View Full Version : What is you prediction for the 2nd Test?

Thirdman

Will they do better than the 1st Test? Worse?

What does history say? My feeling is we do worse after a good one.

I hate to say, but I have a feeling there is chance we will see the "good-old" Bangladesh again: Great Batting Collapse.

On individual performance, do you think Ash will come back? I don't. My prediction for Ash's score is below 20 in both innings. I think Nafees, Rajin and Bashar will do good.

What do you think?

I really feel pity for the fans who are writing and hoping the result in the second test will be innings defeat for BD.

Thats not going to happen. BD will show improved performance with bat this time and efinitely in the second innings.

I do not know what will be the result but I am sure BD will fight hard to maintain the pride they have earned in the first test.

<!--StartFragment -->BD learned how to compete with AUS, and don't undermined our bowling strength.
So, I think there will bo no innings defeat.

We gonna bowl them out at least once in the next test, and hopefully we will put a better show with bat in both innings. I wish we can take the next test to the final day as well. I want to see our team continued to show their fighting spirit during the rest of the series. I am really proud of the way we have played, just keep that up in the coiming matches. May Allah bless us to that.

A crushing Defeat for sure. OUr players have already lost their morale after such a defeat.. and Aussiie will not be making similar mistakes again. Plus.. they are bring Left arm Fast bowler.. I will be surprised if Bd could manage to score more than 150 in 1st innings this time.
And. then. U have to add A huge negative point---> Bashar's captaincy. BD will simply loose to Bashar alone.. forget any chance agaisnt Aussie.

I including the rest of the respnders in this thread would love to say otherwise, but realistically, Bangladesh will probably do worse than the first test. We can't even play well in two consecutive innings, let alone two consecutive tests. Although, a repeat performance of our first innings will by hard to come bay, we can hope to put a good bowling show as usual. Ash is expected to make some runs, as (probably) aftab's departure will make him afraid of losing his own position. As for captaincy, there has been calls for Rafiq to take over, but I prefer someone much younger and only after the world cup. So, good luck Bangladesh, we want more from you and every 4 and every wicket will pound our hearts even more.

Defeat most likely but less than 150 in first innings not likely ...... Who is that left arm fast bowler in Aus side so devastating???? If so why he is not playing against SA when the their team was having problem waith fast bowler....

About Bashar we all know he is not a great captain, but do you have any other option. To be a successfull captain you need a team to perform consistently and untill we got something like that i am sorry......Even in this match you can blame Bashar for his seconf innings run out but i don't feel that he did so badly with captaincy. Just two very good innings from Gili and Punter took the match away from us and we all know the capability of these two...Don't we?

our batsmen are too inconsistent. they have to learn that a new match is a new day and a new beginning. until they do so, 400+ scores will continue to be followed by pathetic performances in not only the second inning but also in the following matches.

it's not everyday that you have australia in a corner like this; so i am not predicting anything good from the second match. we had our chance and i guess we missed it. that's the end of the story for now.

Thanks mate for your reply. It promted me to reply you back with some information about what wrote baack.

1. Left Arm Pace bowler issue: Bangladesh had been traditionally weak agasint left arm Pace bowler. U dont need Vaas all thetime to prove it. Our batsman are traditionaly weak playing away move ball to a right hander which is basically a natural inswinger for an left Armer. Ball pitching Middle and Off.. with an away moving ball from a left hander.. is probably a death trap for most of BD right handers. This is particularly true not for just BD batsmen.. but most of the Subcontinent batsman. Thus, including a left armer .. who may not even play any test match yet.. still could be a difficult option for our batsbat. The only suggestions would be to have have flat pitch with comfortable bonuce. So. basically. U dont need Wasim Akram to trouble BD batsman. As far as left armer'S chance against SA batsman.. its pointless.. since.. they arent so poor playing left armers. Thats the reason..they didnt pick him up agasint SA. Moreover.. they had clark to do the damage along wtih Lee and statigically.. Aus will defniteily target Leg spin dept. rather then Left arm with SA. since. they are weakest against Spin.

