USA lost to Greece 101-95.

The superstars of NBA lost to Greece (who have zero players who play in NBA) in World Championship semifinals in Japan. This is their first loss as a team. Anthony, Wade, Lebron all played. Kobe was suppose to be watching this. Now USA have to qualify for 2008 Olympics at Venezuala.

Congratulations Greece!! Now they face Spain in the finals. Gasol and Co. who beat Argentina 75-74 in the other semi-finals. All four teams were undefeated coming into the semi finals. USA and Argentina will play tonight for the bronge medal.

These loses are no longer upset to me. The other nations are becoming that good.

What a loser... are they really that good that a team with LeBron, Wade and Anthony can't beat them? But then again, its only one game. If it was a best of five, I am sure USA would've come up at top.

They may not be as good as even Joe Johnson, Hinrich one on one, however, as a team they are that good. Just wait and see what Argentina does to the US team. USA can't buy a basket from outside the 3 point line. Their defense was pathetic. In two quarters Greece shot 76%. US was leading 33 to 21. When Lebron said, "They don't know what to do." That's a direct quote. Not only Greece knew what they were doing it was the Americans who can't shoot a lick and thought they already won the gold just by showing up for the tourney. Overconfidence is one of the key ingredients to get your rear handed to you.

These teams Greece, Spain, Argentina etc. they play as a team. Their synergy factor surpasses the individual talents and ability of the US team. Throwing a windmill dunk only gets a two point just as an easy layup. Showmanship may get more seat filled in the arenas but it does not have any affect on the final score.

Even without Gasol (injured), Spain dominated Greece 70-47. USA managed to beat Argentina to take the bronze.

Spain is the new World Champions!!! Contragulations. I demand a post from R_S since he lives in Spain.

"IT HAS BEGUN."

Last night NBA season began. Miami started its Title defense with the worst loss for Pat Riley ever. Chicago just finished of Miami in 3 Quarters. The bench was cleared eraly and often. 108 - 66. 42 point loss. :)

Chicago is for real. Let the east be aware. This includes King James and Pistons.

The second game was against Phoenix and Lakers. i watched the 1st Quarter of the game and thought the game was over. Phoenix scored 42 points in one quarter and had a double digit lead. This morning I find out the lost to the Kobe less Lakers??

Waiting for Dallas to bust open from the beginning. Go General, go!!

Only thing I am looking forward to is to see if Knicks can do even worse than they did last year. You never know with Knicks. Maybe they will make a new record this time. Go starbury.

Mavs are back on track. They have 3 game winning streak.

Miami is too old. Chicago is too young (experience). There is a new sheriff in the east. "The King".

Utah, Clips if they can stay healthy then they can challenge the supremacy of Spurs and Mavs in the west. Rockets and Lakers are in the second tier teams. Amare will be a beast next season.

It's about time they start winning some games. Too bad that Croshere and Ager are not making the 9 man rotation. Hopefully they wont be a bust !!

BTW, what a challenge for the Cow this sunday ? Two highest rated QB's playing each other. Hopefully It will be a ROMO special !! (Shopno dekhte dosh ki)

It is not a "shopno". I have predicted them to win this one in the NFL thread. Too many close calls for my Man Payton and Co. Their defense is allowing too many points. Dallas has a huge advantage in running game and defense.

Croshere is a hustler and i like who gives 110% on the court. But i think Avery has grown quite a bit from the last years experience. Too much rotation can hinder playing time. And if someone gets injured he is always there to fall on to. I don't mind him warming up the bench as long as they are winning.

6 in a row for Dallas. Now sitting at 6-4. Utah still going strong. 10-1 leading the west. being in the weaker division (North-West) will allow them to enjoy the being at the top a little more. Spurs are 9-2. Gasol's injury has put Memphis in the back seat. 2-8. Nuggets are having yet another dissapointing season. 4-4. Clips are leading and Lakers, warriors and Sacto are following them.

East is a laughing stock. Only two team have a winning record Cavs 7-3 and Orlando 7-4. I am waiting for orlando to bust out. So then there will be only one. Chicago will get on a roll when there road trip ends and home cookings smells the right recipe right now.

knicks suck as always but did anyone see Carmelo Anthony run like a little girl after throwing that sucker punch? I'm still laughing Jared jeffries would of seriously hurt melo. Nate Robinson held it down taking down a man thats 6'8 and then chasing melo when he running like a girl.

