The first ODI of West Indies Vs Australia will start today (06:30 GMT). It will be a day-night match. The DLF Cup is the largest Cricket Tournament in Malaysia ever.

Australia is certainly favorite. But who cares? Want some fighting spirit from West Indies…they have to prove a lot of things….among them: WI should remind us that once they were champions.

If WI's performance is below par in this series, it might help BD strategycally in Champions Trophy. :D

Ha ha...may be. In BD Vs Wi, I certainly want WI to go down (you know my nick name!). But in other cases, I couldn't think about it. I saw a lot of Defeats connected to WI (When I understood Cricket, WI already lost their winning track), but I never change my support. I am always with WI (after BD)...win or loss does not matter...the only matter is that they stand for Caribbean Cricket and they have still some natural instinct in Cricket.

Edwards to Jaques, out Bowled!! good length delivery, seamed in from just outside off, too quick for Jaques, swings his bat a fraction late and gets the off stump walking! P Jaques b F Edwards 3(12) 4s-0 6s-0

What sad ending. WI was poised to win this one. Lost last 8 wickets in 9.2 overs scoring only 25 runs. Lost last six wickets in 3.3 overs scoring 16. Last five wickets fell for 4 runs. What a collapse. West Indies all out 201 in 34.3 overs. 15 overs left and lost by 78. WI could have easily beaten Australia. Time for Lara to retire from ODI. Wait!! After a BD loss then he can retire.

What a great win by Aussies!! Great come back. Thats why you gotta love this team. Never-say-die spirit is what it takes to win matches.

WI should have won this one. I was watching the game and could not believe what was going on. Thought Australia got caught in the rustiness of cricket-less 5 months, but NO! the world champs has done it again.

this goes to show good the team is. absolutely no game since April 23 and come September 12, first game and they win it with a great come back.

Now C'mon WI. Beat the crap out of India. take your anger and kill 'em. Im with ya 1000% against India.

Ha ha ha! WI is pretty lucky actually. I am sure, WI was not gonna make it. One wicket and they were going to show their craps! If the D/L would have played in the match against AUS, WI would have won by miles ;)

India played 8 overs today, looking at the list of lowest team totals in ODI, India would have scored more then the 35 set by Zimbabwe but may have struggled to last the 14 overs that Namibia survived against the Aussies in 2002.

India's previous lowest was 54 and they seemed to be on their way to beating it.

This match is very crucial for WI, if they win they will go 1 step ahead of India to reach in the final. But the match is totally depending on Rain. Here is the weather forecast for today’s match:

Today: Scattered thunderstorms. High near 90F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60%.

Tonight: Variably cloudy with scattered thunderstorms. Low 74F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 60%.

no they didnt...they got 2 points they shouldn't have, but humiliation they could not avoid.

think about it this way. if we were 35-5 chasing 240+ against ZIM and rain caused the match to end in a tie (the points were split so it was a tie for all theoretical and pracital purposes), would you be giddy with joy or pissed beyond recognition? my guess would be latter. i know i would be.

Hussey is man of the match but the real "winner" is... Stuart Clark! He conceded 87 runs in 7 overs at 12,42 economy rate. I think it's the worst ever in a odi... he made even worse than Mick Lewis against South Africa!
Great innings by Gayle and Lara, but West Indies went close to another tragic collapse! What an unpredictable team they are... they could win world cup or also go out in the first stage!

I thought the Aussies made it very clear even before the start of the Tournament that they wanted to try out all possible options to give them a better preparation for the Champions Trophy and the World Cup. Players like Johnson, Jacques were even told that they would have to go home after playing only 2 matches, and hence Hayden didnt play those games. Gilly wanted to stay at home to prepare himself and didnt even come with the team.

I think its a good idea. Australia is slowly heading towards the rebuilding phase in their game. Most of their big names are nearing retirement in couple of years and its a good idea to start giving the new boys a chance or two in every occasion they get.

i am a hardcore fan of windies. started watching cricket from 96 world cup and had to choose one team. had two teams to choose from. ambrose, walsh and bishop blew my mind and south africa was awsome. but lara knocked them out from QF. since then i became fan of windies and brian lara

I will be very happy if they continue their experiment in the match against india ;)
Looking forward for a India-WI final :p

As much as it has been a combination of some bad luck and some disappointing performances, the eagerness and anxiety of some members on this board to see India's downfall and humiliation is amazing.

And equally disappointing.
When some of us laugh at India's fall, the main reason being BCCI. Not the Indian fans, friends or relatives we have. The pain is still there and will continue to be there because BCCI potrays that the are supporting our BD team to develop yet only turn their back just for monitary gains. Unless and untill they change there attitude you will see more of the same here. Tendu-Dravid are some of our favorite players yet we can't support them. On the same time, just look at South Africa. They created a series with Zim, out of the FTP just to show support. Including you we all know they could have prepared better just by playing the local champion side a 5 match series.

>>They have billions of supporters anyways.

