This is the table now for the European Championships, Division One:

Table

P W T NR L Pts NRR
Ireland 2 2 0 0 0 4 +1.84
Netherlands 1 1 0 0 0 2 +2.80
Denmark 1 0 0 0 1 0 -1.98
Scotland 1 0 0 0 1 0 -1.70
Italy 1 0 0 0 1 0 -2.80

I guess the winner should be Ireland, or maybe Netherlands... that beat Italy by 140 runs (:( ), that says much about our level at cricket, as you think that Sri Lanka made ODI world record score against Netherlands few days ago!

Cricket is slowly growing in Italy, but only because asian immigrants are starting to play it here and form some teams!
The italian national team has five italians and six immigrants (obviously the best players!). Anyway... we do exist!

As usual no media coverage in Italy, also cricinfo is not reporting about it, so I didn't even know it was played!

Who knows... maybe sometimes in the future there'll be an Italy v Bangladesh one day match!:D

i was quite oblivious that Europe has a such a good league in cricket. 13 teams, if i hv counted them right. thats great !! and as with everything european, it looks very professional, structured and organised.

i bet if Europe can keep it up, they will hv a good team or two in the future.
best of luck Europe.

One who scores 100 to Australia can easily make 200 to Italy! ;)

btw at the time we are being hammered by Ireland:
http://www.cricketeurope4.net/LIVE/4/live.shtml
79 all out!:umm:
and Joyce brothers are not even playing!

btw yesterday Scotland beat Holland scoring 12 runs on last over!
(de Leede was the "dutch Mortaza"...)

Wow !!! Ireland was dominating in each and every match (even in the match agains Holland that was abandoned). BCCB probably should invite them for a tour.

not a bad idea. they could play with our development squad or u-19 boys or even against some club teams. it would certainly help them.

Xavier, I just want to say that you're really a gentleman, because cricket's a game of elite people, a game for the intelligent and smart people. Not for the hooligans or ruffians. Seeing your passion and the increasing obsession for cricket, I just wish if there were more gentlemen like you in this world, and I really do hope that I see Italy atleast qualify to the Cricket World Cup before my demise.:)

That's where violence (i.e. Zidane's headbutt) comes in.. too spice things up for footy fans.

I hope and I'm pretty sure that's not gonna happen :)

Thanks mate, I'm not really a gentleman... I still like football but I'm bored of what the game is now: fanatism, business, corruption...
I get worried sometimes by my "cricket obsession" (gonna see a "cricketologist"! )
but it's really a pleasant pastime, with lot to know and learn for a "new" fan!

About Italy at the world cup... no way until there is not any serious development plan, also considering that there must be some italian players in the national team! And our best ever player Joe Scuderi (italo-australian) just retired from the game, he also played county cricket for Lancashire!

I guess one day I'll take the chance to watch an italian league game, but I know the level is very low so I guess it's quite boring!:p

Well... I don't think it's the case of the italian league, I've checked the scores and most of the times they don't even reach 100 runs (in a 50 over match!)...
