View Full Version : If Bashar wins the toss bat or bowl?

If Pointing wins the toss I'm pretty sure that he'll do what Vaughn did and make us bat first.
If Bashar wins the toss I think he'd be leaning toward putting us in the field because Australia is using 5 Bowlers. If Mashrafe can do his thing like he did vs India by removing one of there openers wecan possibly restrict them around 380.
But Bashar just may wanna bat anyway. So what do you think Bashar or Pointing do?

As Aus have two class leg spinner and we know that the pitch in fatullah is a slow one, I assume that it would be unwise to make aus to bat first. Otherwise we have to bat in a condition when the pitch will start acting.
Ponting will also send bd to bat first to keep the pressure of following on, I assume.

If we can't bat first, then there is every chance that the aussies may press hard to finish the test in 2 days. I think anyone who will win the toss will prefer to bat first.

Bat first to utilize thhe wicket. Anyway even we bowl first I don't feel that aussies will be finishing the test in 2 or even 3 days. I won't be easy for the aussies to acclimatize to slow wicket straight after SA wicket.

I think the decision should be made as late as possible keeping eyes on the pitch, overcast conditions, weather forecast, possible tricky outcomes etc etc.
Whatever it is, we should stick to the game plan Whatmore, I'm positive, had already laid out.
Tight and courageous fielding together with smart bowling changes should be on the card.
When bating, we should never let a single ball go out of sight. Negotiating each ball the old fashion way of patience instead of compulsion should give us something to be proud of.

Given the overcast condition tonight, I would prefer to bowl first. We need to give Mash and Rajib to use every possible help from the pitch.
As for the batsmen, history says, whatever the pitch is, they don't get out to good balls, they get out to themselves. So batting 3rd or 4th innings would not make any difference.

Well chinaman put it best. We should consider weather and pitch factors. Hope our think tank thinking good before they make decision.

Bat first... They have 2 spinners. We have 2 spinners. Inshallah 300 plus on batting first then putting them under pressure as they one Bat short.

in bangladesherkhela, bashar mentioned that the pitch is slow.so he would prefer to bat first.i am just worried about rajib.if he doesnt deliver,we will be in trouble.not having a third pacer is just too risky.if it doesnt work out,we may even see spinners in the first 15 overs.

Bat first.......no other options......no way we can bowl fisrt as we have 2 pacer n 2 spinner attack.....the more delay our batsman can make to send aussie bat....the more effective our 2 spinners will be.

No matter how many bowlers we have, if we let AUS bat first, they will pile up at least 500 which means innings defeat (especially when Warne is there).
We should definitely BAT first and keep the wickets intact. If we can push the test to 5th day, it will be a big victory for us, even if we loose by 10 wickets.

Unless the pitch is moist enough to make a farmer jelous, we should bat first. the main reason is, their bowlers still have some fatigue left in them. We should use that. if they bats for 5 sessions, bowlers will be all ready to rock and roll.

If "Ponting" wins then they will bat on the batting pitch for sure as they always do :) and they will by an innings for sure . Our main target is to take that test to the 4th day atleast .

Same as always - you have a look at the pitch and the weather, then you get tempted, then you think about bowling first, then you bat first.

No doubt, win toss, then bat first and score 355/5 at the end of first days play. What a wonderful day it was. I wish everyday was like this one. Bangladesh team really made us proud today. Go bangladesh, fill some of those aussie big mouths with wonderful performances like today. This is one of the greatest day of my life, no doubt about that.
