View Full Version : BD Vs Aus, 3rd ODI

August 5, 2003, 06:56 PM
Australia has won the toss and going to bat first. Mashrafe and Ashraful are in for Rokon and Shanto.

August 5, 2003, 07:03 PM
lee and lehmaan replaced by gillespie and williams.

Shujon's big chance to prove himself.

August 5, 2003, 07:13 PM
shujon prove what?! that he ia imbecile?! he dropped gilchrist already....

August 5, 2003, 07:24 PM
a "sitter". some good bowling by BD though, i'm afraid if we drop those rare chances to get a wicket, they will settle and pretty soon go on the rampage - when the fielder at first slip comes on to bowl himself?

August 5, 2003, 07:35 PM
If Sujan does not do extremely well, he should be dropped out of both Test and ODI.

August 5, 2003, 07:50 PM
we have an obsession with captains who can neither bat nor bowl. does anyone remember naimur aka MORX?

August 5, 2003, 07:54 PM
11.1 Khaled Mahmud to Gilchrist, FOUR, full outside off, whacked away to
the cover boundary

Military medium pacer and captain Khaled Mahmud into the attack

August 5, 2003, 08:00 PM
gilchrist out!!!

August 5, 2003, 08:01 PM
for all the rafique detractors out there, he strikes first over!

sujon should take himself out of the bowling and apply some pressure with either tapash or masri for 2 overs

August 5, 2003, 08:41 PM
I think Sujan can apply pressure by taking himself out of cricket completely.

August 5, 2003, 08:49 PM
hey is everyone sleeping 2 wickets gone and no response in the board .

August 5, 2003, 08:54 PM
Aussie mini-collapse??!?!?!? when was the last time the aussies lost 3 wickets in such quick time
Go Bangladesh! GO tigers! Go home Shujon!

August 5, 2003, 08:56 PM
was away for a while - 3 in 3 overs - awesome!! and no sujon in sight, that's why!

August 5, 2003, 08:59 PM
need ponting and bevan's wkt - then we will be in the game.

August 5, 2003, 09:33 PM
13 overs to go and plenty of bowlers available. sujon was doing well with rotation until a collosal mistake - bringing himself into the attack again just when aussies will be looking to increase the run rate. the man is brave

August 5, 2003, 09:35 PM
I think he will be sacked/thrown out of the team immediately after he returns to BD. He's trying to relish the moments as much as he can.

August 5, 2003, 09:55 PM
he bowled the 43rd over for 15 runs. we may have kept htme under 250!

August 5, 2003, 10:15 PM
Two catches droppped from both bevan and ponting near the end ....this is terrible.

August 5, 2003, 10:19 PM
Bevan gone...hoooray for masri!

August 5, 2003, 10:20 PM
i wonder why they dropped those catches..

i feel so sorry for tapash, he is really unlucky sometimes.. so many dropped catches occur when he is bowling.. :(

August 5, 2003, 10:23 PM
yessssssssssss he finally managed to get
one out yay for Tapash!!! (and ponting too).

August 5, 2003, 10:30 PM
254/7 - not a bad effort at all :) Especially considering that many people thought Au could score 400+ against BD if they batted first!

August 5, 2003, 10:30 PM

excellent bowling performance! it could have been even better if we had manged to hold on to some catches...
Nopw only if our batting clicks
this is a one day game anything can happen :) at least lets keep hoping :P

August 5, 2003, 10:31 PM
The inning of Australia has ended 254 for 7. Masri get another wicket, 2 in total.

August 5, 2003, 10:32 PM
Sujan's days are numbered unless he scores the winning run for this match.

August 5, 2003, 10:34 PM
If BD can get anywhere near the vicinity of 200 I will be over the moon!

I note on the live scorecard they mentioned the pitch is slow.. :-/

August 5, 2003, 10:38 PM
Thats rite the pitch here in Darwin is slow thats what scaring me. 100+ will be very tough for our team against the Aussie attack.:(

August 5, 2003, 10:42 PM
On a slow pitch and Aussie pace attack ready for revenge I wud be happy with 150 if we can make it that far. Sumon bowled way more than he should have. I can understand him tryign to get a breakthourgh with his first spell (4-0-26-0). But if he used just other bowlers later like Ashraful or others they cudnt be worse than allowing 15 run overs.

August 5, 2003, 10:45 PM
I was surprised by how Aussie batting crumbled at the end! This is significant because, slow pitch or not, they put in 50 runs in 5 overs after 42nd and were gettign ready to post soemthing in the 270-280 range. Then Masri and Taposh finally excelled and we see 3 wkts fell for jsut 16 runs in last 3 overs! This too after 2 dropped catched earlier! Shows that we have very promising pace bowlers fighting against the world's best!

August 5, 2003, 10:47 PM
Why is Ash suddenly out of the attack for a while? Why this guy Sujon is so crazy about bowling, he never gets a wicket and the only thing he proves by his bowling is that he's expensive. I think even a 14-15 year old kid can hit him for SIX. Sujon is simply useless.

