Scotland suffered an inauspicious start to their tour of Bangladesh, going down by 33 runs to a Bangladesh Cricket Board Academy in a warm-up match at Chittagong. Scotland's lack of firepower with the ball cost them dear, with young opener Tamim Iqbal striking a century in the host's formidable total of 252 for 6.
Navdeep Poonia of Warwickshire scored 63 in Scotland's reply, with Dougie Brown and Neil McCullum also contributing, but it was not enough and they fell well short of their target. Mosharraf Hossain took 4 for 32, and although McCullum's late hitting had given Scotland hope, with his dismissal went their chances of victory.
Iqbal had earlier reached his century off 133 balls before being dismissed for 105. He received valuable support from the captain Nadhif Chowdhury, who scored a rapid 76-ball 68 to help rebuild the innings after Scotland captain Craig Wright had struck twice in quick succession early on. Scotland used eight bowlers in a match where they used 13 players and the hosts 12, and while things did not go to plan they will see it as valuable acclimatisation to the conditions ahead of the first one-day international against Bangladesh tomorrow. However, the comments made by Chowdhury after the game are bound to be of some concern: "They (Scotland) lacked real strike bowlers and as a result failed to pose any threat for us".

Well i guess if Scotland can come to our yard and talk we should be able to talk too.

No problem at all. He backed the talk up with his blade..

He told the truth. No individual Scot posed any threat to BD batsmen, whereas young, inexperienced BD bowlers bowled the Scots apart.

Isnt Tamim Iqbal a very attacking batsman? Its surprising he doesnt have a strike rate of around 100. Thats how he used to play for the Under 19 teams. But anyway you gotta give him credit for a fine innings

He wants to be in the national team and his best way in is to prove himself in this matches. Probably played it safe. Whatever happened to his brother (Nafiq Iqbal)? He is nowhere in the national scene.

Yeah its dissapointing because Nafis Iqbal, Ashraful and Aftab Ahmed were at one point considered the three upcoming batsmen.

i'd always pictured iqbal to be the long-term opening partner of nafees. it's such an irony that while one captained mcinnes' u-19 squad at one point and the other didn't make it to the team, the latter is now the best batsman in the country whereas the former is probably on the brink of losing it altogether.

Nafis has terrible technique against pace bowling, and was a very shaky opener, if he wants to make it back to the team he will have to work very very hard indeed.

Good to see Nadif is keeping his name of hitting 6s not only with bats but also with talks.Would love to see him becoming a permanent member of the team evantually.

I like big mouths if someone can back it up with action. Well done Nadif. ;)

Exactly! The key point is, "if someone can back it up with action".

tired of proving that BD is better than Zim & Scot. this shud end. Nadif did the right thing and probably shud hav addressed this to the ICC just to let them know we need sth better than Zim/Scot.

Nafis should always have been eased in as a middle order batsman.
