What ever happens in the remaining part of the day. I am proud of our boys.

They have done us proud. 350 plus runs and wickets in hand who would have thought that.

Juts hope Dav talks the game plan with the boys.

We are firmly in the driving seat, a plan can now be under way with backing of close to 400 runs.

Great job from BD boys, no wicket for Warne and Lee in 1st day, That's something they should be proud of. And 355 for 1st day also the highest score BD made against any test nations, also a new record for BD.

I missed the session uptil lunch, and was treated to something fine afterwards. But since Bashar left the crease I was a bit apprehensive. Good to have seen Rajin and Aftab stick it out in there till the very end. Except that Aftab's shot was perhaps a bit unnecessary. Nonetheless I am AMAZED, AWED AND OVERJOYED at what our team has pulled off. Win or not, we'll get RESPECT! Especially from Warne if he has that word in his vocabulary!

Bd lost one extra wicket today.. I was dreaming of 500 for first time.. but.. now.. 450 will be my best choice................

this is the last batting pair and tomorrow will be interesting. Rajin is always susceptable againt the new shiny red ball. So.. i wonder how much will he survive tomorrow morning.

i am bit disappointed at the end. Loss of aftab and Ash........... really broke my heart... when Ash wll ever learn to stick to wicket!!!:E

Don't be angry about Aftab and Ash going to bad shots, It just shows that though we scored 355, we can get even more if those two fire.

Great Century, Great captains knock, Great play of leg-spin (The Tigers did it better than the South Africans, believe me) and lets not forget Saleh's gutsy knock at the end....

355/5.........
Rafique n Mashrafee still to come........want same kind of resistance tomorrow as well........just bat as long as you can.......we are with you boyz......:fanflag::fanflag:

Rajin and Aftab's partnership was crucial as well......so many times in the past we lost the platform by loosing 2/3 wickets in short time....those two with 50+ run stand did not alloe it to happen this time. Aftab being there at the end would have been nicer....anyway.....claps to them also.

It would have been best if Aftab had stuck around and stayed the 2 overs to finish the day off. Tomorrow will be a new day, and I hope Rajin and Pilot can get a partnership going. nothing fancy necessary, but one that exudes confidence and determination... like the dogged one between Aftab and Rajin. ...and I'll be more than happy. "Don't be angry about Aftab and Ash going to bad shots, It just shows that though we scored 355, we can get even more if those two fire."

Its a test match, so I'll be expecting more from Ashraful and Aftab in the 2nd innings, and right now it seems that our batsman are putting all of their efforts in the first innings, making me fear of what might happen in the 2nd innings. Usually, the trend is that our batsman use all their energy to score over 400 runs in one innings, and then go all out very very cheap in the 2nd innings.

I don't want that to happen. I also want to bowl out Australia once in this test match. And provided that we have some runs in our hand to defend (upto now - even 355 is a large enough total to defend for a while and to get a test side to be all out), we SHOULD bowl them out at least once.

Rafique has been scoring runs in tests regularly.....against Srilanka we saw this.......we also have Mashrafee....so...450 is still the possibility if Pailot n Rajin starts well n build up partnership tomorrow....

If Rajin is given the time and support for a century in this innings, it will be AWESOME!!! He looks very composed now, after his initial wobble with Warne and MacGill.... just like he was against Kenya. Here's wishing him a century

[I wished Rajib a 5 wicket haul the night before, and it came true. While I deny having psychic and supernatural powers, I hope Rajin does accomplish a great batting innings] :flag:

Now Bangladesh has given them a great shock. They have to come out of this and then plan again..

This time we are dominating the test. We have done it before but not in this style.

We have to keep our composure and bat till tea tomorrow. Then aussies will be under tremendous pressure. It won't be that easy to bat for aussies in this type of track.

yaseer
April 9, 2006, 07:35 AM
Just do not give chance to the aussies to come back......most important to win the 1st session of tomorrow........because i am sure if we bowl to our potential.....aussies gonna struggle to score 400 in this pitch.......

There is every possibility to score 500.

Rajin is there with Mashud who has got test century, Rafiq hs got test century as weel and his form in bat is fine in this year, Mashrafee can be a killer in slow wicket, Enamul and Shahadat also knows batting at least how to dfend. So the game is pretty on...

Let's hope for the best..

From our past records, it does not look convincing that our tail enders will score some runs tomorrow when they get their chance to bat. Rafique, Masrhafee has managed to get some runs in the recent past, but they were mostly against spinners.

So, I'm not hoping too many runs from our lower order, especially after specialist batsman getting us to such a huge total already. At least, that is what our tradition is.

Rajin and Pilot are capable of staying at the crease, and then Rafiq and masri can add some quickfire runs. This may be a rare chance for Masri to rise as an allrounder (Imran Khan - if you guys remember!)

Shabash, Bangladesh! We can draw this match, and parhaps a ...win, if our bowlers plays their heart out, and if the 2nd innings batting clicks...

I read the headlines - this series is about establishing our place in the test club, and make Ponting say one more time,"I am ashamed of what I said."

