View Full Version : What's ICC's plan with Umpire Decisions?

Do ICC appoint fewer matches to umpires based on the number of bad decisions? Do ICC review the wickets and count the bad decisions of umpires to rate umpire?
I doubt it.

It's an interesting point. I'd suggest that the ICC are reviewing ratios of bad to good decisions and grading umpires based on that. The problem is, are there enough international umpires to go around? The only decent umpires at the moment are Simon Taufel (who never gets to umpire in OZ games as he's an OZ) and Aleem Dar, who has taken flak for poor decisions recently. Who else is there?
Bucknor - the Indians hate him
Koertzen - the Paks and Windians hate him
Harper - everyone hates him
Hair - everyone hates him
Umpiring numbers have been dropping over the past few years. Nobody wants to do the job. It's time to eliminate umpires altogether and move to an NFL-type system where a third umpire can adjudicate on everything. Just get rid of the umps on the field who make more mistakes than not.
