so whos in the team?

The BCS selection panel have opted for experience for their first World Cup campaign beginning on January 15. The biggest surprise of the announcement was the inclusion of Bourny3, who will return after a one-year absence from international cricket.

The left-hander of South Australian origin was dropped from the recent test and ODI series against Saintsational and Webhostingtalk after a largely unsuccessful domestic season. Bourny has yielded 3 wickets at more than forty representing Team Rasel, however his three seasons of domestic cricket was deemed valuable enough to warrant a place in the cup.

Other veterans who have featured in the BCS system since its beginning are Asif Rahman, Rubu, Tehsin, Hasib, James90 and Ehsan who returns after an eye operation. The squad appears well balanced with an abundance of youth who just recently experienced their first domestic season.

Sunniath and MasterBlaster can also consider themselves fortunate to be part of the squad, after both featured minimally in the recently concluded ODI series. Making way in the side are Omio and Bancan who will now have to work hard to earn a contract before the next challenge.

Asif Rahman is likely to be announced as captain in the following days.

Squad (15): Adel_chain_gang, AsifTheManRahman, Bourny3, Ehsan, Hasib, Hatebreed, Imran78, James90, Lidcombe, MasterBlaster, Miraz, Rubu, Shahriyar, Sunniath, Tehsin

James, MasterBlaster has calmed down after joining the cabinet (Banglacricket staff :) ) and now is known as Mahir :)

For the sake of keeping the stats accurate, it is best if his name is played under MasterBlaster, or else he would end up having stats under both MasterBlaster and Mahir :)

Please keep it as MasterBlaster, which is what I'd like to use for simulation and fantasy cricket here at BC! So much for changing the username... >:)

A middle-order collapse did us in, which is quite uncharacteristic of BanglaCricket XI. All blame should be bestowed upon His Highness, the Right Honorable Captain AsifTheManRahman for not scoring a century to win the match. :(

hmm...we did bundle them out cheaply, but looks like after that 56-run opening stand, our batters simply couldn't stand the fire supplementing the CMX bowing. i myself got out early as well, and in a pretty ugly way too - playing across the line. i really shouldn't have mehrab hossain opi as my idol anymore.

anyways, hope we can win the next match, and the next, and the next, until we win the world cup. i guess we have one more game for us to get our acts together, and this game just shows that we have a lot of work to do as a team ahead of the actual world cup games.

James90
January 13, 2007, 08:50 AM
More worries. We just need both disciplines to fire in the same game.

It was good decision I thought that the openers have been kept intact despite their first match debacle. If a combination has to be tried out for better effectiveness, then it should be given enough chances to prove it in the middle. I will personally take that positively, and work that much harder in the nets and other practice opportunities to regain my place in the playing XI.

Mathematically we're still a chance but I'm astounded at how we keep finding new ways to lose matches.

Their last pair put on 86* to deny us by one wicket.

Good century by ATMR the captain. :)

hmm..well stats can be deceiving, as they have been once again. although we amassed 260, we could've done a LOT better - the batting simply didn't click (once again).

and it's also very frustrating the way the last pair put on 86 to take it away from us. let's get our acts together for the next few games, guys.

Banglacricket finally won by a massive margin of 208 runs. A team effort resulted in 9/307 in 50 overs and good bowling restrcited Fishlipps.no-ip.org for paltry 99. :)

First win in world cup. :)

99/10 off 13.3? man they're worse than our (Bangladesh's, not BC's) top-order sloggers! :)

James90
January 27, 2007, 08:06 PM
We just missed out on the second round.

Mensa 5pts (2 wins, 1 loss)
Sitepoint 5pts (2 wins, 1 loss)
----------------
BanglaCricket 5pts (1 win, 2 losses)
Fishlipps 3pts (1 win, 2 losses)

Amazing that we could win by so much yet choke in all the other games. We are probably the best team of the group but have been eliminated.
