June 10, 2006, 12:23 PM
Here goes Laxman. Bye bye!
Good hundred by Sehwag. COngratulations!

June 10, 2006, 12:27 PM
Laxman is having a forgettable series in WI. His place in the test team is really under question.

June 10, 2006, 12:38 PM
thought shewag would score his hundred before lunch. he was dropped by gayle but someone should get him quick

June 10, 2006, 01:07 PM
Indi cruising fine & maintaining a very good run rate. WI already on the backfoot.

India 202/2 (42.1 ov)

June 10, 2006, 01:17 PM
At last India is playing the way they should be playing ..I think the 4th day on the last test match changed the momentum ..I hope they keep it and bat WI out of this test ..a score of 500+ should bat them out .But it is a looong way to go .Good start though !!

India in trouble ...have they done enough ??? .Need one good paternship from here on

June 10, 2006, 05:52 PM
west indies is in trouble

June 11, 2006, 01:35 AM
India batted well on the 1st Day,they would have got to 400 had Sehwag been there a little longer.Sorry for him that he missed out the 200.If they can get 500,it will be a good total. But I still have some doubts whether India can bowl out WI twice.Let's see.

June 11, 2006, 02:19 AM
Impressed with the indian performance on the first day... atleast by looking at the scoreboard

June 11, 2006, 10:23 AM

i think 700 will be the 1st innings score for india unless west indies bowls out India

June 11, 2006, 10:53 AM
India 479/4 (110.2 ov)

Batsmen R B 4s 6s SR
M Kaif (rhb) 86 137 9 0 62.77 striker
R Dravid (rhb) 143 228 16 0 62.71 non-striker

June 11, 2006, 11:03 AM
Rahul Dravid got out at last on 146.
At Lunch break:
India: 485/5 (114.0 Ovs)
M Kaif* 89(152)
M Dhoni 0(1)

India should declare at around 530 if they can reach it.Bowling out WI twice holds the key.Pitch looks like a batting paradise.

June 11, 2006, 12:22 PM
Bad light stopped the play.from cricinfo

India have gone off for badlight! At the start of the over the groundsmen were ready with their covers, ready to invade the arena when the rains arrive. Meanwhile in the middle, the umpires had a chat, offered the light to the batsman and surprisingly, they accepted it! Dravid, was on the massage table, in the dressing room and looked a bit surprised that his batsmen have taken the light. At least that's how I read his body language, don't hang me if that was not the case! But its still a surprising decision to come off. Its not raining yet, admittedly its overcast, a shower might come soon but its still not raining and it was in India's interest to pile on the runs.

Now the umpires are having a long chat with the groundsmen, eyes fixed at the skies. Taufel gets his light meter out, keeps checking the readings. Still no rain, but no play either and that as they say is that.

June 11, 2006, 12:27 PM
Play has resumed.Dhoni is out and Pathan is the new batsman.
India: 520/6 (126.0 Ovs)
India should get some quick runs and then declare.

June 11, 2006, 01:00 PM
pathan and kaif are scoring at a slow rate. india still wants to score few more runs. and they are not going to attack. i think they want 700+

June 11, 2006, 01:15 PM
I think it will be better if India gets all out, soon. They are wasting time and have no intention of declaring.

June 11, 2006, 02:20 PM
Atlast they have declared thier innings. Now its upto lara, chanderpaul, sarwan and gayle to stay in the game

June 11, 2006, 03:22 PM
2 wickets in 2 balls, west indies is in trouble

June 11, 2006, 03:28 PM
Only an extraordinary innings from Lara can pull WI out of trouble ...and Lara is very capable of that .

India needs to go flat out and nail WI ...get VRV singh from the other end ..Pathan has lost the sting .

June 11, 2006, 03:44 PM
Lara Gone ..so is WI (atleast for the 1st Innings ) ..the Momentum has shifted for good ( am I repeating myslef ..)

June 11, 2006, 03:45 PM
Lara's gone for 7 by Kumble.
Either Gayle's or Chander's wkt today will be a bonus for India.
West Indies: 55/3 (15.4 Ovs)

June 11, 2006, 03:54 PM
west indies will definitly loose this match, dissapointed with their effort. and lara is not making any scores

June 12, 2006, 02:30 AM
1st Inngs:
India 588/8 declared
West Indies 65/3 (25.0 ov)
West Indies need 389 to avoid follow on.

Highlights of 2nd Test .
1st Day (http://www.tnlcricket.com/highlights6.html)
2nd Day (http://www.tnlcricket.com/highlights7.html)

June 12, 2006, 07:37 AM
Lara is not that fast he once used to be and thats why he is getting LBW more often

June 12, 2006, 09:28 AM
At the and of the day... (i mean 5th day) it will be another draw. India doesn't have the match winng strike bowler for a Test match who can can change the match by himself.

