This is now becoming a not-very-rare scene for BD... that our so called star batsmen fail and bring doom to the team creating situations where avoiding humiliation seems to be impossible and then the bowlers take charge in both batting and bowling and save the side. Here are very recent 3 matches against sides like ZIM & Kenya where matches became too close for comfort and Mashrafee and Rafiq did the job they were not supposed to do to save the matches:
Bangladesh v Kenya, 23 March 2006, Fatullah
BD-231 Kenya-211
JO-1, Ash-3, Bashar-0
Rafiq scored 33 and took 5 wickets for 47 runs and saved the match!

Kenya v Bangladesh, Nairobi, on 13 August 2006
Kenya-184, BD-185/8
Rajin-3, SN-18, Ash-6, Pilot-13...
Mashrafee took 3 wickets and Scored highest 43 not out and saved BD this time. Who can forget this match?!

Zimbabwe v Bangladesh, Harare, 9 February 2007
BD-228, Zim-214
Tamim-5, Aftab-1, Sakib-11, Ash-3
Mashrafee again scored valuable 29 of 24 balls and Mash’s 10 overs with economy of 3.2 played big part in the close-escape. Even Tapash made a valuable 18 of 18 balls!

The most annoying thing is that in all these three matches, one batsman who failed consistently is our beloved Ashraful. How many more times do we have to see this sort of nerve-breaking thrillers which are essentially innovated by our superstar batsmen!:hairpull:
