Good to see the consistency by BD top order particularly Mehrab Jr.

Kopali made a century!!! OMG, he will be getting another chance to National team by virtue of this century and definitely show his 'Pora Kopal' talent for BD national team:( .

Congrates to Mehrab Jr. and kapali.
Mehrab Jr. is a makeshift opener. against quality attack i am not sure if he can stick it out. But certainly he can claim the a spot in the middle order when the ball is not swinging that much.

Scorecard analysis:
307/6. 5th wicket partnership of 176. assuming bd didn't lose the sixth wicket at the end of the day, they were 126/4? Then no other significant partnership was there.

These boys need to work on that. 400+ would be good enough to get opponent follow-on.

Good to see that this time another two players are showing their merit with the bat.
Happy for Mehrab Jr. beacuse he is one of the next generation of players knocking the door.

Also Happy for Alok. If he continues to produce with the team-a, then there will be less complain from the fans next time he is selected in the national team.

Nafis Iqbal is a concern. When was the last time he scored some run?
Too bad... I was really high on him when he first came in the national team.

Nazmus Sadat is the man to watch. He is showing some consistanecy. He also palyed very well on the NCL. I hope he does not get thrust into the senior team too soon.

Nazmus Sadat could be a one day specialist some day. Although nothing should be said on this now as it would be too early.

Mehrab should also be a good one day bowler with his off spin. His batting is superb both for one day and tests. Saquib and Mehrab were the two players to watch, I believed. Hopefully Saquib will show his mettle in this tour inshAllah. However, I'd like to hope Tushar would use Mehrab for bowling as well (although his bowling would suit one dayers with off spin). This guy did good in Australia with his bowling as well. Who knows Tushar might use both Mehrab and himself as occassional spinners in the one dayers to come. Good luck.

No matter what you guys say.... I am always happy with ANY of our players who scores a 100 in A-team match... whether it is Kapali or Tushar or Hannan or anyone!

IMO... the positives of such knocks from players we dislike are:

1) It surely helps to increase the pool of available BD players.
2) A good number of backup players is always useful.
3) It will also increase competition between the national team candidates which is bound to effect their commitment in the long run when they are in the National side.
4) A strong A-team surely helps to improve the country's cricketing image.

Instead of the A team I wish we could send the entire under 19 team of last year as the A team. The competition is not that strong. Only good thing these boys are getting at, is the experience of traveling (Food habits in foreign nation, weather, hostile fans environment lol). If my wish was true, these under 19 boys could give our national team and the A team run for their money in 3 match series.

Good on Zimbabwe A for getting past 250. If they could get to 300 - 320 (although unlikely with only 2 wickets in hand), I think we would be in for a good finish.

At the moment I think they are a good 50 runs short of "having a chance". Not sure who is the not out batsmen, but if Matsikinyeri or Mufambisi is still out there, who knows what will happen tomorrow.

if you take enamul out...then the sides are fairly even...tho we still hold the edge cuz one of our batsman, however crappy internationally, will score a hundred.

there is a huge mental block all of our batsman have...and that is merely being content with a score circa 100.

our bats, seem to think that by scoring 100 they are done with the job...the only exception to this was ash's 158* where he really wanted to keep the strike, avoid the FO, and score however many runs he could. almost everyone else, scores a 100 and departs before 200. we need 200 badly, because that is a sign of true class.

i wonder what the conversion rates are for converting 100s to 200s for guys like lara, SRT, dravid, ponting, and others. my guess is its not very high, but our boys should begin to start scoring doubles even if only once in a blue moon.

Before you talk about converting 100 into 200, we should focus at converting a start into 50 and a fifty into 100. Lets start that with Basher.

bashar is bashar...and in fact, he is seemingly picking up his consistancy or at least his leadership role finally. check the new front page article. tho the change in bashar's game may not neccessarily be noted in his averages (but thus far his ODI stats have improved).

in terms of starts (lets define that as reaching 20), then i think our batsman don't have a huge problem in reaching 50...yes you are correct their converion of 50s into 100s is quite poor.

Here is the report from DS after 2nd day of the match:

Hosts Zimbabwe A thrived on a couple of half-centuries from Stuart Matsikenyeri and Kasteni as they closed the second day of the second four-day match against Bangladesh A on a better note at the Mutare Sports Club ground yesterday.

The Zimbabwean second-string side batted out two sessions to reach 251 for 8 at stumps.

Test cap Matsikenyeri struck 61 while Kasteni scored 52. Mufambisi also contributed 44 runs.

Left-arm spinner Enamul Haque continued his brilliant form, picking up three wickets for 60. Paceman Mohammad Sharif picked two wickets for the visitors.
Earlier, Bangladesh A ended their first innings on 380 runs, after resuming the day on 307 for 6.

Tigercricket is not saying anything about the state of the match. Bangladesh A played 65.3 overs and required 4-5 over to dismiss Zim A's remaining two wicket. So, about 20 overs should be still played in the third day.

The bangladeshi bowling was indisciplined.
In the first innings they gave away 35 runs (hasibul+mahbubul=17)
And in the second innings they gave away 16runs in only 15 over !!!!
On the other hand zimbabwe gave away only 12 and 8 runs in both innings!:(

Tigers_eye
June 26, 2006, 10:45 AM
Bangladeshi bowlers were not indisciplined. 10 out 16 runs came from byes. I think they made over throws which went for 4's. Or the wicket keeper could not collect the ball which went for 4. So it is the fielding that should be questioned.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe bowlers did exceptionally well on this extra department. Hats of to them. but I guess they lack the penetration which would get them the wickets.

Great job so far for BD A boys...though not sure about our pace attack. There were few promises when McInnes was there and also with Grameen Pace hunt, but not sure lately if there are new findings.
I heard a player agree to play agnst Bd(Sean Willaims) and also Kevin Curran trying to brink back more players..ah well i guess we are unlucky again in upcoming ODIs'

It appears that Masakadza hits a ton to draw the match. But why Tigercricket is not updating the match?

A draw at the end? Too bad! My impression was that our age group team was capable of beating this ZIM A team. Hands down BD A (except Mehrab and Enamul).

I think its not that bad of a performance by BD-A. There was some very good individual perfomance from few players who are going to be in the national team pretty soon. That what I am looking for from this series. I don't have a proble with a few draws here and there as long as key players perform.

Can't believe it...it was our games but our pacers wasted it....i don't get it why they are not getting good pacers in A team...if we don't create backup when we will create??

Scoring 350 runs in the fourth innings is a tremendous effort. Hats off to Zim-A. On the other hand, it exposes a weaknes in BD-A team. We do not have a strike bowler except for EHJ. When he failed to impress the Zimbabwe batsmen the others looked even more ordinary.

Both the mathces show that we do lack very badly in pace dpartment. Both the new bowlers were poor. I am worried who are the backups if Mash or Rajib is injured.

there r enough backups. rasel, nazmul, tapash r good enough to replace injerd pacers.

After the first match here was the comment from ZIM A coach (source: cricinfo):
"He bowls a lot of overs and wears out the batsmen. Our guys are not used to facing left-arm spin for long spells and he took advantage. We are working on how to counter him. The guys will get better and better."
In the second match they must have figured him out. Lets see how Enamul figures that out in the third match.