2. Issue relating Bashar.. well i have already opend up another thread adn discussed in details. where was his fault. As a captain.. u must know how to use your bowlers. and given bangladesh test life.. BD never had such better bowling attack than this time before. So. why I would still consider BD loosing ??. We have Rafoq, Enam.. can trouble any batsman in thw world.. we Mash and Rajib. who are much much better than waht we had before. So. why the result still reflects what happened 3 years back??.. When u r playing in ur country.. with everyting favoring you and u have 2 gems bowling for u and U have Aussie caught in ur nets.. why would i accept that fact that Bashar's poor captaincy became the main reason for this Aussie to go away. When we can have oppriotunie to stike down.. we have to strike down. This wont happen so often.. and its plain stupid to let the oppertunity go down. I have no complain to waht happepd to BD in 2nd innings.. since .. i already knew. that.. Auusie will defintely overpower bd in 2nd innings and our batsman will crack down on this pressure. My triump card was defintiely a good first innings lead.. and. becoz of Bashar.. that got ruined. .. and On this issue.. yes. yes yes.. bashar has to take all the blame for such pathtic use of his bowlers. and such pathetic cricketing mind and such pathetic Vegetable mentality.

There is nothing wrong how auusie played. They played excellent. Full credit to them. They make miles from when you give them a yard. Thats why.. they are best. Bashar's fault--> he was stupid enough to give them a yard.

I'm surprised to see so many deafitist here. Well, some of you are blaming Bashar for giving up too early (I saw one post saying he gave up on day 3!). What are you doing here???? This is not the way to support your team to the last!!!

I don't think Bangladesh team lost morale. After a defeat like this, you gain confidence. The anger in you keeps you going. Did you see the way Shahadat heat Ponting on the face when there was only 1 run needed for an ausie victory? Did you see how many balls the ausie had to wait to score the final run? Do you really, honestly think the team was giving up even then?

I don't know the result. But I can guarantee you...YOU WILL SEE ANOTHER FIGHT in CHITTAGONG.

It is going to be a much tougher match the 2nd one. And at the end of 4th day... I was certain that BD is going back to its old form again. But after the 5th day fightback... I have started hoping again for another good show.

Tiger's could smell blood again on 5th day. I think that will effect their game in a positive way in 2nd test.

BD will win the 2nd Test.

Both JO and Shahriar will have 1 half century.

Ash will make at least one century.

Bashar will make at least on half century.

Rajin will be in the crease for for 3 sessions and make about 30 runs each innings.

Aus batting will collapse to our spinners.

Ash will be the MOM.

Yeah true Bashar did a terrible job as a captain... but our batsmen have to take their part of the blame.... I mean we can't just let them get away by saying... oh I knew they gonna fail in the second innings... when we are playing test cricket, its not acceptable that our boys will fail in the second innings.... I feel like its more a mental issue than anything else and they better fix it as soon as possible... shahadat's spell was quite impressive and I m sure the bouncer itself guranteed him another test against australia

We are not really hoping for a defeat here. I really wish my predictions are wrong. But we are just talking negative based on the trend we've seen in the past.

Good observation though, about Shahadat's bouncer on Ponting's helmet. But I had a feeling it was more the anger towards Mashrafe for dropping the catch than on
anything else. But any type of anger is good.

This team needs passion, and a passionate Captain more than anything else.

I hate predictions. Dang!! I sound like a broken record.

Since we can not predict if we would live to see the match, we should not predict what would happen after the match. For those who are predicting a negetive result think positive.

I have a sickening feeling that our batters will let us down in the 2nd test, in both innings this time. Historically, BD has a tendency to do worse after a sparkling performance. Just 2 examples - after earning a respectfull draw with WI, we succumbed in the next match, and winning comprehensively in the first test with ZIM, we had to fight hard to earn a draw in the next.
I sincerely want BD proves otherwise this time around.
Go BD go...............

We are not yet in a stage to produce 427 regularly. Consistency is the area where we are still lacking. I'm sure if BD batsman can produce good runs, our bowlers will pull a game. The way they played in 2nd innings and the way aussies are now adjusted to our condition, I don't see much chance to avoid an innings defeat.

i would say that we lost a pretty good opportunity in the 1st test. think of this way : there might not be a tremendous innings like Shahriar Nafees and there might not be this kind of partnership of 187 runs in the 2nd test. i would really like those things to happen. but great things are always rare.

