How about changing cricket rules more like american football?
Let's have an offensive/attacking batting team (11 specialistsd players) and a defensive (bowling/fielding - 11 players) team. This way we can see more of 400 runs ODI or 10 wickets in 10 overs. And probably the best of attacking cricket. Howz'dat!

Anyway, we need to create separate Academies of Batting, fielding and bowling; for an overall residency period of at least two years each (starting from U-13 team); before they are allowed to play test cricket.

Apply to ICC cricket committee. They would love your idea. Like supersub, powerplay, bouncer rule they would take it. so much entertainment.

Won't work ... cos in cricket Batting Can be Defense (Espacially in test matches) and bowling/fielding can be offense (happens all the time ... wake up!!).

I know nothing about American Football so forgive me if I failed to get the picture you tried to show ...

would destroy the beauty of the game.....the trouble of having to balance a side......the value of a position in the national team.

Just like the super sub and power play rules are ridiculous innovations.