Melo got some new nick names now they are Jello and carmela and few others which i can't post.

What a turnaround a month and half makes. dallas started the season 0-4. Then the ran 25-3. Back on top Take that spurs, utah, lake show, phoenix. Whereas, the clips started 4-1 then went the otherway 10-16. Philly are more pathetic. They started 3-0 and then 6-22.

King James is on a mission. Must give props to the Magic leading the division still.

NBA's Problem:
A team from Atlantic Division will get in to the playoffs with a below .500 record. That is a disgrace. If one looks at Baseball, last season alone there were 6 teams with above .500 record who did not see the playoff. This is after playing a grueling 162 games. Chicago White Sox the then defending champs with a .556 record could not even get in to the playoffs. If one looks at NFL, he/she would see there were 8 teams with a .500 or better record didn't make the playoffs.

This season another problem may occur. Having a better record another team in the central or southeastern conference in the east may not get into the playoffs. Currently Miami is ahead of Toronto and New Jersey still they can't be in the playoffs.

The solution:
NBA need to lessen the # of playoff teams ASAP and change the playoff format. 6 best record teams from the regular season getting into the playoffs would solve the problem. In that case conference leaders may get bumped out but that is something we have to live with. Then the quality of the playoffs would be better. NBA players will have a larger off season. Team USA can be better served.

Amare is healthy, Nash, Marion and there fast pace game can anyone stop them?

Timmy, Ginobli, Parker screams, "Say what? Come again please!!"

Dirk, with a raised eyebrow, would say "you guys must go through us before you think of bigger and better things.

East
King James.

Red Hot Phoenix is keeping pace with the Mavs. Won 10 in a row. Amare is becoming the old Amare. Nash, Barbosa, Diaw, Marion is already an All-star lineup. Raja Bell, JJones, Kurt Thomas makes the eight men rotation the toughest team in NBA.

Out of 82 regular season games many team has already played 40 games. Close to half of the season has finished. Turned out to be East is a joke. The East leader Cleveland Cavaliars would have been a 7th seed if they were in the west. This number may go down even more, since Shaq will be making his return soon which will boost Miami and deflate the East leaders.

props to Dallas. 0-4 start since then 32-4. Phoenix and Dallas has put some distance between Spurs. Looks like it will be a two team race from here on out for the Western division homecourt.

This East isn't that bad .... but its like the NFL where the AFC 10X stronger than the NFC but it wouldn't be a shock if the Bears or the Saints won the SB. Just like it wouldn't surprise me if the Pistons Wizards, Cavs, Heat, Nets, hell even the Knicks coming out of the East and then beating the team that comes out of the West.

My Power Rankings

West
1. Dallas
2. Suns
3. Lakers
4. Rockets
5. Spurs

East
1.Wizards
2.Pistons
3.Nets (Looks like Divorce is doing wonders for J-Kidd)
4.Bulls

Indiana just threw season away with that Trade, Knicks and Miami are the Big Dark Horses because they have 2 Beasts for Centers. Isiah may be in idiot with the Checkbook in signing Free Agents but this guy is a genius when it comes to the Draft and Most Trades w/ the exception of Francis one. Maybe not this Year but Next Year Watch out for the Knicks.

Suns with a 15 game winning streak and counting has toppled Dallas from the top spot. Dallas has 35-9 whereas, Phoenix has 34-8.

All Star King James is injured and will not play. So carter will get in :) This is what you get when you help MJ. The reward comes in multiple years.

Advantage Earl Boykins. he don't have to go around the pick he can just slide under/between the 7 footer's legs. lol

The Allstar forward is at a loss on how to set a pick.

No doubt, Toronto is playing at a level that noone thought they could. As long as they continue to be above .500 they are safe. This coach needs to have an extention to his contract with a huge bonus.

No, I don't want a team in Las Vegas. For the sake of the players and the fans. Imagine kids of 20/21 year old getting a paid $5/6 mill a year. How much would end up in the casinos??

Miami is rising. bad news for the eastern teams.

The coach knows he can't change the lakers standing in the remaining 10/12 games. They are 6th and it is a lock. They are six game behind Houston and 2 games above denver. So Phil just let his star player get some stats to beaf up his average.

