Australian board has released their next coach's name after the World Cup 2007 today.

Is there any news of Bangladesh? Will Dav continue to be the coach or will someone else take over?

If there'll be someone else, who could be the possible candidates? Definitely not an Asian (again!).

Another Aussie - like Tom Moody, or Bob Woolmer - if either of their current contracts with the respective boards discontinues that is.

Or will it be someone unfamiliar with the job of coaching - like Gordon Greenidge earlier?

It should be Dav for another term. Some job is not yet finished.

If he disagrees, another professional coach, its better if he is from Australia.

It shouldn't be any Indian definitely. We had enough from Mohinder Amarnath. I don't like Australians too as they are racist and always have a bossing mentality. A british can be good. Bob wolmer won't be bad though if he finishes his contract with Pak. We can take John Wright, the former Indian coach who had good relation with our Bangali dada.

Australian Coach had long ago decided that he would not continue after the WC and justly so the Aussie board were looking for a replacement.

For Dav he hasn't said anything of leaving us as of yet. So why worry?? We will deal with it when the time comes. The only way Dav leaves us is we beat India and knock them off the WC, Chapple is fired, Dav jumps ship.

As for Tom Moody he will not leave SL or unless they win the WC.

I dont think it that way. If we beat India, then most probably, BCB will try to extend the contract with Whatmore.

Fazal mamu: you're right. It should be a Nepali coach. Here're two of my best suggestions.

1. Someone who is innovative, and wants to invent a round bat, and will be willing to do his meditation with the bat for greater success of the team.

2. Someone who is very detailed, not only about the pitch, but also about the rasta ghaat around the stadium.

Kintu Baigna Kabir, there are some question marks in your suggestion:

the first one:
I suspect the first coach will promote more 'gullu' and 'Mehrab Jr.' type players in the ODI team and we will end up scoring 100 runs for 2 wickets in 50 overs.

the 2nd obe:
I have a feeling the 2nd coach will end up competing for the pitch curator job with Rafiq,

best thread ever. really funny, ha ha ha,laughed a lot.need this kind of intellectual joke more often. guys did u think about opening partnership with golla and mehrab junior ( two slowest batsmen in BD), one down Faruq (the selector and another turtle batsman), make a list for other batsmen.

Dav Whatmore Can Continue. But If He Leave the Job than It's Better to Try an Australian or English Coach. I Think Former Indian Coach John Wright Can be a Good Option. Bob Woolmer Can be Appointed, If He Leave and Agreed for Bangladesh.

But NO SUB-CONTINENT.

On the contrary...........the coach we have now (although he's from a sri lankan background) is Dav Whatmore, who is australian and played for australia. Saying that australians are racists and are bossy are totally biased opinions. Plus they are usually the best coaches, just like greg chappel. Without him, India would be finished right now. They're just too stupid to understand that. I'm not a big fan of the australian team either but i suggest you think before you speak.

I sure want to see a new coach after the world cup. To me, DW totally failed to import any professionalism among our players. Sure, our team has progressed during his time with us, but that has to do more with players coming from U/19 level than DW's presence in the country. My observation is that the maturation process of the players pretty much stops (except for Razzak) once they join the national team. Even worse, some players even regressed under DW (Hannan, Rajin, Nafees Iqbal, Tapash...).

Many people attribute Lanka's success in WC'96 to DW, to me that happened because of the Ranatunga-Mendis-Whatmore combination, not because of one single person . It was Ranatunga who kept his players straight; by Whatmore's own admission, it was Duleep Mendis' idea to send Jaya and Kallu to open. So, what was DW's contribution ? Well, he made the training sessions more organized and rigorous (besides filling up the players with motivational talks), something that was not common in subcontinental teams back in the time. Nowadays any modern coach should be able to do that job.

We need someone who will push our players to an extra mile, and I am more than convinced (especially after today's 153 all out against Zimbabwe) DW is not that person.

In that case, we'll also need a new captain after the World Cup i.e, if we don't go for the option of chosing two different captains for ODIs and Tests.

I vote for Richard Mckinness ( obviously I spelled it wrong). If he is given the top job he might consider leaving his current position in Australia. He has done phenomenally well working with the U-19 team, and has good rapport with almost all the current team players.

McInnes was back in BC yesterday.

We might talk with him regarding his vision about our boys.

Mates is it confirmed that Bangladesh will host India for both ODI and Test series after the world cup? to me that could be even more exciting than the cup itself!

Yap, it is confirmed.

Completely forgot about that. Any details available yet? Or we have to wait until the WC for all that?

Xavier

OK... that's good, as India will go under some changes after the WC maybe Bangladesh could have the chance to finally get that "big win".

How about trying to win a few test matches?

I think its already too many ODIs for us till the World Cup - with no longer version game for us for over a year. I'm eager to see a Bangladesh test match game. Although I'm pretty certain that we're gonna face some terrible times in test cricket, considering the fact that a few of our players might retire after the World Cup - Rafique is almost sure to be one of them.
