Also, this probably explains why our Chacha was swinging it like crazy in the 99 world cup ;) (not that this is anything new)


Using angled-seam balls propelled into a wind tunnel, they found that the best swing took place at speeds of around 70 mph (112 kph).

The best swing comes after 80 mph. In a cricket field there is no wind tunnel.

Nice article though.

The best swing actually comes around 70 mph, and beyond that, it won't swing at all. However, at higher speeds (90 mph), the ball will start reverse swinging. Then again, you could also bowl at 80 mph and extract descent swing - it's all in the article posted above :)
