I heard Canada has a very good cricket league which has atleast three divisions. There is a Bangladeshi team participating in the league this year for the first time. Can anyone shred a little light on the team and more info on the league. Just out of curiousity. Thanks.

I do not know about the Canadian League. But I played for several teams in a Chicaogo suburban league. This league actually is very competitve and provided team members for the US national team. Check it out in the website below.

Yes sadi, there's a team comprised of Bangalis in our local cricket league here... it's called The Toronto & District Cricket Association, which infact is the prime source of players who get called on to play for Canada internationally. The team you're talking of, is called Bangla CC, and they play in the 3rd division, which is where a newly registered team starts from. They are doing quite well this year, and have not lost any game so far this season. Bangla CC got players by the likes of Haleem Shah and Mafizur Rahman Munna, and look well on course to win the division this year, and earning the promotion to 2nd division for next season. Visit the website www.cricketstar.com (http://www.cricketstar.com) and follow the links on the right to know more about the different leagues in the Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area.

I myself play for a team in the 2nd division in the Etobicoke & District Cricket League.

By the way, it feels great to have posted something in this BC forum after a long long time. Count be back in the queue of regulars! :)

Well the 2006 Canada Cup is being held in Edmonton. The five teams are ON -A, AB, BC, MB and Quebec. More info here: http://www.canadiancricket.org/

Off-topic: Going down to the Toronto Cricket Club to catch the Canada vs Bermuda game this weekend. Finally some live ODI action - the last time was back in Bangladesh (Ind vs Pak, around 2001). Wanted to go to the Kenya matches, but most of them were on weekdays.