June 12, 2006, 10:06 AM
WI loses 2 quick wkts.
Score now is West Indies: 106/5 (38.5 Ovs)
Yes , winning strike bowlers are not there for India if the conditions don't favour them.Kumble and Harbhajan are good in favourable conditions, they definitely need bowlers like say Kapil Dev to win in alien conditions.
India may wrap up Windies 1st inngs soon and may enforce follow-on but it's still a tall task to get them all out in 2nd Inngs.Maybe the pressure of runs and time can go against them.

June 12, 2006, 10:09 AM
The "elite" are gone ..Time to wrap the lower order as quickly as possible and target the "elite" again ..Go India Go .

June 12, 2006, 11:38 AM
third day of the match and don't think west indies will be able to get a draw from here. it was a bad toss to loose.

June 12, 2006, 12:27 PM
For India, its not the 'elite' to worry about its the lower-end and tail-end to worry about.

June 12, 2006, 01:55 PM
Shewag helped india to scrap up the tail. 3 for 33 in 10 overs. WI 215 all out. Follow-on coming.

June 12, 2006, 02:01 PM
india have got WI by the neck, unless lara comes up with another World record like 450, this is over. indian 2nd innings in the 1st test have changed the momentum to india.

June 12, 2006, 02:04 PM
India should take the match one session at a time ..they should get atleast 2 wickets by the end of the day today ..and hope that rain and Lara do not spoil the party ......

I will make it 3 wickets :-)

June 12, 2006, 02:16 PM
Gayle out in the 2nd Innings for 3 runs by Pathan.
West Indies: 215, 7/1 (1.0 Ovs), Follow On
Lara has come instead of Sarwan for 1st down.

June 12, 2006, 08:23 PM
its a good sign. lara should always bat at no. 3 position.

June 13, 2006, 01:14 AM
I am very much disappointed by the awful batting of WI's Batsman, When India Bat, the pitch behave like a batting paradise----on the other way when WI bat, the pitch behave like a mine field. If WI continues their horrible batting, India will definitely win the test series--no doubt. It is very much hard to believe that the same side got a 4-1 ODI series victory against India. Plz Lara, do something....

June 13, 2006, 04:33 AM
^ There's a proverb ..nacchte na janle uthan tera.India would not have batted the way WI did in their 1st innings. They would not have been in the position as WI are now,had India batted first. On the contrary India would have got a lead of atleast 100-150 runs.Their batting has always been strong, occassionally though it fails.:) But their bowling lacks some match winning pacers. It will not be easy to get all those remaining 9 wkts.As Lara said India will have to earn them.

That 4-1 could have been 2-3 easily, the blame squarely goes to India. But WI certainly lost the momentum they gained in ODI's.

About India winning the series, well Cricket is a funny game ,you never know.

June 13, 2006, 09:30 AM
India will win if the weather permits :-(

They have been a bit unlucky in the first test ...but I am afraid this might be disastrous for India ..hope India gets atleast 100 overs before the match ends ..I guess it should be good enough to wrap the WI ...

June 13, 2006, 10:23 AM
looks like a session already been lost.

June 13, 2006, 10:42 AM
Update: 15:20 GMT: Just when the things seem to be clearing, we have been hit again by another passing shower.

al Furqaan
June 13, 2006, 11:45 AM
lara seems to be taking batting tips from ashraful score big, real big, followed by 7 or 8 straight single digit scores

June 13, 2006, 12:01 PM
Update: 16:40 GMT: It has stopped raining, but the conditions are bit gloomy, looks like there might not be any play for the next hour.

June 13, 2006, 12:49 PM
Update: 17:40 GMT: The conditions have still not improved, it is unlikely that there will be any play today.

Unlucky India ...will be greatly difficult for India .........:(:(

June 13, 2006, 02:07 PM
Match has been called off for the 4th day,not a single over has been bowled.India has been very unlucky with rain.In 2004-05 they lost the home series 1-2 to australia. They were in a winning position in the chennai test and the series could have ended 2-2 but rain god had other ideas. It will be a hard task to get all the remaining 9 wkts on the final day tomorrow against WI.

June 13, 2006, 05:07 PM
This is kind of funny. Luck is not with India :)

June 13, 2006, 05:44 PM
Haha rain has delayed the play...

Allah megh dey pani dey :)

I hope heavy rain can save WI from a heavy defeat.

June 13, 2006, 06:06 PM
105 overs might be played tomorrow, and it will be sufficient to bowl out windies if Lara doesn't bat well. Lara has to bat out 3 sessions to secure the draw.

