This is only the first day. SA has a lineup who can turnaround just like that. However, the match is in SL. So by the time they turnaround it will be ODI triseries. I love it cause India will be on the receiving end. Way to go SL. Villiers should shut his mouth and concentrate more on the game. Funny how he lost his wicket to the man he bashed before the match.

Kumar and Mahela are two of my favourite batsmen. these two are a pleasure to watch when they are in song together. i think they deserve a lot more fuss than they usually get.

yeah..agree witchu man..they failing to get a break-thru Sanga and Jayawadene are taking the game away from S.A...its in Games like these that you really miss Kallis and Pollock who would have added a few runs and also may have been useful with the ball aswell....there is still the second innings but the Muri factor will always haunt then cuz they will try to be a bit more cautious and spend a bit more time on the field...the longer they stay on the field, the older the ball gets and the more dangerous Muri becomes..

Sri Lanka 320/2 (81.0 ov) at Tea Day 2 (Sri Lanka lead by 151 runs with 8 wickets remaining )

How neck to neck Kumara and Mahela are going on ! Kumara - 147* and Mahela 145*
Interesting!! SA is going to die.

Kumara & mahela broke 3rd wicket partnership which was previously held by Johns & crow against Sri Lanka. This is also the second highest partnership for any wicket in test cricket.

3rd 467 AH Jones (http://uk.cricinfo.com/newzealand/content/player/37491.html) & MD Crowe (http://uk.cricinfo.com/newzealand/content/player/36622.html) New Zealand v Sri Lanka Wellington (http://uk.cricinfo.com/newzealand/content/ground/58895.html) 1990/91 (http://uk.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/1990-91/SL_IN_NZ/SL_NZ_T1_31JAN-04FEB1991.html)

I hate to face these two in the champions trophy qualifing. I'd rather take my chances and beat WI and have Lara retired and we move on to the real games.

For this game, SL should retire these two batsmen and let Dilshan Maharoof take charge tomorrow.

Jayawardane and Sangarkara two of the most prolific and gifted batsmen lanka produced after their world cup truimph. They are improving day by day and taking lanka to that glorious status again.
Sometimes, I wish we had batsmen like these two.

Any one would do. No need of two at the moment.

congrats to mahela for such an epic innings..

to hold the world record..u should be a great player...like Lara
mahela is good..but not great yet..

Sovik
July 29, 2006, 06:35 AM
what happened to south africa. 1st they were all out at 169 then that epic partnership by kumara & mahela. i feel sorry for kumara not getting his tripple hundred. if he got tripple then it might have been more interesting 2 batsmen going for a record in a single match

Ak
July 29, 2006, 07:45 AM
Ohhh well he didnt get the record but atleast he's finally achieving his true potential. This guy has the talent to be 1 of the best in the world and I mean in the same bracket as Lara and Tendulkar so I guess this great innings from Mahela may be the start of greater things to come from him!

Sovik
July 29, 2006, 08:31 AM
jayasuriya has a tripple century but he never was in the same bracket as Lara and sachin & same goes for hayden. mahela is a good batsman but he is not a cricket great like lara & sachin

Well deserved win for SL. With the SA reenforcements, the last match can be an exciting though I doubt it.

Since nineties, lankans are improving tremendously. Though they lost few good cricketers after the great world cup win, and I am really amazed how they produced few cricketers to enclose that gap. They went down in ranking, but they are progressing day by day.

Wel played SA but another Michelle-Phieffer from Murali he's just too good for everyone else really. Really he's a class above anyone else in cricket! Though De Villies played him wel like he did in the 1st Test Murali's still too good!

Sovik

murali is the greatest. he is tood good for any batsman in the world.

we shld forget abt the bangladesh series.

we are having 2 great series beside the bd one. lets concentrate on that.wats the point of watchin bd. they are playin worse then ever

can't compare bd vs zim with any other series.

Ak
August 5, 2006, 04:18 AM
Ntini is bowling brilliantly - SL are all over the place. The two youngsters Kapugedra and Prasanna Jayawardene pulled it back but still they are struggling. Maybe Murali has to conjur up his magic with the bat and ball!!!

Sovik
August 5, 2006, 05:51 AM
vaas and mahroof is batting well. its only the new ball that did the damages. south africa will need a big lead if they want to win this match. cause murali will be simply unplayable from day 3

Miraz

Vaas and Mahroof build the innings after middle order collapse.

Srilnka 273/7, 83 run partnership between Vaas and Maharoof

Sovik
August 5, 2006, 07:02 AM
finally they got mahroof, but the damages have been done. now murali will be bowling on third day and will take another 5+ wickets. he is simply awsome, unplayable

Ganesh

sri lanka is winning this match too. murali is truly awsome

Xavier

sri lanka is winning this match too.

...I would add: as long as Mahela Jayawardene is still at the crease!
90 runs required and 5 wickets left, some surprise could be possible (though Prasanna Jayawardene, Vaas and Maharoof can score runs too).
