View Full Version : Someone will score a century in T2. Who?

Its easy to pick Ashraful; but he has already filled his quota for the next few games.

I'll go out on a limb and predict its one of the openners.

Dark horse: Rahim.

No way: Bashar.

Not javed omar for sure..... how about shahriar nafees

Mahmood
March 7, 2006, 04:02 PM
It will be Bashar, he is due for a century innings by the law of average.

sadi
March 7, 2006, 04:05 PM
kapali could have used this law of average.... didnt happen with him and I doubt it will happen with bashar

K Masud is due. if not a half century at least.

Nafis Iqbal is the dark horse.

Fazal
March 7, 2006, 04:08 PM
I hope its Rahim. But its unlikely.

Most likely Ash.

One of those Nafis is a possibilty. The probabilty is much higher than bashar (in my book). I am not sure Bashar is in his top form, enough to score a 50+ but not good enough to score a 100.

I really doubt anyone will score a hundred. The least we can expect is moderate contributions from our "batsman' so that we can atleast score 280+

I have my doubts about this test match.

The problem is consitancy and we just don't have it yet.

I'm afraid we've played our best game in the first match so this one may be a disappointment.

I have a feeling we will see a batting collapse.

Bashar could do his century if the ball comes to his bat easily but no late ! My second and third choich are Ash or Nafis Iqbal (if he really learned something from his previous mistakes).

The wicket is too good for collapse without Vaas bowling.

Someone is gonna ace.

Nafis Iqbal will be playing for his life. Will get branded with Rokon and Ehsanul if he doesn't pull through in this game.

I am sure Akram Khan will make sure he understands this.

Based on the First test, I see 2 centuries are there for the taking!

1)Ash
2)Nafis Iqbal

But, Will they take it?

Other possibilities:

3) H. Bashar (looked good in ODI, and composed in the 1st innings of 1st test)
4) M. Rahim (This may be the one where he tells the world of his arrival in front of his home crowd)

Oh ... I forget to add another candidate.

Rafiq

If Rahim scores a century in this game it'll be better than a win for us because we'll know for sure that we have a REAL PLAYER for the next 15 years.

Lets hope that more than anything else.

I will never show up in BC forum if Nafees Iqbal hits a ton.

Bashar and Ashraful are the only reasonable batters who will score a century in second Test.

Sorry to say guys but that Javed Omar seems a useless fellow, time your selectors invested in a young opening batsman.

true.....

Javed always comes through when his back is against the wall, but when Bangladesh will be ready to compete against better teams Golla will be retired.

Should we invest any more on him? Its definitely cutting down the experiece opportunities for some young guns.

My candidates are:

Bashar and Mushfiq

Ash can do it, but won't. When is the last time he got back to good scores in tests?

Probability that SN will do it is slim. NI, as he is fighting for life, have a good chance. Khaled Mashud is due for a 50. Rafique - no I don't expect him doing it again as he did in WI.

shamster
March 7, 2006, 05:01 PM
Inshallah Mashud will stay with Rahim at the crease and he (Rahim) will score the century... Iqbal is a dark horse true say he was doing so well but he threw his wicket away both times.

Omar flaws of shuffling across has been spotted by the Lankans.
Bashar is due a century isnt he hmmm ?
Ashraful has scored a century can he get another ? Dont think so hoep he proves me wrong.

Shahriar is another candidate but Malinga will trouble him.
So that leaves Rahim. The rest are too low down order to score century (yes I know west indies mashud/rafique)

What About Omars stunning catch, I respect Omar man. Until we have suitable replacement his best we have !!

al Furqaan
March 7, 2006, 05:43 PM
omar is a decent fielder who holds on to tough but takeable catches unlike more talented batsman (cough, cough* ashraful, shahriar nafees, cough*)

but as a batsman in either form of the game, JO is really nothing as spitfire bhai's stats showed a few weeks ago. i thought he was the fibrinogen that would stop the flow, but actually he is not.

btw, sangakkara and jayawardene will score hundreds.

and ash just might drop another gem on them.

Sauron
March 7, 2006, 05:57 PM
As for full 100% centuries, Mushfique and Ash are plausible. I don't think anyone else has the temperament to hang in there for a century.

Shariar Nafees, Bashar, Rafique might be good candidates for half centuries.

On SL team, anyone and everyone is a candidate for half century. And half of the team can score centuries.

Three centuries are coming from Bangladesh sites guys........1 guy is doing it in both innings...........When u guys see these 3 centuries then ask me how do i knew this????

SS
March 7, 2006, 07:12 PM
three batsmen from lanka might score centuries
on the other hand,
one of Bd batsman might score.
Prediction wise,

if lanka wins and bats first they will score 500+. BD will score 260 in first innings and 220 in seconds innings.

if Bd bats first they will score 260 runs . lanka will score 560 and then BD will score 220.

So atleast two batsmen from lanka are probable of scoring centuries on the other hand only one of bd might score.

We might not see any centuries but if we do it will be Bashar.

I will be happy enough to see a half centruy from Bashar. Cause all I have seen is 30's so far. The ideal candidate for the only century is Ashraful.

i think ash might score some runs, may be not a ton but he looks in good touch. Bashar also can score some runs if he puts his head down and bat through the first couple of over when he is new in the middle.

Nafis.I or S.Nafis

Umar
March 7, 2006, 09:30 PM
Nah...I think Mushfiq will score 50+ (probably in both)

100+ Ashraful

Shahreer nafis 38+
Bashar 44+
JO 29+
Rafiq (no Idea)
Pilot will try his best..Because of Mushfiqur Rahim. He obviously doesnt want to lose his position..:P

lol i am going to be realistic. i say none of em. :karate: however i hope even thuogh none of em make a century but some how manages to go close to it u know wht i mean eh.. like 50+ is enough for us if tht is done by 4 of our top order batmans.. n then lets leave the rest up to the tail enders and musfiq. hope we make a 350+ score on the 1st innings .. thts all we need

I am really surprised to see how some of you blindly supporting Mushfiq......guyz....U-19 and test cricekt is not the same.....Nafis Iqbal scored ten times as many runs in U-19 level than Mushfiq.....what he is doing in tests??

Some are even saying about the Temperment (!) of Mushfiqur Rahim......How can you know this?? he has only played 1 test and failed.

Come to the reality guyz......I am not against Mushfiqur Rahim.....i know he has a cool head and will play for Bangladesh for quite a long time.....but the time has not come yet to play him in the test cricekt.......he should have spent at least a successful NCL season and "A" team tour before being considered.

I think -

Bashar will scroe 60+
Omar and Rafiq will scroe 30+ and
NI and Ash will score 20+

But noboday will score a century.
Please don't ask me how do I knew that