I expect an even better performance from bangladesh. This test would give them enormous self-belief and confidence. I feel that this young team is abundant on potential but acutely short on self belief.
If nafees, rafique and the likes can repeat their efforts and a few of the non performers like ash and aftab put their hands up... the tigers will surely roar again.

Just one info:
England coach took the newly arriving players straight to the field for practice in Fatullah yesterday in the post-lunch session just after the match finished. This can hint how dead serious the Aussies are about the 2nd test. :)

Chinaman bhai, I am irrational that's why I am fan. There is no way Ian can be fan of Bangladesh or there would be fan for smaller clubs. How many of us fan of Bangladesh football team. In statistical term both football and cricket team are pathetic loosers. It is irrationality that wake us up whole night while facing defeat, that disturb our neighbour in the dead of night while enjoying win. Rationality does not support any of those. It is irrationality that make Ash compareble to Tendu or Mash comparable to McGrath. So asking rationality from fan is asking hitlar for mercy

April 14, 2006, 10:42 PM
It will be time to face reality very soon, and the first 3 days of first test were surreal. You know what I mean? Javel Omar Golla will flash after 18, Shahriar will follow after either 9 or 37, Bashar will take the Aus to catch or throw practice after 5 or 50, Ashraful will score a 0 or a pathetic 5, Aftab scores 9 or 17, and even the dependable mashud will score 9. I will stop here. Keep in mind, the BD team hasnt improved a bit. Complacency over a lost game has rather taken it far back. Hate me or love me - mark my words.

I agree with you, BonBon. BD team did not improve as much as some people say..one example is the 2nd innings..some BD players did not change and improve, and they won't because they are mentally retarded..unable to learn from their mistakes in a 3/4 years span of time.

Maybe some appreciation has spoiled some players already in BD team.

BD will give a good fight nd if we can rectify our second innings debacles we will win the second test or at least run very close... either aftab or ashraful will come good in the test or maybe both ... bashar will be his usual self nd will get at least one half century .....rafique will be as effective as he always is .... shariar nafees will not be able to succeed.....i hope he proves me wrong though .... mashrafi nd shahadat will also play their parts ...

Right.

I don't really expect BD to get to another 400+ in first innings in CTG. Bashar eveny may lose the toss this time and may have to field first... and in that case it will be more difficult for the Batsmen.

But BD scored just 572 runs (427+145) in the 1st test....and with that much of runs, the bowlers almost won the match. I hope BD can score something around 600 runs in total this time (maybe 350+250 in 1st+2nd innings). The Assies are going to come back hard this time. But a total of 600 runs will still put up a good fight in BD wickets.

Ok. AUS will bat only one time which will make bd bat twice on the row. So don't expect that BD will well on 2nd test. There will be no chance for BD to win next test. I am telling all of you for 100% sure. ok. Hope you all dude will not talk about **** that BD will make wrold history. Not at all. Chance come once a while which was BD lost it and there will no more chance like that for a while. Hope we all dude will shut the **** off not. i know they are heartbroken but i dont think they will be down as much as it's looking like. they have gone through a lot with this situation before.. even worse at multan or in west indies where even Lara was tested. this will only make them mentally tough and ultimately they will be more consistent.

but i dont think they will be able to do as much as aussies are going to have some fresh players in their team and there is a good chance that they'll show a better performance in ctg. probably we'll show a descent performance like around 250 runs in the 1st innings and 200 in the second innings and aussies will win it at the end of 4th day! now let's see how far can we go.. :)

It seems:
1. Aus have got the opportunities to sdjust with the new conditions in the 1st test.
2. They got the Fresh Fire Power from home to replace the exhausted one.
3. As Ponting said: they would be in the field for the 2nd test with better plan (i would say plot)

BD in turn:
1. Got the new-found-confidence that will drive them into more relaxed mood. And will call this as the "Positive mindset" and brew it into overconfidense.
2. Since Bashar and Nafees has done their job for this series, they will not repeat the same. Ash and Aftab will perish as usual. Rajin will try but will not get support.
3. All but our Knights and our Guns (Rafiq, Mas, Shahadat, Enam) will roar as usual, toil hard to foil Aus. And after 3rd day tea or 4th day lunch we would say if there was enough run on board, our potent bowlers would take the match to a crunching end!
