His batting average drops to 21.42 from 35.42 if we take out matches against Kenya and Zimbabwe. He averages 55.5 against Kenya and Zimbabwe

Still better than most of our other batsmen though, who can't score against any opposition.

its still a good thing man.. that goes to shows that atleast he is performing against the teams which is more or less with our par. and he can take that confidence to play good against the big boys.. just as an example, i believe his century against Australia in the first test is the sign of such confidence.

all he needs to do is to concentrate on his initial period. most importantly, he seems to be able to carry on his innings to a big score once he gets some start, just unlike our other players..

im sure he have a very bright future awaits him.

Similar thing also applies for Aftab. His average drops to 17 from 25, if we take out matches against Zimbabwe and Kenya.

Interestingly, Ashraful's average slightly increase if we take out matches against Kenya/Zimbabwe/Hong Kong. Then he averages 19.81 instead of 19.44

Its certainly pathetic that we dont have a single player in the squad who has an average of 40 plus in ODIs. Certainly, if we had one, he wouldve been the world star but I am just thinking with players averaging around 20 ish... an expected 50 over total for Bangladesh team is always scary indeed...

though nafees is good... if u have average 25 against other big countries and u r a newcomer and atop of it u r an opener of a 10th test playing country....

u r cool man!

we r proud of u nafees

Exactly...Nafees is scoring consistently and keeping his head straight.Within a very short time he has learned to take the responsibility of our vulnarable batting order, a thing which JO can't probably learn even after playing for 100 years(though it certainly looks like our selectors will try to put JO for this duration, luckily he will die before that.Come on, at least that will save our cricket)!

A good batsman should dominate lesser attacks. Runs are runs and if you are among runs all the time, regardless of the opposition, you tend to be among runs against all opposition. Nafees had good One day scores against Australia and Sl as well, the two big teams that he has faced along with England so far. Also, he is faring pretty well in tests. Sure he has a lot of room to improve but so far he is on the right track.

Interesting pieces of data. I guess Nafees is the best we have now in terms of consistency among the new generation batsmen. I am sure all fans appreciate it and hopefully we get to see some consistency from him against bigger oppositions as well. If only our aftabs and ashraful's were consistent, we would have been a much more consistent side. I dream of the day when we will have players of huge talent, using it and getting big scores consistently against all the teams in the world. in other words we need the talent of ashraful and aftab and the consistency bashar shows in Test matches put into one individual batter.

Nafees is a class batsman stated by Mark Waugh and Brendon Julian during the bangladesh and australia series on fox sports telecast. He is one of our best batsman after Bashar (probably even better). Yes he does have an average of 21 odd against strong teams but he had handful of few matches against them. The series against Australia was his undoing, his failures in all 3 games has resulted his current stats. Australia is a tough team and i believe nafees was unlucky for 1 decison which had a bat on instead he got lbw When you only played a few bad matches with 20 odd games your average will go down drastically. You cant make a judgement that he cant play agianst strong teams. Yes he can, he has the technique and tempartment to do so. Believe it or not alot batsman have a good average cuz of bangladesh and zimbabwe

forget minnows, big boys and consistency, i reckon thats how a players record should look like, at least for a beginner in BD.

mid 30 average on a team where except one, everybody's average looks like a malnutritioned kid, centuries in all form of the game, even NO's which is quite amazing given he is an opener, modest sr which hopes would only get better along with his confidence. u can actually show that stat with respect on the live telecasted match around the world, not like the one's of Ash and Gong.

Only fault i see , which i believe has resulted due to Golla companionship, is that he's got only 1 six in odi. now as a opener, that figure should hv bn much better.
hope time would also solve that, once he finds his own feat.