August 5, 2003, 10:51 PM
From cricinfo:
"The unfortunate bowler in the side was captain Khaled Mahmud who finished the tour wicketless with 293 runs off his bowling, 173 in Tests and 120 in ODIs. " And he is also the world record holder in test for most expensive bowling. Funny thing is, he probably cud escape all the limelight by just letting other off-form bowlers bowl a few and get whacked. They couldnt do any worse than he did .. and save him the notoriety. What an idiot

August 5, 2003, 11:01 PM
I am quite certain that Sujon will be under a lot of pressure once he gets back. He hasnt contributed a thing in batting bowling or fielding.

I quite liked the name Morx. We should have should have something for sujon as well. Any ideas??

August 5, 2003, 11:18 PM
Sujon is taking up a place that could have gone to a 3rd pacer such as Monju or Monir (or even Shanto for God's sake).

I thought he rotated well until the 38th over when he brought himself back. There was enough success to warrant keeping the lid on with the spinners - Sanwar hardly got into a rythm and Ash was untried. They could have bowled the 3-4 overs sujon did before tapash/masri returned.

there will always be dropped catches but the one by sujon in the 2nd over set the tone.

despite sujon's presence, and slow pitch or not, 254/7 is excellent and we had 2-3 bowlers who did well. why don't they play like this every day - against weker teams we could actually start winning OR at least not get thrashed.

August 6, 2003, 12:12 AM
BD 2/24 Hannan and Basher gone. Golla is doing ok, but scoring slowly. He needs a partner to score some singles and doubles.

August 6, 2003, 12:16 AM
javed is gone on Ians first ball. This is pathetic!

August 6, 2003, 12:21 AM
Whats up with this. They also forgot how to run between wickets!

14.4 Harvey to Sanwar Hossain, no run, turned to square leg, they set
off for a single, they both set off for a single, Tushar
unbelieably turns back half way through, after they've already
crossed, and the two of them end up at the same end

August 6, 2003, 12:23 AM
4/31, they look like bunch of scared kids making stupid mistakes out of fear.

August 6, 2003, 12:26 AM
I swear that run out sounds ridiculous! This isn't time for this type of behaviour..

August 6, 2003, 12:28 AM
Once again, the batting has disappointed us. This is a lost one. I will be happy if we cross 100:mad:

August 6, 2003, 12:28 AM
Ash gone!

August 6, 2003, 12:28 AM
OMG Ashraful out.. this is TERRIBLE.. worse than the other two performances.. what the devil!!

August 6, 2003, 12:28 AM
Ashraful OUT
Just saw him getting out in HomeviewBangladesh. That bastard took a cross batted wild swing at the ball. Shalara kobay shikbay

August 6, 2003, 12:30 AM
bhob.. happy if they cross 100? Can you seriously be happy at this dismal performance at all? I can only imagine what Dav is feeling right now..

August 6, 2003, 12:30 AM
:mad:Lets hope we dont break the record of the lowest score!

August 6, 2003, 12:31 AM
I think we just crossed the lowest score. Wasn't it 36!!!

August 6, 2003, 12:40 AM
Really.I thought it was 71 of india agaisnt srilanka.

Phew what a relief!

August 6, 2003, 12:46 AM
I m sorry it's actually

43 Pakistan
19.5 Overs vs West Indies Cape Town
Feb 25, 1993

August 6, 2003, 12:47 AM
Sad thing is, the batting line up is set up as it should be, the team selection (except for Shujon, who could hav been RESTED) has been good.

I don't think too many people have been critical of the team selection. However, what happens on the field is beyond everyone else but those playing and they are playing llike bunch of sissies (sp).

August 6, 2003, 12:50 AM
These 2 r playing decent as compared to others!

Hope they continue.

Lets hope ......................:-/

August 6, 2003, 01:38 AM
Dear friends,

Please just wish Kapali stays until the 50 overs is over. Let him play all the way and then.......

o ya
just like how
cricket is played
in the city of Dhaka
o ya

August 6, 2003, 01:53 AM
nooooooooooooooooooooooo Alok out on 49!!!!! :(

August 6, 2003, 02:27 AM
for jinxing alok in the chat room. I also caused sujon to run himself out at less than 7. for these predfictions I am sorry.

did we cross our previous worst margin of defeat against australia?

I still think the bowling in this game is a positive take-away.

August 6, 2003, 03:45 AM
The two lowest ODI scores are both in the 30s........one was Zimbabwe v Sri Lanka and the other was Canada v Sri Lanka

August 6, 2003, 03:55 AM
well i think we did heaps better than in the second match. i'm so proud of our bowlers. and our batsmen, well, what can i say...are we surprised? i didn't see Alok's wicket, but judging from the nature of our batsmen, it probably came about through his stupidity. i hope he knows how much he missed out on. imagine- a one-day 50 against australia. can we ever play a match which has no form of collapse whatsoever? even one wicket per 20-30 runs would do.

and who was saying what the lowest odi total was? it's not 43 by pak! doesn't anyone remember the world cup? sri lanka vs canada? 36?

i just figured out some of the fantsay cricket scores and i think i know who won.
well two won actually. and i think they should both be disqualified for having the same team!