Yes ,that is true ..but what is disconcerting to me and probably to my other Indian friends in this forum is "why would the BD's fans think otherwise?" .For my friends (not from this forum ) and me BD comes as a natural choice after India .I still rememeber the '03 (to an extent '99) when we would only watch Indian ,Pak(for different reasons ofcourse) and BD matches .

BCCI has been vilified a lot in this forums and for good reasons. It is a mistake I agree. But I would urge the BD people not to forget that it was the the BCCI (others came later on ..Pak and SL included) that initiated and followed up (with vigour)with the case of BD being included in the Test arena .As a matter of fact it used the same force and weight ( which is vilified in here ) to get the job done .Ofcourse you could argue that BCCI/India did it for its own reasons ..but that is (probably) not the moot point in here .

Yes SA fullfilled there FTP with Zim as a any regular memeber would ,but did SA stand up for Kenya when there was a discussion about it being included as a Test Nation ?.You can see the state of Kenyan cricket right now due to that .BD on the other hand has grown leaps and bounds after that.

Just my thoughts ...

Bharat bhai,
That BCCI and this BCCI is two different organization with two different mission. Like it or not, with the new found power (fan base, viewers, tele rights) this BCCI is all about profit and loss (Short-term, getting americanized). Whereas, then BCCI mission was long term (Japanese style).

After few years (in the long run) Japanese style of business always wins over the americanized way. Thus Toyota and Honda are openning plants and Ford, GM are closing plants in the same continent.

The way BCCI is acting will hurt them eventually. Then the wound would be too deep to patch up.

Alright, lets try to bring in some serenity here.
To begin with, I am a great fan of tendulkar and I can tell you, along with Lara and Bradman, he is one of the all-time greats. I want him to score a century in every match, trust me! But the thing thats the most discernible is the fact that the way the indian media (forget about BCCI), potrays us. I've seen many indian cricket programs, and the way they neglected Bangladesh had forced me to never support India again, even if they're playing against Australia. So there goes my laconic explanation, its not the Indians we're angry with, its their cricketing community we're angry with.
For tomorrow's game, I hope Tendulkar remains in that classy touch with his bat, but let the so-called 'team india' be vanquished.

If I have to choose between WI, Ind, Aus, I'll choose WI without a second thought. I'll support any team against Ind and Aus, and between Ind and Aus I'll be neutral. I think it's the arrogance of these teams that I hate most, and India's cricket board worst of all. They may have supported us to gain test status back then but for their own advantage to increase Asia's dominance in ICC. India is the only test nation we haven't toured since we gained test status, if not for the interest of developing the game, at least for being neighbours we can expect more.

WI needs to worry about their Middle Order collapse definitely. I hope still some cricket is left in Samuels and Hinds and they need to show their backbones.

WI did its part to get that extra 1m. It's very weird to have a clause like this... definitely encourages match fixing. I don't think WI lost the match intentionally... they lost it because their batting was below par.

It doesn't matter whether WI intended to lose this match, or lost due to "experimental" / "below par" performance.

Consider this:

1. WI were guaranteed to be in the final
2. $1m prize if they play IND in final
3. WI would rather play Ind anyway

= it's a win/win situation and an opportunity well taken.

First of all, winning against WI doesn't really matter for India. They have to win against Australia to go to the final anyways. Very pathetic and horrible performance from WI…unbelievable and irrational…I am very upset and frustrated to see the experimental things in this match.

If WI needs 1M dollar for taking India in the final, then why they bowled out India by 162 runs? They can make some loose bowling and pass 250 easily.

And if it is WI’s attitude then WI will not win in the final for sure.

Samuels and Hinds proved that they have nothing to give in cricket. They should be kicked out from the team immediately. They are 500% bullshit.

This again proves, In day-night games batting first gives an advantage. Batting under the lights are not comfortable.

Oh damn, I was kinda hoping India would win (surprise!) so that WI could beat 'em in the final to take that million $... no matter, hopefully WI will beat Aus again.. :)

Australia 46/2 (16.0 ov)

Katich 9 not out from 44. Bloody disgraceful.

I am surprised that Hogg is not playing for AUS. Excellent start by WI. Katich is playing like Golla today... the only difference is that he might be able to accelerate the runrate without losing his wicket.

It's sad WI lost, again I'm assuming that lack of discipline and team effort led to their disaster.

Haha, except Zimbabwe... it's in our best interest that they pack home early without causing an upset :)

The invincibles, the best!!

Couldnt be more happier to see india being kicked out of the tournament.

Keep up the good work Aussies and get that "one" cup you boys r yet to put your hand on, the Champions Trophy.

west indies didn't win any of the tosses. and batting under light was difficult. but the better team won

But that should not be the cause for allout by less than 50% run margin.

Before final I never think that BD can beat WI. But now I think BD can make it. IF lara, Gayle, Sarwan and Chander paul....if three of them don't get runs and BD make 220 first...then WI will be bowled out by 180 runs.

I have one simple question to all of you:

Do Hinds and Samuels have any quality to enter in the first 11 BD Team?
