never selected nafis iqbal based on his current form but he looked really good before he got out to a ridiculous shot. kapali made sense in terms of a 5th bowler when the main bowlers got tired. i dont understand why bashar didnt give him more than 1 over specially towards the end of the day when he was making ashraful bowl instead.

there is no need for rahim. our batting didnt collapse. if we get a similar second innings score i dont see any reason to change this team. except maybe bringing in aftab for kapali if he is fit.

My first question are selectors and captain talking in two different channel? Selectors claim Kap is bowling all rounder while Captain thinks he is a batsman whose bowling is worse than Ash.
My second question but most impotantly was there any plan B? The way Basher handled the things made me think that nither he nor the management expect that we could get SL top order crumbled below 200. Evn they got the opportunity during tea break and drinks break it feels that Basher was still thinking Sl is crusing.
My third question from today's prothom alo I learned that Rajib just returned from injury. His bowling shows that as he was spraying all over the place. So why he was selected as it was obvious he lack match practice? With Shanto's current form was not he a better choice? Ok Shanto has a crap of game againest India. But he is now better form now than dec 2004.
My fourth question if Aftab is one day specialist pls let us know abt Rana's status. I think he could have tied down one side in bowling and in batting also. I do not want to mention any name but I think captain has more faith on Rana then the other selectors fav guy. Also he would have been a great asset in looming disaster.

Why Bashar is not using Alok is a million dollar question indeed. Is it possible that Bashar has joined the Rana Fan Club?

Welcome Home Bashar!!!! someone needs to protest Alok's inclusion in the team within the team :bravo:

Too bad Alok lovers cant say much to justify his inclusion. I say bring Rana in, in place of Alok and see the difference.

March 2, 2006, 03:46 AM
Guys, have you ever considered Alok's inclusion in test because of Aftab's "zondice" problem as a possibility? As I heard Aftab was not present at presentation ceremony of 2nd ODI, because he was laying on a bench in dressing room at that time. May be selectors took the decision to rest him like Mashree.

But the ODI specialist logic for Aftab is beyond me, perhaps hiding information from Sri Lanka?;)

alok is no 5th bowler. rana is too incomplete as an allrounder. we need a genuine allrounder. does the U-19 have any? the batting line up has too many rash stroke players. any player with a solid defense and calming influence?
