Fastidious performance by WI after day 1.

With Umar Gul taking 5 wickets and Shahid Nazir taking 3 Pakistan really didn't suffer for the absence of Akhtar and Asif!

Somehow they seem to be coping up without Asif. Akhter was a good for nothing...no good line and length.

Yeah, may be...only One person can save this match...Lara...see what happens.

windies has a lot to do. lara alone will not able to save the match. chanderpaul, bravo and ramdin will have to perform

innings defeat against a side who don't have their top attack. We can take on both of them. Matter of time till we become #6. When does Lara, Inzi and Yousuf retire??

Lara is putting up a fight. This Lara-Chanderpaul partnership is very crucial for Windies to draw the game. The longer they hold on, the better chance they got.

I doubt others can hold out there much longer. Definitely not one whole day.
Winning is out of question.

Yes true. Asif was just another beginner, Pakistan has tonnes of players like him. There is nothing awesome about Asif.

As for Shoaib Akhtar he was a goner ages ago.

Lara gone on 122 Pakistan all but have the match won. Chanderpaul is suffering from dehydration so i think WI should just try to bat another 20 ovs get and try not to lose a wicket and then go out an blitz to set pak a target

Sovik

another century in vain.

Sovik

from cricinfo

"A disgruntled few will also say, with some justification, one umpire deserved the award. Asoka de Silva's comeback wasn't memorable, almost all his poor decisions went against West Indies and mostly at crucial junctures. And that kind of support, when you're Brian Lara, you can do without."

Tigers_eye
November 14, 2006, 02:51 PM
Didn't I read some where in this forum something on this line that alone in this test Lara got two lives because of Ashoka? One decision favoring the best player should be counted as two for that team. That puts 4 decisions in favor of WI. :)

Titles of thread are strictly maintained. One can change the Title heading within the certain time of opening his thread. Then only the Mods can do that.

WI can collapse faster than a tasher ghor. I am not taking anything for granted untill they cross Pakistan's total. Good to see Gayle playing conservatively and maintaining a strick rate of 60+. Speaking of strick rate did anyone notice Abdur Razzaq's batting? Is it hard for any batsman to bat ODIs at a 100+ rate and play test at a 15+ rate?

WI in full control in this match. One more session of batting practice then Pakistan will have 5 sessions of survival. With Taylor and Gayle well rested they should be able to capitalize a tired Paki team.

dave is gone too. windies are 30-40 runs short of the target the need atleast a lead of 250 to put pressure on pakistan. al though pakistan is under pressure but they have good batting line up and capable of playing 5 sessions

DO YOU think there will be a result in this game with Younis Khan, Yusuf and Inzy still to bat considering that its the forth day;) i doubt it unless if there is another Taylor hatrick!

2nd Test ends in a high scoring draw. Two reasons to follow last Test: Yousuf could beat Viv Richards record of runs scored in a year (needs 148 runs), Lara could reach (or beat?) Tendulkar record of 35 centuries in Test cricket!

Actually, the last time West Indies won a Test abroad against a team other than Zim and Bangladesh was in 2000. The one before that was in 1996-97.

Yeah that is very pathetic for a WI's fan. I hope this time they will win one.

Why Lara is not the Man of the Match??:hairpull:

Another century for Yousuf, he scored 102 in the first innings! Now only needs 46 runs in the second innings to beat Richards record... will WI bowlers dismiss him before he can do it?

Sovik

At stumps day4 West Indies are on 39/2 (9.2 overs), target is 444 runs (from 111 overs, RRR=4).
Lara 18* ad Sarwan 15* are at the crease, WI need a couple of long-lasting partnerships to save the Test! And let's see if Lara can score his 35th century.

I saw yesterday's match...very disappointing performances from WI's bowlers and fielders. The present WI's team is very weak....three key players are not in the team: Chanderpaul, Sarwan and Bravo. If Wi get one win from this team against Pakistan..that will be considered as a great performance.

West Indies has Come Back on The 4th ODI. I Surprised by Their Test Performance. May be They Lost but They Performed Well. But I thought They Win the ODI Series.

Their ODI Squad is Better Than Their Test Squad. Don't Know Why Couldn't They Perform in The First Two ODI. Hope They will Win The 5th One Also.

Me too. In 1st ODI, they are pretty close...lost by 2 wickets. But they played simply rubbish in the 2nd ODI. It is good that Samuel now got the lost form. When Sarwan and Bravo will join the squad...they should be in the list of WC winners 2007 among other teams. Am I right??:)
