View Full Version : Why should we blame our players rather than BCB management and selection !

We have started jumping, enjoying and giving useless comments after puting a good fight in the first test agains Australia. That was not Australia's natural performance and they were just trying to adjust with the weather and condition in Bangladesh. When they have adjusted themselves in Bangladeshi condition they have come back strongly and showed the far distance between Australia and Bangladesh cricket team. We have to realise that we are not strong enough to beat Australia and even we have beaten them last year which was co-incident.

Why our players can't perform well and scores runs consistently ??? Because they don't play many first class cricket and they don't have match practice in a good sporting wicket. All our pitches are flat and low bouncy wicket. The Bangladeshi players will be strugling more when they will go play in Aus, England or South Africa for tour match.

Are these not the faults of BCB team mangaement who just don't care about making good sporting wicket in Bangladesh and arranging more first classs cricket ( atleast three ) in a year ?? They are just puting money in their pocket like thieves !!!!

At the end I would like to say that our players are working hard for good result but they have to play more first class cricket before playing the international matches.

Thanks
Arafath

Didn't our players play 1st class domestic cricket this year?

With sporting wicket and lots of 1st class matches would you be able to stop ash from making those rash shot? We don't get to play that much international cricket. Whenever a team agrees for a tour we have to readily accept it. If that is the case then in the middle of the cricket season these players has to be pulled for conditioning and training and get prepared for the tour (home or away). What is your suggestion? play 1st class in the mansoon season?

About the pitch, without bouncy wicket the way aftab (3rd ODI), rajin (2nd ODI) got out, with bouncy pitches all of them would get out with less runs on board. If India can have these kind of pitches and survive then why not us? It is our players fault, period; for not applying what they are being told by the coaches and management. "Top order collapse" is getting an everyday scenario. Now it is affecting the tail as well.

We are just arranging one first class cricket league in a year in the bad flat and slow pitches . Garmeen phone cricket league, Corporate cricket league are not considered as first class cricket. We have to play in good sporting wicket with true bounce not just slow and low bounce where the bowl comes to the bat very late. India is also struggling when they go to play out side of India. We should think about ourselves not Inida.

Atleast India is not struggling at home. I get your point though... we really need better wickets than this but our batsman have to take the responsibility... australia did bat in that pitch on the second innings and scored those runs in 22 overs... didn't they?? I guess players like Rajin or Ash applied themselves too much and brought their own downfall.... ash wasn't playing his natural game and it was so obvious... if he was playing his natural shots, the ball he got out would be out of the ground... instead he kept defending and always on two minds when playing shots...

Pitch: We can make sporty pitch with grass and all that but the amount of cricket played during domestic season does not give enough time in between games for the pitch to retain/regain its sportiness. Non the less I think BCB can prepare sportier wickets that what they did this serise.
Player: There is no hunger in them. They are happy to beat Kenya and Zim and walk around feeling like Aussies of the east. And when we have one-off win against the big teams they are in the heaven. Their focus of improving BD cricket and take it to a respective stage just gets derailed.
BCB: Many selection hickups; lack of inspiring leadership; band-aid type approach rather than long-term plan for improvement; corruption is part of everything in our country so it is given.

What is Ash's natural game? Is it "wam-bam thank you mam" ? Do we need that? He can only play either at a strike rate of 85%+ or 40% less. Is that a sign of a good player? Our reliance on him is like putting all your life savings on a lottery.

Agree with you on our top order and specialist batsman. They spend most of their time in practicing batting, so why should they play wrong shots at wrong time? However, to see our tail-enders perform better with the bat, we not only need to improve our pitch conditions, but also the quality of our domestic cricket, because that is the only place where our tail-enders get to practice their batting. My logic behind this is that when our tail-enders face similar type of bowling (Sri Lanka) or face too many bad balls (Zimbabwe, Kenya) like in domestic cricket, they can utilize those balls perfectly, and hence, our tail-enders perform WITH THE BAT. But when they face bowling of a higher quality standard, which they're not used to facing, they fail to perform.