I live in Dominica (caribbean island @ lesser Antillies). I didn't see BD test mach before, only read in cricinfo live commentary. It was pleasure to see BD against giant AUS. I never felt so good before, so relaxed. They all hold their nerve. Although I must admit they are bit unprofessional when comes to settling down and stay @ the crease. When you have good score on the board, balls are not threatening, certainly you do not need to play like what basher did or careless ASH. Very unfortunate, but hey, they are only twentys compare to Aussies 30's. they will learn.

I enjoyed every bit of this game. Ash reminds me of Brian Lara, very pleasing to see him.

Score would have read 355/3. Best of luck to BD.

we should get 400 easily...tho the new ball in seaming conditions and lee-clark-dizzy will threaten.

we come up on the most absorbing 2nd day in bangladesh test history.

what dominance...sad to see ash and aftab with small scores, but i am still pleased.

this shows the real progress...ash and aftab are no longer the men.

even 355 all out would build some pressure, its a lot more than most teams average against OZ for the entire 1st innings

we should not get cocky as in the recent series in south africa austrilaia often picked up the last 4/5 wickets for only about 20 runs

our first target should be to bat out the first session and then see where we are and reacess from there

430 would realisticly be a good score and it is one that we can get but only if we bat sensibly

Hey folks!

I tried posting this on a new thread but that didn't quite work out too well so here goes....

Let me begin by congratulating all of you for your performance on the 1st Day of the Test Match vs. Australia. It's a pity the match doesn't come here because it must have made for riveting viewing! I am a loyal enthusiast of Bangladesh cricket and all other developing cricketing nations. I sincerely hope you'll win atleast one game against the Aussies.

Anyways, to business now. I am the webmaster of CaughtBehind.com - a site I just registered which we are still in the process of designing and creating. CaughtBehind.com is visioned to be the first ever cricket SUPERBLOG i.e. in other words a combination of the best cricket bloggers from all cricket playing nations in the world. We have already contacted and signed up some of the leading cricket bloggers in the world and have filled most of our vacancies.

However, after a lot of "googling" and looking around on the Internet, I was still unable to find a popular Bangladeshi cricket "blog"; therefore we folks at caughtbehind.com are on the lookout for someone proficient in English and knowledgable on Bangladeshi cricket to become our Bangladeshi blogger and in other words become the official Bangladesh correspondent of CaughtBehind.com. It is a great honour as you will work with the leading cricket bloggers in the world and will also be doing a service to Bangladesh cricket by spreading the gospel and making sure the Bangladeshi point of view is heard across the world.

You may ask what benefits would you get? Well, this is an unpaid job as is any form of blogging but you will get miscellaneous benefits such as the official title of Bangladesh Cricket Correspondent, you will get your own professional @caughtbehind.com e-mail ID, you will become the moderator of our forum with the title "Bangladesh Correspondent", you will be incharge of the subdomain "http://bangladesh.caughtbehind.com" and more than anything, it is a great honour to work with the leading cricket bloggers in the world. And the work you have to do isn't much - write a couple of articles every week representing Bangladeshi opinions and point of view on all cricketing issues. I don't want scorecards and match reports.. I want OPINIONS.. I want the correspondent to reflect what opinions an average Bangladeshi has, what Bangladesh as a nation feels... So the overall work isn't much at all....

If there is anyone interested (administrators and moderators of this forum are most welcome too) to find out more information or to take up this position please e-mail me at webmaster@caughtbehind.com

Cheers and have a great day all of you!

we have to get the home page to match again.

Pretty much their display at Cairns.

That and the fact that I'm a sucker for battler teams ... I remember Sydney when Simon Minton-Connell was at full-forward, and I also barrack for the Bunnies.

How do you know that Braveheart.

You can say that pretty easily. At the end if his over the camera was right on his face. He was seen making a comment to pilot. You can easily figure out what he was saying. He said the same thing twice.

It is a bit hard to complain to ICC or match referee about that. It is considered to be part of the game. Also it is harder to prove it if the umpire did not hear him say it.

It's elementary my dear Sherlock.

The longer Australia are in the field, the more tired they will be.

The more tired they are, the harder they find it to concentrate.

The harder it is to concentrate, the more bad decisions will be made.

Bad decisions like 'Of course that ball from Masrafee isnt spearing towards middle and leg, I can safely pad it away'.

Every minute that Hayden, Ponting and the rest of them are chasing leather in the heat is another minute to get more tired, more worn down by the humidity and more likely to bat badly.

Yesterday was for prettyness. Today is to grind Australia into the dirt.

Nope, it's about the team, not the individual records.

Bangladesh need to bat till lunch, then bat till drinks, then bat till tea.

After that, they need to bowl at the exhausted, jet-lagged, demoralised Australians.

Mods again facing difficulty in accessing banglacricket.

Poor shot from Rafiq, needless. We just need to play around Rajin and play with aussies patience.

i dont hold any faith in this once in a while surprise attack by bd.....watch, by the second innings they will flop badly as always

this looks like a solid batting pitch.....nd we dont have very good bowlers nd aussies have mammoth batting lineup......i wudnt get my hopes up so easily..

They do not have a massive batting lineup.

They played five batsman, and then it's Gilchrist.

Australia are good, but quit treating them like demi-gods.

Bangladesh all out for 427. Eight wicket from MacGill. Superb bowling from him but couple of poor shot from tail helped him to get those late wickets.
