Any one in the first 7 line up of AUS can change the fate of a game. So we have to bat whole day 4 to pile up big lead, 450+ and then 2 prong spin attack on the last day.

But, but Allar waste one day khela khelo na jeno babara...

FOUR again!! Down the leg side from Lee, shahriar nafees tickles the ball and sends it on its way to the boundary ropes.

What's GOLLA doing? He slashes the ball high over the slips, and it goes to Macgill on the first bounce.

I think bangladesh needs to bat till tea 4th day (at least close to tea)... then we will ensure the draw and go for the kill on the 5th day and take a good shot at winning the game.

JO just misses a four. Ball pitched on legstump and he is ytrying to drive it

pajicheleNY
April 11, 2006, 03:41 AM
this opportunity should not be wasted. by positive cricket i meant maintaining rr of 4 without taking unnecessary risks. no need for both batsmen to attack at the same time. someone needs to assume sheet anchor role and if it were up to me that guy would've be JO. The guy'z perfectly suited for that role. Hez not a natural hitter of the ball. Dunno y he changed his style last summer and adopted this new gung ho approach. given he has scored a few useful runs off late , he does so mainly by riding lot of luck as opposed to putting his skills into use. anyways, hope today will be another one of his lucky days. keepin my fingers crossed

bop
April 11, 2006, 03:42 AM
Nafees need to be careful little more. No need to take risk now. If we can put another 60-70 runs today .. we will be on top of the game.. and tommrow we can take risk and go for the kill.

350 will probably be enough.

450 is pretty safe.

Me, I'd get 500 ahead, and then declare, ideally at around the post-lunch drinks break tomorrow.

But thats not the point. The point is every ball on it's merits, stay together, build partnerships 20 runs at a time.

You made it to tea, now the target is 70. After that, 90. And so on.

Ejaj, mate,

Imagine you are one of those Australian supporters who think it's still 2002.

You've seen MacGill take 8-102. You've seen Gilchrist hit 140.

*And your team is still facing defeat against Bangladesh*

Bangladesh need one good 70 run partnership, three 25 run partnerships, and 30 runs out of the rest of them and this match is *almost* out of Australia's reach.

And thats not that hard to imagine.

I'd prefer aftab to come out before Ashraful. They should just bat out this session without geting themselves out. Unfortunately our team doesnt have a good 2nd innings record. Plus, I have to concede, the batsmen must be absolutely tired after being out on the field for a good 24 hours. Its going to be tough going, this. Newbie,

It isnt as if Bangladesh collapsed to be 6-93 chasing 427 or anything.

Bangladesh are 4-235 right now.

Every run makes it more difficult for Australia.

Another 70 runs and it's a very, very difficult target.

Shimraj,

It isnt over till it's over.

They have to bat last on this, against Rafique.

As long as there are 2 Bangladeshi batsmen left, the target gets harder.

Ian Whitchurch

Ian, You might have mind of steel, but I am getting really hopeless. I am seeing AUS bowlers are consistently bowling well and our badsmen are consistently shaky - each one of them so far.

I don't think we should be aggressive at this point. There are only 20 or so overs left in the day. I think we should just try to keep our wickets for as long as we can, and then the runs will come. Even at if we score at a little over 2 runs an over for the rest of the day, we'd give the Australians a target of about 300 runs.

Nope, the target is 120 runs. Then 140 runs. And so on.

The eventual aim is 'As many as we can get, then declare'. Remember, Australia need to make up the first-innings deficit, then get every run Bangladesh score from now on, then another 99.

And they need to do that late in the game, on a turning pitch, against Rafique and Enamul.

The wicket is a key. Aussies are good stroke players and great batsmen on normal wickets, but this one is keeping low and turning viciously. Line and length bowlers could be a handful if the ball is low. Not many Aussies have a good technique for a wicket like this. Winning the toss had been incredibly critical.
