Shark_fin, this looks odd. Those buttons should be clear. I think previous one was much better. No need to change our format every now and then.

Some words from Mahela in reply to Cricinfo's interview:

Cricinfo: How do you rate the Bangladesh team now - they seem to be a fast-improving outfit and no longer the minnows they were?

MJ: They have some young guys with bags of talent. They also have some spirit. Ashraful is especially talented and he really took the game to us. They have lots of youngsters now coming up and they are improving all the time. They also have some decent structures for junior cricket. They just need to focus on the mental side and their attitude and they can become a competitive international team.

Cricinfo: How are you approaching the second Test?

MJ: We know that Bangladesh will come at us hard again and we must focus completely on our gameplan. We all know what we have to do and we know that we can't take Bangladesh lightly. There are plenty of areas where we can improve and it is essential that we do so. We must make sure we put them under a lot of pressure in the first two days. We are looking to put together a very good performance.

.............Encouraging!! Isn't it??

SS
March 7, 2006, 07:35 AM
all of them say the same thing...BD is improving and they are taking it seriously...but BD itself is its enemy as they know
so they end up playing like school cricket...and We end up giving them that opportunity.

I only know one MJ who has hanged up his sneakers. :) The rest of the MJ's and their comments have no value to me.

Good luck to BD. I like the fact we have rain in the forecast. If the SL wants to force a result before that they have to take some risk. Few mistakes here and there would help us.

Mushfiq is included in the final 12 man cut. Alok, Faruk's poster boy is out. We have to wait and see if Rajin or Mushfiq plays.

March 7, 2006, 09:43 AM
We need a draw here...no way we wana loose...our max ability is to draw...and Inshallah we will draw this test match....

Cnt see drop catches and Batmans need to score big...

Project overview:
Mission: Win the match.
Having a plan when we are batting.
Devising a plan for each SL batsmen, especially Mahroof (after watching video footage).
Having a plan for the umpires.
Implementing the plan.
Eliminating mistakes (quality control).
Tweak the plan (with feedback from the 1st innings)
End result: Winning the match. (Project completion in time).

Cricket is not just a game any more. It is a project.

Guys, RUN ARE GOOD. As long as they are playing the bad balls, runs ill come. Just cause it's a TEST/5 day match, doesn't mean we'll have to block every single ball. SL bowlers trying to get their groove, good time for us to get some runs. If they start bowling well, we'll slow down. There's no rule against scoring run a ball in small burst in Test matches, just like there's no rule that you have to hit every single ball in ODIs. That would just be poor cricket.

Then it would be 12/0 or 16/0

There would be deep third man, and finer deep fine leg in the ODI game. So most of the boundaries would be single.

AGAIN - there's a difference between slogging and fishing for fours (which we usually do) and punishing the bad balls and controlled shots. As long as the runs are coming from controlled shots, doesn't matter how fast we are getting those runs.

They don't want Ashraful to be in for 3 overs, get set and come out to lunch and get set again.

never send him in with a few overs left. That doubles his chance of quick out.

Once he is set he goes on for good innings. Early balls are his #1 problem

He is a wk. But good enough to play as a specialist batsman in England.

Javed Omar looked very solid again, until he got out. A good start by Bangladesh. If Bashar and Ashraful could get good runs, Bangladesh could end up with a total well past 300 andl put pressure on Sri Lanka. It is important to occupy the crease too. Bangladesh should look to bat at least until lunch tomorrow.

Murali seems to be getting good turn from the ground. I hope Murali and Badara could get wickets for Sri Lanka.

He is a wicket Keeper cum batsman....middle order. He was the captain in u19 world cup for bd. Probably one of the best good tempered batsman bd has ever produced........let's see and hope all the best to him.

To support one of our stretegy, we brought a left hander against murali as early as possible. Murali already got 2. Also don't want to loose ash just before lunch.

thought it was a good move!

Why he would talk abt Musfiqur Rahaman. He was talking about Musfiq Rahim who is playing in this game. I am sorry if I offended you.

Yes, that's what I thought. But Cricinfo says:

Full name Mushfiqur Rahman
Born January 1, 1980, Rajshahi
Current age 26 years 66 days
Major teams Bangladesh, Rajshahi Division
Also known as Babu
Batting style Right-hand bat
Bowling style Right-arm fast-medium

Probably they are talking of some other Mushfiqur Rahman. :)

It is good to see the Under 19 team captain playing. That team has been playing so well that one of them had to play for the senior side. Good to see what he would do.