Well Kobe was held to 23 and the lakers lost. But the sad part is Denver lost too. Only two game back they (nuggest) could narrow the gap. A seventh seed will face Phoenix. a sixth seed will face Utah. Denver must try to over take Lakers in the remaining 11 games to avoid Phoenix in the first round.

Alright, the regular season is almost over. 15 teams are already in and 14 of them know their opponents. Only Dallas the top seed in West (in NBA) don't know their opponent cause the 8th seed has not been decided. Most probably it may be Chris Mullin's (One of the pure shooters NBA has ever seen) Golden State. Clippers are a game behind with two game to go. They (GS-Warriors) have the tie-breaker 3-2.

in the West both GS and Lakers can win their respective series with the 2 big guns.

After a week the playoff standing looks like:

Detroit 3 vs Orlando 0
Dallas 1 vs Golden State 1
Chicago 2 vs Washington 0
Cleveland 2 Miami 0
Toronto 1 New Jersey 1
San Antonio 1 Denver 1
Rockets 2 Utah 1
Phoenix 2 LA 1

Orlando's out, Washington and Miami are almost gone and now, the rest of the series could get really interesting go Golden State go! Lakers unlucky their down 2-1 instead of up 2-1

"Nellie smokes Cuban".
That was a bannar on the stands. wow!!

Unbelievable stuff. I thought Dallas would breeze past GS. I was so wrong. This still can be a seven game series. GS is leading the series 3-1.

Heat is out. Bulls were just too strong. So we will have a new champion this year.

Mighty Detroit has a tough task ahead.

He would win a ring one day. The hunger is there. The humility is there. I wish him all the best. Just needs a good back court help and they are all set.

Spurs had some heavy punches literally. Nash and suns are bleeding. Great 2nd round series two years in a row. The whole thing is wide open now with the ousting of Dallas.

Still feeling good for the Warriors. Thats what Dallas needed - a spanking slap on the face. Tryin' to be invincibles, eh ? Leave that to the Aussies :)

Tough heart-breaking loss for the Raptors in Game 6 at New Jersey. RJ made a heck of a play to steal the pass, or else Bosh gets that clean dunk to take Toronto to Game 7, and perhaps history by making a historic comeback. If the series went back to Toronto for a decisive game 7, you know who'd win infront of that boisterous home crows! Ahhhh!

somethings are not meant to be. Toronto in finals, khek!!

Suns just tied things up 2 a piece with Spurs. Utah-Jazz will be well rested for any of these two teams.

This is as open as it gets.

My man Bob took out Phoenix's 30 points 14 rebounds, lol. What a smart player, lol. If spurs wins the next one they should give Horry a bonus that no player this year got.

Derek little rock Fisher is the man. I'd see him this summer. Keep it up yo!! I call him "G" as a gangster.

If Chicago can get one game woohoo!! All they need is one game at a time. I thought the series was over. Closing out a team is the toughest. Michael did that time and again before going to the 7th game most of the time.

Close out games = MJ = Money, I hope the baby-bulls win and I hope the Suns can take out the spurs do not want to see a SA-DET final and it be an injustice if SA beats PHX cause of the supensions. If I'm PHX I'd go after TD they way Nash got fouled (BTW: He has to stop Acting).

Good strategy for phoenix. At home Barbosa would be a moster I know.

As for acting, it is part of the game now. Dennis "best actor" Rodman brought acting in NBA in to a new dimention (former spurs, lol that's where he started his acting career!).

AHA! The spurs took care of the suns in game 5. The bonus check on Horry should already get printed.

I blame Mike D'Antoni for the suns loss. Why hire players like J Rose? His experience and defense was perfect to give some rest to Marion and Nash. Fresh legs mean nothing? Trying to win a playoff game with only six players? This is not a six a side game. The opposition had 10 with seven having significant minutes. No wonder Spurs finished the lathergic suns in the 4th. Poor player rotation can only be blamed on the Headcoach.

Pesky nets are making it tough for Cavs.

I am hoping Ben Jordan (my bad, Ben Gordon) can push this to seven game series.

You have to play your best players in the playoffs, not your bench. Rose is not good enuff even for a Knick team. He's one of those practice dummies they use to defend the stars during the practices.

Man..Pheonix should've won. They were up 5 with about 3 minutes to go and Ginobli kept turning it over.... One more basket at that point would've made it a three position game...

