Many feel Shane Warne is the gretest spinner ever, i disagree alfred 'tich' freeman was better. He was a legspinner who played between 1914 to 1936. Nowadays it is a feat to take 100 wickets in a season and an even bigger accomplishment to take 1000 first class wickets, freeman averaged nearly 200 wickets a season, and took 3776 wickets with a career average of 18.42, and eight years from 1928 to 1935, he took 2125 wickets. He is the only man to take 300 wickets in a season and to take all 10 in an innings three times. (1929 v lancashire, 1930 v essex, 1931 v lancashire). These statistics can't ust be down to uncovered wickets, they are mainly down to the brilliant bowling of Freeman.

I respectfully disagree. I think Elvis's Nan is even better.
Atleast in picture it looks better....

warne .. no question about that..
back in those days u didnt hv all these professionalism, media pressure, tough tour schedules, intense spotlight etc etc..

these days, for a player to play consistantly exceptional over and over again for years is a vindication of his abilities. those players back in the days were good, no question about that. but they might hv played against only a handful no of players over thier career, as the game was restricted to elite limited and gong.

but these days, players play all around the world, with different climate and conditions every time. one week u might be in England, followed by a tour to Bangladesh and going to West Indies the very next series..

i rate warne or any modern day players much higher.

Well, as his 12 tests show, the MCC selectors certainly disagreed with you.

I wouldnt put Freeman in the same category as Underwood or Mailey, let alone Warne.
