Ganguly likely to miss warm-up tie against WI

NEW DELHI, March 9: Team India's promising opener Sourav Ganguly has hurt his ankle and is likely to miss the warm-up match against the West Indies in Jamaica on Friday.

The former skipper injured his ankle during net practice ahead of the warm-up game on Friday.

With just two days to go for the World Cup, the news has come as a big blow for the Men in Blue. Although the final decision will be taken by the team management later in the day, there is a big possibility that Ganguly will sit out since the selectors might not want to risk him further before the World Cup kicks off.

India’s first match against Bangladesh is on March 17 at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad.

"India's promising opener Sourav Ganguly...."

Promising Opener? Ususally the word 'promising' is used on young players.
Is this our Buro Dada or Dadar Pola they are talking about?

What was his contribution against NZ? This is a team game. If we can beat the NZ without SN and Rafiq, we can against anyone on our day (even without aftab)!! I hope recovers, if not, we will go without him and beat the crap out of India. We will replace Aftab with Shahadat, make sure Tamim don't get out in first 25 overs; it is that simple.

We needed our man Aftab. Just 40 ball 40 run from him could make the difference. We need him, we want him and lets pray/doa/prarthana for him.

DIsh TV is showing the warm-up matches for free. One commentator was referring to 40 yr old Bermuda spinner as young spinner. :-D

well, as for Aftab, it is alarming - for the fact that how can a player get serious muscle pain while running? Its alarming in the sense that our players might not get proper streching in the workout program.

Today I found in the daily start that they still didnt get examination result for aftab. But aparently he is recovering. They are hopeful that he will be ok before the real show starts for bangladesh.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Sunday confirmed that national cricketer Aftab Ahmed's injury, which he suffered during the last official warm-up match against Scotland in Barbados, was not serious.

"What we knew that there is nothing wrong in his MRI report, which was done on Friday. The team management also informed the board that they are hopeful that the middle-order batsman would be able to play the first game against India," said Mahmudur Rahman, chief executive officer of BCB, yesterday.

The Chittagong cricketer sustained a muscle injury in his waist during the match, which forced him to leave the field on a stretcher.

I am sensing something fishy here. Its not even a week he left the field in a straycher and now he is up and running like nothing has happened!!!!

Either:-
1) He didn't want to waste his time against scotland or
2) He still has a injury which he is hiding becasue of not to be selected for match against India...
