Selectors always find a way to put a rabbit out of the hat. That 55 must of gave him an opportunity.

Cricman the title should say something about along the line that this is the final 11 for the ODI.

I think this is the best 11 we have at the moment... I would like to see Tushar Imran getting some opportunity as well.

PS: Definitely very happy to see JO getting dropped!

1. Shahryar Nafees 2. M Ashraful 3. H. Suman 4. Rajin Saleh 5. Afab Ahmed 6. Alok Kapali 7. Khaled Masud 8. M Rafique 9. Masrafe Mortaza 10. Shahadat Hossain
11. Sayed Rasel

Shahryar, Suman, Rajin, Khaled, Rafiq and Masrafe`s position do not any explanation.

2. Ashraful: He is not a thinking player and can never be made aware of his resposnsibilities. He knows only one thing and that is playing his strokes. Putting him in a position where it will need him to be aware of the situation is meaningless. So the best way to snatch out the best of him is to play him in the opening. Moreover he was a opener in the youth team and very well knows how to play the new ball. Secondly J O B Gullu will be off so we really need a opener.

5. Aftab Ahmed: Technically one of the strongest players of the country plus he is becoming a very good finisher day by day. Our team can`t affort of losing him.

6. Alok Kapali: He is a strong player and the best occasional leg spinner. As we don`t want a Raz or Enamul (jr) he along with Rajin and aftab can take care of 10 over bowling easily and we won`t have to take the burden of a second spinner in an ODI. Instead we can have a speacialist batsman.

10. Shahadat: No he is no more just a helping hand of Masrafe. He has proved his importance and necessity in the team.

11. Rasel: best for new ball bowling

Now look even after losing 4 wickets we will have speacialist batsmen in the middle. After a strong batting line up is what success in ODI is all about.

Tell me how is Tanzie thinking.

Not surprised to see Alok's inclusion.. that's the best ODI team I can hope for, although I'd pick Rana (if he was in the squad), instead of Razzak..

A very good selection indeed for the first ODI. Tushar will be the ultimate choice if any of the top order fails, especially playing stupid strokes.

Razzaq has to prove his weight in the first game otherwise I dont see any ability in him. So lets see what he does today.

This would have been a perfect team, if there was Rana instead of Razzak, otherwise everything is fine. Lets hope Razzak proves I am wrong.

Let's see how our batting order becomes this time if we batted first.I was also expecting Tushar Imran in the first 11.Selectors drop Rajib ,is this because of the pitch or he is not an ODI prospect for us ye?

Man they should not have Razzak. I garauntee if Andrew Symonds gets a chance to bat he will belt the spinners and razzak for sure. They should try to give Rajin some overs. Atleast he can turn the ball. I would definitely include Tushar imran in the side for a few games.

I heard on the news earlier BD is planning to go with 3 spinners.. I guess that meant Alok, Rafique and Razzak and we have Masri and Rasel for pace so that's pretty much 5 bowlers.. Aussies have Symonds, Cullen and Hogg.. so the pitch probably has something in it for slowies?

The composition is great. Now all depends on performance.

Best of luck

Spare a thought for JO.

This might be the beginning of the end of his ODI career. He must be distraught. Poor guy he's served best as he could but there is just too much competition now.

Goodbye JO.

Yep, definitely the best ODI team available to BD right now. For once, the selectors have got it spot on!

I think I would agree with cracky that the team would be better if we could get Rana instead of Razzak.

However, good work by the selectors and let's hope this time they will show the performance and not the talent only.

Exactly the team that was predicted. I guess we all waiting for that all rounder to come through for the number 6 position at present Alok Kapali is taking it ... He has not really starred with bat nor ball fielding is good I must admit. This is a chance for him to grab his chance .... I think if he does not Selectors will seriously have to look else where ... Saqibul Hasan, Mehrab Junior awaiting but are they ready ?

I'm OK with the fact that JO is not playing ODI. Rajin and SN should open. But I'm not OK with either one of Alok and Rajjak.

why? see it for yourself tonight.

Hope Razzak is the water boy.

Sorry
April 22, 2006, 03:16 PM
In the other thread, people were arguing whether rajjak chucks or sucks and it appeared to me that many members agreed on he actually has both qualities. Now, many people are saying that it’s a good team…..

replacing shahadat by Razzak has surely made the team a little weaker.
For how long will the politics penetreate? Where is the end of it?
The only reason of Razzaks inclusion is because he is from Ali Azgar Lobby`s district.
This may increase some vote for him but will surely cause harm for the country.

Just curious: What has Nafees Iqbal been upto? Why didnt he deserve a place in the team?

(I havent been following the posts past few days, so can someone please shed some light to me on NI v Tushar Imran?)

I would have included Tushar instead of Alok. Should have given Tushar a chance for his performance in domestic games and A Team matches.

Where is spitty? he must he dancing on roof like crazy because JO is not playing. I would actually replace Rajjak with Rana. As surprising it as it might sound to those who know me, in this team I've more problem with rajjak than alok. alok at least had a 50 recently (even though against a weak team), rajjak has nothing since the Asia cup to deserve a place in the team.

Here I am (http://banglacricket.com/alochona/showpost.php?p=301254&postcount=12) :)

Razzak isn't a great choice, but he was going to be selected anyway. I'd pick Shahadat over both Razzak and Rana. Neither Rana or Razzak can turn the match in our favor with their batting ability and playing 3 pacers would be a good idea, since there's 20 overs of field restriction and it increases bowling option for the final overs. India has been playing 3 seamers in ODIs for last few home serieses, and their pitch/conditions are similar to ours.

I don't understand dropping Shahadat. Rajjak was ineffective in the 2nd test, and on the same wicket I don;t see what he is going to get done in 10 overs. With Ash, Rajin and Alok all provioding spin, 3 pacers in ODI should be standard.
Too bad about JO. WHoever opens - Rajin and Nafees presumably - need to make sure we don't miss his solid 25 contribution in 6 overs.

Did something happen to him??

commentators said alok was taken out of the stadium just before the match...?? hit on the mouth by a ball...