June 14, 2006, 09:02 AM
Windies are 3 down now. huge task on Lara's shoulder. only rain with Lara's great innings could save windies from loosing which is unlikely to happen

June 14, 2006, 09:25 AM
West Indies: 68/3 (30.3 Ovs)
B Lara* 33(94)
S Chanderpaul 3(11)
very crucial patnership going on.If chander gets out,the floodgates will open, then even Lara's big inngs can't save ; only rain can save WI.If this 2 can take it upto tea ,WI can draw the match.

June 14, 2006, 09:30 AM
I am more worried abt Chanderpaul ..he has been such a major irritant to India .Weather remaining good , India should (hope) wrap the innings ..

June 14, 2006, 09:48 AM
lara is in the crease. he needs to bat all 3 sessions to secure a draw

June 14, 2006, 12:38 PM
46 overs to go
chander paul gone. only bravo and ramdin to come. lara has a lot to do in this match

June 14, 2006, 01:27 PM
Yesterday the Weather
Today Lara

Both Unstoppable forces ..........

Hats off to Lara

June 14, 2006, 01:32 PM
Congrats to Lara !! a match savings inngs.Match drawn.

June 14, 2006, 02:12 PM
27 overs to go. come on windies

June 14, 2006, 02:19 PM
Lara is doing great! 25+ overs to go, not long to go now :D

June 14, 2006, 02:38 PM
well done Lara. 22 overs to go. 132 balls. it won't be too dificult

June 14, 2006, 02:49 PM
Lara gone.

June 14, 2006, 02:50 PM
what a blow. and again LBW. 18.5 overs to go. bravo and ramdin should bat carefully

<table bgcolor="#eeeeee" border="0" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0" width="605"><tbody><tr valign="top"><td colspan="2">Replays show, the ball struck him outside the line of the off stump. June 14, 2006, 02:58 PM
asad rauf is taking his revenge?

Not exactly. He is just showing his incompetence.
In both cases, he just did the opposite of what he should have done.

June 14, 2006, 03:01 PM
15 overs left. Mohammad not in the lineup. tense time for West Indies. bradshaw the last line of defense left. Lets go WI.

June 14, 2006, 03:06 PM
in 1st test windies got 2 bad decisions at a crucial moment and now today.

June 14, 2006, 03:07 PM
Kumble is doing his best to take wickets. But only 13 overs are left. So draw is the favourite.

June 14, 2006, 03:16 PM
Sreeram Veera commentary:

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=5 width=605 bgColor=#eeeeee border=0><TBODY><TR vAlign=top><TD align=right width=30>104.2</TD><TD>Kumble to Bravo, SIX, ripped across on the middle and leg, straigtening after pitching, pushed to short-leg </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
I wonder how one can score a SIX simply by pushing to the short-leg!!

June 14, 2006, 03:19 PM
Bravo is out

June 14, 2006, 03:23 PM
stupid umpire gave lara lbw. now windies are loosing. 11 overs to go. another nailbiting test

9 more overs to. if west indies could survive kumble

June 14, 2006, 03:32 PM
1st, with massive power one can simply push at a fast bowler and connect it as a six. However, on kumble's ball, I have no idea.

2nd, 100+ overs gone and WI still standing. Lara is the man.

3rd, its not over yet. 8 overs left 4 wickets to go. One more and the tail is exposed like the last match. Fazal's analysis is becoming partially true. It may be a draw but not boring.

June 14, 2006, 03:34 PM
cricinfo is confusing me, how many overs are actaully left.

cricinfo now corrected that

104.2 Kumble to Bravo, SIX, Bravo decides to break free! tossed up outside the off stump, Bravo danced down the track and lofted it over long-off... !

June 14, 2006, 03:39 PM
113 over gone 6 overs left.

June 14, 2006, 03:41 PM
cricinfo showing 113 gone and 4 overs left.

what a nailbiting test once again

June 14, 2006, 03:44 PM
May be they are going by time. 20 mins left.

June 14, 2006, 03:51 PM
cricinfo showing 1.4 overs left and also 15 minits.

June 14, 2006, 03:58 PM
Still going on.

June 14, 2006, 03:59 PM
One more gone.Bradshaw is out.

June 14, 2006, 03:59 PM
Bradshaw out.

June 14, 2006, 04:06 PM
It is over. Draw.

June 14, 2006, 05:02 PM
Ameen! .

June 14, 2006, 05:56 PM
Great comeback by WI, all thanks to Lara.

June 14, 2006, 07:13 PM
Great comeback by WI, all thanks to Lara.

Not so great comeback I think, but Congrats to Lara and Rain (Bad Light also), Both play well.:)

June 15, 2006, 02:49 AM
India's bad luck continues. Indian players will realize it more in the next test coz Lara has recovered his lost form. Now India can take some tips from the SA as they often experience this type of situations(mostly in the WC).