This sucks!!! I hate the Spurs and Pistons!! They are both very dirty teams.

Evening-Night nothing went for you yesterday.

You must understand basketball is not like playing ludu. One needs the legs to finish off a game. Close it out. Crunch time is the real deal. That's when the superstars deliver. Time and again we saw Bird, Magic and Michael putting the final dagger in the last minute or two. That's their time. They take over the game then. It doesn't matter how one play the entire game. It matters how the team finishes it. Playing Nash, Bell and Marion over 45 minutes is murder. Everyone who follows the game knew Spurs would make a late surge. 5 minutes of Rose could have been the key to rest couple of minutes (actual game time) for Marion and Bell.

If playing best players is so critical then why even bother sub? Let them play full 48 minutes.

Well without Dallas and Phoenix the NBA playoffs just got from bad to worse. More and more it seems to be destined for a Spurs-Pistons finals.

Krelenko needs to step up and take more shots. 5 shots in an entire game wouldn't cut it. Lets hope King James will overcome the Pistons. However, I doubt that. Princes arms are too long. Spurs and Pistons in 6.

Well, the spurs finished off the Jazz in style. 4-1 even better than my prediction. now they will have some well deserved rest.

Whereas, King James is stepping up on the plate. the series is tied at 2. Very evenly contested matches. The Cavs have out scored the aging Pistons by 4.

"haddi-haddi lorai" going on.

yeah! kick your trump card (Shaq) out first (thinking you can do it by yourself) and then wanting out yourself cause you can't do it by yourself, lol.

At the very end the multi millioniar Kobe thought he wouldn't have a better contract elsewhere so retracted his comments of leaving LA.

I am now getting a little interested because of LJ. Just one game and it could be so much better.

King james did it. What a performance. scored Cav's final 25 points. won the 5th match in double overtime. Nothing but admiration for you. Missing MJ can be a little more soothing now.

Thank you Kobe, no matter how much you try to grab attention in the media with "trade me", "ignore my comments", "I have a change of heart"; it is playoffs time. Everyone is paying attention to the games where you don't belong. Kiss Shaq's rear 3 times for getting you those rings that you show off to your younger team mates like Kwame Brown.

And he delivered what the cleveland fans were waiting for. Many of them in the stands wiping their tears. Finally they are some sort of champion (eastern conference). (in past 59 years)

I liked the purest champion of all Bill Russel's comment while presenting the trophy.

"You are representing eastern conference. Now make me proud."

Rookie Gibson from Texas had 31 point monster game. That is his career high. His previous best was 21 in game 3 against the pistons. Surely this disspointed result would breakup Pistons. The coach may get fired too.

Cavs vs Spurs.

Can the King become a legend? Can the spurs stop him? Better question would be, can the cavs stop Duncan, Parker and Manu? Spurs in 6.

June 8, 2007, 08:18 AM
Boring Tim Dunkin donuts does his thing and the Spurs are one up. Dynasty to me. I am sure Labrone would comeback strong. Gibson the highest scorer for the Cavs, two games in a row. hmmm!! By the way, MJ's first finals game had 36 points beside his name against another MJ (Magic Johnson). Ah! worthy, ainge and them were playing that time.

Big three and "Big shot Bob" showed up early and took a commanding lead and hold on to dear life and won comfortably at the end. 103-92. Spurs up 2-0. Cavs did try to comeback in the second half but failed short. James 1st half foul trouble made the gap too much to over come. Good game!!

"Big Shot Bob"
Robert Horry showed his experience in the defensive end this time and a crucial three when his team needed one badly. He had 6 block shots and 9 rebounds. He is going for his seventh ring this year. Wow!! Even MJ and scottie can't say that. The kid from Alabama (college) I saw grew up in front of me in the 90's. At first he use to have these monster dunks. With Hakeem on his side he was as aggressive as in the defensive end as well as making the 3's.

Tigers_eye
June 14, 2007, 01:53 PM
Well now it is 3-0. A white wash looming. I hope for TV's sake Cav's win one at least.

Horry opened his mouth and who could argue with him? He said the current Spurs team could take on 80's Magic or 70's bird's team with ease. However he also said 2001 Lakers was the best team he played with. Compared with Locomotive with out a brake. Coming at you hard and no stopping it. Money broke that team apart (his view).
